God this was the game that made me excited for summer break, this was the game that every time I logged off I wanted to wake up, and explore some more. Looking back... life feels kinda empty without this version of ms

Yeah, man. Early June 2005, windows open in my room, the sound and smell of the early summer rain while training in the mushroom tree. Greatest memories of any game ever.

I earned my first Zakum helmet as White Knight! It was amazing! Had a friend in Zakum parties and he was able to get me there too when they were running low on people. We did that every saturday for like a month until I was 2nd on the list to get a helmet. The person who was supposed to get helmet on that run died just before Zakum died so I got to pick it up. I remember those 29 people cheering when I put it on. Maplestory was once in a life experience which won't come back but I'm more than happy that I lived it.

Walking to where you have to be gave the world a sense of actual space and vastness. I remember timing my jumps in Ant Tunnel in such a way where I'd get a small speed boost from the bumps, as well as jumping down slopes to gain speed. Having to walk instead of getting to fly through maps using several mid-air jumps made training a challenge and made monsters tough to avoid which was a challenge I truly enjoyed. I did like the middle ground though, where there were certain classes such as Mercedes with a properly versatile mobility set, and Aran who had a Combat Step that could be combo'd with a jump to go extra far.

Remember the old dungeon? It was a big adventure for me to travel through the ant tunnel. When i was young, i was scared that i never could get back to the city when i traveld to kargos.

Pre big bang maplestory when life sure as hell wasent easier but way more fun and the community of the game was amazing. miss it alot ps. Nice video man keep the maple content going!

Ahh much simpler and relaxing times

It hurts to watch this... my whole childhood, and look what it became right now. Bleh I tried playing MapleStory every year again for the past 5 years, but keep quitting after a week cuz it's just too boring. Leveling ain't a challenge anymore until you reach 180+, all you do is farm mesos all day to upgrade your gear, and there is literally no community anymore. I miss hanging around in Henesys FM and HHG or stalking 'famous' players deep into Ludibrium...

Rick 'RlCK' leveling is still a challenge, 275 has some insane exp values. There’s still a community, people hene hoe in henesys all the time. And you don’t have to farm mesos all the time, people don’t understand that there are other ways of getting mesos. And even then that’s only tied to reboot. If you don’t want to grind just play in bera.

Rick 'RlCK' i love both equally! I miss the old maplestory because it was fun and had a community but I love the new one too because it is rewarding getting to get to level 200 and get your 5thjob

Man! You remind me of my childhood and all crazy things I did in the game. There was so much fun. Some days I logged in to the game just to meet friends

I remember training in the slime tree, there was a safe-spot where you could use your green chair to recover HP&MP, because who had money for potions lmao. *sigh*

I love watching all of these nostalgia videos you've put together, but I feel like we'll all out of the material that existed pre big bang... Perhaps you should do "update-nostalgia" covering the events immediately post big bang, like the absolute potion/equipment dropping madness from monsters. You could cover the highlights from each season/update as time went by and I'd love to hear about your first experiences encountering all the new content and events. Keep up the good work!

@@tranquility2745 keep the current servers for ppl who made there progress there and prefer the newer style (like rs3) and make a classic server, pre big bang or maybe with pirates, before all the potential, the removal of classic maps and the obsolescence of pqing.

I am actually crying when seeing the old MapleStory, MapleStory caused me so much fun times with my brother, and he is now in the army and he doesn't have time for me, thank you .MapleStory for everything. But sadly it's time we part ways and continue life as I should

I remember having ks wars at coolie zombies and getting my first zakum helm. I felt like such a badass back then. It was so much more fun in those days

I remember logging onto my lvl 101 DK after quitting for a long time (DK was made and leveled pre-BB). It was some time after Big Bang... maybe a year. I noticed a lot of people around my level doing so much more damage than me; despite me being higher level than them. I looked at my equips and I noticed that they didn't require DEX anymore. I freaked out and asked people what happened and they asked why would I even put points into DEX. I said that we had to for equips and they claimed we never had to. These people didn't even know about secondary stats. I kind of thought I was going crazy for a bit because of how convinced they were on secondary stats not being a thing. I later found out that apparently, Nexon gave AP resets when they changed this, but since I logged in so much later after that change, I didn't get any :(

Good ol' times of 5 classes to chose from. Might revisit the game to check it out (and remember where i left off)

Now, I dont care whether I can relive my childhood or whether my childhood friends miss this game as much as I do, I just hope maplestory can bring back an exact same old school maplestory as before and the community to be as crowded and lively as it used to be.... A cute old school game with a community of nostalgic adults, sure a whole new experience!

lv 113 I/l in old maple, I remember leaching a bunch of low lv guildies in squids, I just froze them, they hit once (with use of acc pot) and it was super fast leveling for them. And monster carnival was released a lot latter than zakum.

Ah the good old days, when I had no idea how I got trapped in El Nath as a level 10 beginner..

Man it used to take me so long to get 4 4 in two stats making a character that my client always logged me off

Gosh I really miss this stuff. I really wish potentials never came to maple or at least didn't make it 99% of the gearing process. Once I killed lucid I felt like there was nothing left for me in modern maple. When 3rd job was max the game really felt balanced, some did more damage but each class had something that made it worth playing. I played a WK and had so many advantages by utilizing different elements to train. I would still feel jealous of the archers raining arrows down or the fp mages training on high level mobs with % dmg, and I envied those other warriors with the DK triple strike doing a lot of damage and the glorious blue circles going around the sader. With OSRS, classic WoW, a lot of the korean community still loves Lineage I, maybe one day maple will get a nice old style server (preferably before 4th job mage map wide genesis spam).

I used to like how easy it was to get lost in Sleepywood, cuz of how right massive it was. And all that hoopla about Omega sector and really having no way to get out of there. I did hate how long it took to get to 3rd job though. Took me like half a year back then. And I never reached 4th job before BB

I remeber being level 15 theif and my cousin told me that I couldn't get past level 15 because it was so kind of free version of maplestory lol I adventually got to level 57 and got hacked and wasn't able to get it back intill they introduced the pic system lol I got to be a shadower eventually though

I remember I rolled the dice for longer minutes to get the stats I wanted and when I got them I accidentally rolled the dice again... good old times

Runescape has had an oldschool server for a very long time now, and it's still popular today, and Blizzard is already planning on one for WoW. Idk why Nexon still refuses to make one for their game. If they do make one, for the love of god, they need to make the quest rewards allot better.

My first class ever made was a cleric haha. I put my skill points on health and strength hahah. Good times.

I would play an old school server, for sure.

I had a level 87 Hermit back before bigbang and remember just getting to level 50 was sadisfying enough and being level 70 back when 3rd job first came out you were considered pro... now the game feels dead i want to play again but it just doesn't feel right or the same. These players now don't understand the grind that was required and the sense of excitement reaching the next level or the pain of getting killed and losing 10%EXP.... most of all I miss the boat rides where the barlog would attack and end up killing the noobs

More than 10 years of my life * - * Started in 2004 and finished about 2014 cause of BB and another stupid changes :< I rebember smell I felt when I watch some locations or music.... ehhh MS2 is totally lack of freedom in the world. Its open world but nothing to do solo what was so good in MS1

But the game slowly died because people was over repetition and hardcore grinding no? That's when they added potential and make levelling easier?
