All of you commenting that this crew is so unprofessional are definitely not pilots at all. If you were to ever step inside a cockpit you would know that saying a few words here in there is not unprofessional at all and it happens same way everyone says things in their workplace. The Captain here was just joking around about the passenger. The fact he questioned whether the passenger could enter the US it shows that he is ahead of the game, thinking for this passenger that misplaced her passport. As a pilot you are considering many things at the same time, weather, plane conditions, trying to depart on time, airplane performance etc and the fact that just when you are about to pushback they tell you one passenger misplaced their passport, this could cause a significant delay so he was just joking about the situation, relax peeps. Furthermore we are once again reminded of his professionalism by the fact he crosschecked the take off performance as there was a discrepancy between both pilots EFB’s. Once you have flown your plane for a while you know the average take off speeds depending on weight and runway&wx condition but he still insisted on making sure. Before you speak make sure you understand what people are talking about, it’s too easy to comment what you like or dislike

I'm a simple former private pilot and aviation lover, this video is a jewel to me. We rarely see Captain managing such real life issues on KZread. These little unexpected that can quickly become a nightmare. A Captait is not only responsibilities of the flight. He is responsible of a team and of the coordination with the different crews (cabin crew, ground crew, ramp agent, etc...) Dealing with a passport thought to be lost at the last minute plus a discrepency between the two takeoff performance calculators is quite a challenge which if not well managed, can lead to delay, loss of crew focus, etc etc... This Captain mastered it ! It looks like he is born for that ! I would feel very secure as his passenger. Ok he has rude words which makes him more human than many youtube pilots that we see. And I like authenticity. It may shock people searching for a clean perfect idealized representation of a duty but they don't surely see the core of the Captain's role. I love this video. Very interresting to see how a professional handle these kind of situations !

Lol this Captain is epic ! 🤣🤣🤣 Very authentic with an Irish humour ! I like it ! THIS VIDEO IS A VERY GOOD EXAMPLE OF A CAPTAIN MANAGING VERY WELL AN UNEXPECTED EVENT AND A SOFTWARE ISSUE. EXCELLENT ! We can see he is mastering the procedures as he almost instinctly noted the discrepency between the two takeoff performance calculators. He stresses on what is not to be missed, communicate well with his crew and direct them very well. This is my opinion. The way he also kept his calm for the false lost passport and used humour is a proof of good management in case of unexpected. A passport loss can become a great issue for a departing flight. A very good managment ! THANKS FOR THIS VIDEO !

Wow that Captain needs some training. Losing your passport is a serious issue. I would take that passenger even if she doesnt have it. She was an American. She has a ticket. Let her sort it out at the Immigration. Glad she found her passport.

Yes, Norwegian Airline is a safe one and flown with many times, they are good. I had flown with other Airlines before them and always was nervous or something did happen during flights but then when flown with them, I could relax more..they know their stuff, dont making sudden nearly stall take off, not dropping a few feets to fly into a heavy dark cloud or making sudden sharp turns during approach...German wings was a good airline too carried safely me during my pregnancy until one pilot years ago did ruin their name of airline and they went into no more airline, anymore..Norwegian carried my baby was only some months old and carried him safely from one country to another one, which German wings did while he was still in my womb, while years earlier Ryanair stalled nearly at take off and maked this sudden swing during approach, I hit my cheek into the window cause it was so sharp and sudden turn people screamed up and by landing they did clap, SAS flew through that dark cloud and people screamed as it felt the plane dropped suddenly a few feets...which it did. Norwegian I never had any bad expiernece nor with once Germanwings.

I question the camera placement that features a large and uninteresting segment of nontransparent fuselage in the center of the image. Following pushback, I was never sure whether the aircraft was in the air or parked on the ground. I have to assume that the plane flew from point A to point B.

I was on this same LGW->LAX flight, also on a 787 (first time for me), about 5 years later. Uneventful, though we landed pretty hard. I wonder how the lost-passport passenger even got on the flight. I assume I'd be f**** if that happened to me, even as a USA citizen, and I'd be stuck at LAX for hours if I got that far. Though at LAX you usually are anyway because it is so overcrowded.

Low cost airline, London is the biggest city in western Europe and Gatwick is the cheapest London airport that can take the 787. Stansted can as well but doesn't have the demand and is already a hub for one of Norwegians biggest competitors Ryanair.
