Oh man, I remember the little magnetic board games and the pocket toys. Thanks for unlocking those memories!
That pocket bowling game is absolute brain-candy! I love travel games and travel distractions like that--speaking of travel board games. The idea of something to pass the time on road trips or (nowadays) train rides and hotel stays, O yes. It appeals to me in a certain soft way. It's cozy.
Very cool video Dan, a friend and I were talking about this exact subject the other day. Christmas nostalgia is strong, and the toys that werent figures that I remember are many. For me it was the Monster Machine, a battery powered vehicle that had a ludicrous number of wheels that they claimed could "Climb anything!"
The trick with that plane Dan, is the propellers peg together after you take them out of the case. I had the Helicopter and it's propeller worked the same way.
I definitely never knew about Snakes and Ladders. I grew up playing Chutes and Ladders though!
I'm of an age where Action Man was the only action figure available in the UK. Big toys for Christmas were usually big diecast models, made by Dinky or Corgi, and those that were TV tie-ins - from shows like Thunderbirds, Captain Scarlet, Joe 90, or UFO (Dinky), or Batman, James Bond, The Man From UNCLE, (Corgi), etc. I still have all mine, too. Battered from play, but I wouldn't get rid of them. After I was about ten, all I wanted was plastic construction kits. Easy to buy for, I was.
Phar-Mor is where I got all of my Silverhawks on clearance. That is also where I did all of my video game rentals until they closed and we moved on to Blockbuster. Miss that store!
That bowling game that you showed reminded me of the Tomy Strolling Bowling game I had as a kid... I loved that thing!
"I like shiny things!" - Literal Magpie Dan XD I was a British kid of the 90s and, like a lot of British kids of the '90s, were enthralled by the revitalisation of the Gerry Anderson series like Stingray, Thunderbirds and Captain Scarlet (for some reason our TV stations started showing them all again...I think there was an anniversary, coupled with the development of VHS...things like that), so my big toy nostalgia is the Tracy Island playset from Thunderbirds. Tracy Island for 90s British kids was kind of what the MOTU Castle Grayskull was for 80s American kids. I think that it was even the Number 1 Christmas Toy in the year it was released in the 90s (must have been '95)...I remember opening mine up in the middle of the living room all those years ago...And I no longer have the Thunderbirds themselves, but when the 50th anniversary recently came around, they re-released them, so eventually I grabbed all the vehicles again and they have the best home, because I also recently dug out and cleaned up my Tracy Island and the electronics still works. ^^ FAB!
MEMORY UNLOCKED! I had the helicopter pocket power and launched it on Mark Hughes roof. My father had to match his 30 foot ladder down the street to fish in out of the rain gutter. Haven’t thought about that in decades….
God bless you, many people collect to bring back childhood nostalgia, however instead of having these toys as a child i watched your reviews, you had a part in my childhood so thankyou.
I remember the little magnet sometimes being lodged in the plastic hole a little too deep and it wouldn't stick to the board. 😆 When I was little magnets were coool! I myself, loved the chess one! 🙂
Koosh were always fun to me, but I still have 3 or 4 that survived childhood. I got the ball-in-cup game and monkeys in a barrel because of nostalgia.
All small pocket sized toys. I always loved the mechanical Tomy pocket games!
First time i ever ear about Pocket Power thise look awesome !!!
I had at least 3 of the Pocket Powers and I completely forgot until I watched this video! Of course I immediately went to eBay. Merry Christmas Dan!
This video just reminded that I used to have a pocket power road blaster!!!! I'd totally forgot about it!!!
Annnnd now I'm watching all of this on eBay. Thanks for the great promo spot for my novel! Awesome video as always, Merry Christmas.
The video is interesting, you talk about the toys that marked your childhood, here in Argentina 🇦🇷 we had other toys, both Bootlegs and original ones. But without a doubt, the true toys that marked my childhood were Rambo, Ghostbuster, Transformers, Mazinger Z and luxury TMNT 👏🏻🇦🇷
I.remember pharmour. I used to get battle beasts there as a kid. My favorite non action toy as a kid was a thing made of blocks you could twist into shapes.
Never had any of the pocket powers... I think I remember the commercials, though. They're all pretty cool I might try to hunt one down.
The snakes and ladders game makes me think of a pen I had that had a connect four game in it.
Love the nostalgia this video brings. I can remember all of these. Thanks for the memories.
Pocket Power! Yes! I had that hovercraft and always wanted the skeleton. I remember wondering why it had a Sega logo on it and not being related to a video game
The pocket power toys wow what a cool toy line I'm not an 80s or 90s kid but I find that line more interesting than the toy lines we have today, more videos like these Dan there great, and I too recently bought something for myself for Christmas that I had as a kid, it's an awesome hit of dopamine
Silly Putty, Rock em sock em robots. And Mattel electronic football. I never/still dont like sports, but I loved that game.
Great video Dan...brings back all the nostalgia feels. Man, Phar-Mor was a blast from the past! Merry Christmas to you and your family!
There's some McDonald's Muppet Babies Happy Meal toys that I had as a kid and I really want to get them back. Ditto for the Strollin' Bowlin' game, and the tank and racing LCD games from Radio Shack.
I had Glow Bones as a kid. That's the one everyone wanted!
I completely forgot about Pocket Power toys. I had the race car and probably a couple others. They made for great road trip toys. I use some of those pocket games for my other job...they're a fun way to keep my kiddos occupied during downtime. Other fun non-action figure toys for me were Flipsiders (games disguised in cassette tapes), Colorforms, Pocket Rockers, and of course...POGs....because 90s. I had a bunch of the Slammer Whammers brand milk cap game and several SkyCaps featuring moments from the Death and Return of Superman and Knightfall. Good nostalgic stuff Dan, thanks!

Hell yeah on Flipsiders. Those provided hours of fun.
Great video! I have glow bones from my childhood, I think it’s the best of the pocket power collection. Regards Dan! Cool channel my friend, a hug from Argentina! 😁💪🏻
As soon as you mentioned Pocket Power, I thought of the Turbo Prop one that you eventually showed. I got a lot of play time out of that little thing. I wonder where it is now.
I wanted that Pocket Power Turbo Prop so bad, but my Dad wouldn't buy it for me. It sucked being a kid with no money of my own! We also had yoyos as stocking stuffers one Xmas my brothers had ones shaped like a hand grenade and a basball, and mine was a coiled red snake.
Those magnetic board games were such a staple for me! I had a whole bunch of them, I remember one was dinosaur themed? I'm not really sure what it was at this point but I remember having a lot of fun with them on road trips and also just sitting around the house. This video was awesome, thank you so much!
Those were awesome!! 🎁
I think I had the bowling game when I was a kid - my dad was a professional bowler so we would have some of that stuff around. One thing that I haven't tracked down that I want is the Tyco RC Bandit - you see the mini bandits all the time, but the full size one is hard to come by and a lot of the Tyco RC cars are expensive. I just want it for my shelf so I don't really want to pay $200+ when I could just use that towards a modern RC car.
Loved my light up YO YO! Besides superheroes right now I am searching for the original The Simpsons and Family Guy Action Figures. Any Stewie figure is a must in my opinion.
Merry Christmas, Dan!
This was a great video Dan.. you should definitely do more like this! You are so right about that nostalgic feeling you get about some of those great toys and merch we all had as kids…. Top video. Have a merry Christmas.

I would love to see periodic reto toy reviews.
Since Mattel owns the Tyco brand they should reissue some of these like the Glo-Bones or the UFO as well as the Bowling Alley.
I remember yoyo's being real popular back in the 90's. There was a guy who would drive around town selling yoyo's out the back of his truck. Like cheap to expensive $100 competition yoyo's. I bet the internet put him out of business.
I have a complete Glow Bones, it's my favorite Halloween toy!
The Slinky was amazingly fun
I still Have my Super soakers From Back then. I remember too In like 91 I got the technodrome playset & super soaker 100 & a 50. Then in 92 I got the super soaker 200. Those were awesome back in the days. I never got the 300.I wanted one But had to settle for 200.Slinky I had too & I had those little imperial dinosaurs too. We had CHutes & ladders.Monopoly, Mouse trap ect.
Whoa...😮...that's a heIIa neat Yoyo...🤘🏼💯✔️
Great stuff as always PD!!!! I had Star Wars and Super Heros as Action Figures.... but none Action figures I had stuff loke Licon Logs,Erector Set.... Games like Clue and Monopoly.. And one of my favorite games was that Table top Hockey game where the players were connected to metal rods to move them back and forth hours of fun....but that was about it!!! It was all About Star Wars for the most part growing up for me.. keep up the great work 👍
Wow I had that bowling pin set. I forgot all about it.
You need to do flipsiders toysplosion episode to go with this one. Dungeon master was my favorite
same exact thing happened to me with the pocket power, i remembered having the helicopter that i bought outside school when i was a kid but couldn't remember what line it was i thought it was a bootleg or something then one day i saw it! , was pocket powers and it did really flew very high and the same day i got the helicopter it got stolen from a jealous dummy and i had to buy another one , very nostalgic but i always remember that little helicopter that got stolen from me.
Here in Sweden *Kalmar Trissan* was the _go to brand_ when speaking of Yo-Yo:s. I think it was in the early 90's that the Coca Cola branded Yo-Yo:s made their way into the market, and every school yard in the country. Even if the Fanta, and maybe Sprite one, was the coolest looking ones with their semi transparent plastic in orange and green, the obvious choice was the red and white Coca Cola. I still remember how I had to nag, and nag on me dad to buy one at the gorocery store. Probably for allot more than it was worth 😄
I had some of each of these- I think I remember seeing commercials for the Duncan yoyos a lot at the time. For the pocket games, I had a kind of knockoff version of Battleship that used rubbery pieces like Colorforms instead of magnetic pieces, I guess it was a dollar store type thing because I can't find anything like it online. Also, when you mentioned smaller board games, I thought of Flipsiders, I loved those and I think I still have all of my old ones.
Theres a toy I loved during the grossout craze of the 80’s but all I can remember about it is how it smelled…. Exactly like poop. Memory can be so frustrating. One of my other favorites was my vampire bloodsucker pen!
Master Pixel!! 👏🏻👏🏻🏅
14:00 Those propellers (or whatever they may be called) look a bit distorted. If you could straighten then up I'm sure it would work.
So you're the person that bought it I was wondering who I sold it too
I had the mtorcycle and the chopper when i was 11 ...what a memories
The propellers get pushed together to make a + shape. Then it will fly.
I think "chutes" was an American only thing... We only ever had snakes in New Zealand anyway
Hi Pixel Dan I love toys
*hears the song is by Stan Bush* I MUST HEAR THIS!!!!!
I'd rather have you continue Board!
i was always a non action figure kinda of kid i like them but always preferd stuff like this
There were no dollar stores back then. Not when those came out. You might have been thinking about the penny store, but there wasn't no such thing as a dollar store. Didn't come out until about the early 90s. 1990 to be exact, you're showing toys from the 19. What nineteen hundreds nineteen twenties is many many years difference
I'd take anything Corey Feldman said with a grain of salt cuz he seems like he's a burnout and not all there half the time just saying
I recently went to a con, and on one of the tables I saw a Flipsider. I hadn't thought about those in 30 years, but the moment I saw it there, I had to have it.

I want to find some of those. I remember having a few and thinking they were so cool. Definitely a fun gimmick for a board game...they worked well.
