    Very good, thanks. Eggs are cheap: 6 for £1 but likely from caged hens. Rump steak £4.30/Kg: cheap. Imported cheese is a luxury: cheddar £16/Kg. The drinks in cartons are basically sugar-water; better to drink water and eat the local-market fruit!

    good cheddar is 10-12 euro a kilo in Europe but hey it is import transportation is alwaays issue in Madagascar value of isle rouge is services....everything manual not products for that go to USA

    I think is not a racism issue, it's an issue of credibility and reliability. Probably very few local people can supply the big chain like that. And they are not interested to consider. Supplying perishable goods is not an easy job. I am doing the same thing with seafood. It can be a nightmare.

    A small amount of Pepsi and at the moment there is no Coca-Cola sprite or Fanta as the local bottling company messed the contract up they probably didn't pay there bill to Coca-Cola so they pulled out of Madagascar

    @@passivenomads actually it is not local company it is HUGE company from France and they had license all over Africa but Coca Cola was so stingy they finished contract and started bottling their own cola products now they are starting business with company in Madagascar

    @@danieleverywhere132 it was a company called Star that lost the contract there is a new company that now has the contract and Madagascar will soon have Coca-Cola back again but your right they did have the contract for mainland Africa as well

    there is price control regarding rice and oil but transportation costs are high and Nosy Be is island so things cost more

    Normal locals buy in the fresh markets ... much cheaper if you don't mind the flies.

    @@trevorsmith7753 cheaper because local produce and often lower quality and of course transport costs almost nothing flies are not a problem because meat is sold daily local markets don't have refridgerators
