Hey, lovely people! 🌟 Our sincerest apologies for the slip-up with mispronunciation of the name of the Town of A in the Lofoten Islands. (Our German and French skills didn’t help us here) 🙈✨ Blame it on our overwhelming excitement for the start of our road trip! We hope you can forgive us for this tiny pronunciation hiccup! Hello! I subscribed a while back but this is the first time I have commented, just to say what amazing videos! Always interesting and informative and a nice balance of (great) camera work, drone footage and music. I really look forward to watching them! I have never been out of the UK on a motorcycle, as I now have a BMW1250RT I am thinking of visiting the Picos de Europa in Spain. Regards Dennis. 😀

Hi Dennis, thanks so much for commenting -it’s really nice to hear from you 😊. We are glad to hear you enjoy the videos and feedback on the format is appreciated. Congratulations on the RT! We haven’t ridden that one yet but with that engine and the comfortable riding position it’s perfect for touring. Spain would a great trip, we did a tour of Spain Portugal and Gibraltar early this year (perhaps you’ve seen already). Thanks again for your kind words of encouragement and we hope to hear from you again. Sean and Emily Heading South; kzread.info/head/PLl_mRzVHVQ0yRXu9qeZuZWnHoS1KQV7_8&si=_JtGX09tgVPSHP1o

The wooden things (hjell) you mentioned are indeed for drying fish. The fish are hung up for several months to dry (though not at the time you visited). Apparently seagulls don't have the toe at the back of their feet so they can't balance on the wooden poles and eat the fish. See you in the next one!

  • @SeanandEmily

The build up area of Å is pronounced O(h) like in the english word town (approx) not A. The wooden racks are indeed used to dry fish on, north atlantic cod mostly. No Lofoten does not get very cold compared to inland Norway. Coastal climate versus inland climate - read up on that guys. And the most important thing is the Gulf stream coming from the mexican gulf bringing temperated seawater along the coast - making it relatively temperated compared to similar latitudes. By all means - it can get minus 10-15 degrees, but inland Norway easily gets minus 30-40 degrees in comparison. Have a great trip! Reagards from a RTW motorbike traveller and originally from Lofoten.😊

Hi Kurt, Yeah we realized that after we had left (see the first comment) but thanks or the tip. -10 and -15 is pretty cold! dread to think what -40 feels like! Experienced -30 (with wind chill) in Canada once snowboarding and my eye brows froze up quickly lol. What a wonderful place to grow up! @@SeanandEmily My favorite country of all 55 I visited was Indonesia. That country is so weird (in a positive way) and so totally different than any western country that it easily became my favorite. Of course south American countries are great to travel through, Bolivia and Peru especially but Brasil, Argentina, Chile, Equador and Colombia not far behind. Honorably mentions: Romania, Kyrgizstan, Laos and New Zealand PS - I didt go to Africa.

Thanks again for a wonderful video. Info about climate. Lofoten is not particularly cold in the winter, the average temperature in January is 0 degrees celsius, being similar to Denmark. (Though less daylight) Winter temperatures in Norway are determined by distance from the ocean and altitude. The inland areas of southern Norway are colder than by the ocean north of the Arctic circle. The winter temperature all along the Norwegian coastline is moderated by the ocean current from the Gulf of Mexico.

Hi Hallvard, thanks for watching the Lofoton island videos, these are some of our favorites =) That's surprising but understandable now you mention why. That's interesting to know, here in Switzerland it's obviously the same with altitude but as we have no oceans we never really thought about the effect that has on temperatures.
