A valid reason has been explained for not using the highest amperage and then down to the lowest is because the highest amperage produces the most heat when the most current is used - so all of the heat production is in the one area.

I always wonder why? Why we as electricians act like my way is better than yours?,do it this way, your labels suck and why did you route your wire that way or this other way? And act like loosing your cool for something that is not to your likeness, if a panel looks relatively clean and is free or shorts, ground faults, ungrounded wires are terminated up to code and the grounding wires are also terminated properly, i will not care about anything else, looks good and it works as intended its all it matters to me. You strive to make some Picasso art work, good for you and if that makes you happy more power to you. When i started, i was thought to leave extra wire in the panel they call that "service loop" and if i didn't do it a boatload of shit was raining over me, then i started using a Bradley label maker to make my labesl look good and only God saved me that time!! My supervisor was so pissed off that threaten me with getting fired for " not being consistent with the other panels and i have to ripped my labels off and put strip number labels from the wire books, never did wire sleeves but definitely i can tell look amazing. If a panel looks like crap, yes by all means destroy the imbecile that made that, specially if he is an electrician but if it is just that you dont like it ; come on man, if it works and is safe, cut it some slack

It does not affect the transfer of power on a buss where you place your higher amp draw breakers..mostly residential application mind you…..typically each circuit is not in use 100 percent of the time…and not at its full rating…so a twenty amp single pole and a twenty amp two pole might only max out at 12 amps anyway…a balance of loads is usually more important..and leaving enough wire on all leads to rearrange the panel if required is for me the most important feature…and labeling correctly! And not many technicians know or will flip the buss or the whole panel for bottom feed services..

If you can invest in a brady label maker. Saves time and looks nicer then hand printing the tags. Can make nice neat shrink tube labels for the conductors and adhesive strips for the panel front. If building lots of these units you can have them all printed and ready to go. Finding nice clean panels is always a very welcome rare sight for me! Good work

I looked him in the eye and said really hmmm ab,ab,ab,ab all wa down with no heavy liads right across from each other you cant do any better than that. Because i cant stand to see a 2pole 60/2 across from a 2pole 60/2 or 50/2. Ibe replaced alot of panels where buss burned up because of crap like that And as far as tagging the romex with a sleeve with circuit identity on it yes ive been doing that since 1987 I also cant stand and will not use the home-line panel with the plastic top and bottom that has notches for romex.
