"Not A Number" - A Poem By Alysia Nicole Harris

The International Labor Organization estimates that 5 million children at this moment are caught up in human trafficking. Trafficking takes place when someone’s vulnerability is exploited for profit. January is National Human Trafficking Prevention Month. Knowing your own vulnerabilities and supporting others is something you can do to prevent trafficking. I love that she isnt afraid to be vulnerable in such a distant invulnerable world. In such a fake world. Her experiences are the sun peeking through on a cloudy day.

“Shut up and be happy somebody wants you” hit different. Survivor here, this is extremely touching and beautiful. Many years felt worthless due to the trauma, still struggle today but I take it day by day and with the help of the Lord. Thank you for this ❤️

@@eva-mariawagner5672 The people who have historically controlled the publishing and spread of poetry most certainly did know race. There is a solid relationship between whose art has been remembered and who has been in power. Just because that relationship might not have affected you or your ancestors doesn't mean it isn't real.

Wishing I could like this a thousand times. Been a fan of Alyssia for years since I discovered her and the Strivers Row crew back then. I keep coming back to this and her other works that have been immortalised on this platform, wishing I had the words to express all that is in my heart, and grateful there is atleast someone who does.

Such a beautiful poem! Made me cry to realize how broken this world really is that people would sell our children for other people's pleasure. I want to help stop this once and for all. I want all of you out there who this has happen to know that your not alone and that you deserve so much more. You are so beautiful and loved by the one who is bigger than this world.

Your soul is not damaged goods, don’t count your past against you a few mistakes just gives your skin that human hue, that hue that says I’ve been put into dark places but did not stay there! 🙏🏾🙏🏾✨💕
