The 2008 Kennedy International North West 200 was rocked by the tragic death of Robert Dunlop, one of the event's, and Northern Ireland's, most successful competitors. With the Dunlop family's backing the racing went on, and the biggest names in the sport put on an incredible show. The fast and furious action, with some of the closest contests the nine-mile County Antrim circuit has seen, was a fitting tribute.
This excellent review brings you awesome highlights from Superbike, Supersport, Superstock and the emotionally-charged 250cc race. The best camera angles, including plenty of on-board footage, bring you all the elbow-to-elbow drama.
The North West is one of the sport's great events, and '08 was a vintage year. The record-breaking crowd was treated to jaw-dropping battles between the biggest names in motorcycle racing, including John McGuinness, Steve Plater, Michael Rutter, Ian Lougher, Bruce Anstey, Guy Martin, Ryan Farquhar, Alastair Seeley and many, many more.
This review gives you the best seat in the house as you enjoy race-long clashes, with incredible passes, breathtaking slip-streaming and amazing aerial footage as the finest road racers trade positions, and blows, at speeds of up to 190mph.
The unforgettable moments just keep coming - Rutter's dramatic win on the Kennedy-backed North West 200 Ducati, Seeley keeping the TAS Suzukis at bay, Martin's Superbike heartbreak, Plater's hat trick and, of course, the incredible 250cc race, which saw Michael Dunlop battle for an emotional win just two days after the loss of his dad.
To make sure you get the full story, this review includes interviews with many of the big names and informed commentary courtesy Keith Huewen, road racing legend Phillip McCallen and fellow racing star Steve Parrish.
Bonus features - complete on-board laps with Plater in the opening Supersport race and Conor Cummins in the Superstock race. We're on INSTAGRAM: bit.ly/2evtvsg

I absolutely love bikes .....as a ex Motorcross rider who's raced at a competitive level I know a little bit about racing .......but I really struggle with this lot I really do......these guys that race on these circuits especially the TT ....I can't help thinking that their really selfish ...the ones that have kids and close family ....when they die their family always say they died doing wot they loved doing but they died doing wot their family hated .....the last thing that goes thru their mind ain't nuffin to do with love when they crash ....it's FUCK....I've got 3 little girls under 6 and the only thing that stops me getting a bike on the road is the realistic chance that I mite not come home after going out on my bike.....I just don't get it the TT even tho I love watching it is just so dangerous.....if you hit a fonebox at 180mph it's curtains....sorry you bike fans but that is just my opinion !!

Road racing is not for everyone and that's fine. You're entitled to your view, if it's not for you then no problem, don't watch it. But attitudes to life (and death) vary and it's important to respect that we're all wired differently. Let me explain from a road racer's perspective. a) Road racers don't risk death - we all die. What a road racer risks is years. Potentially a shorter life with racing, instead of potentially a long life without racing. But nothing is guaranteed. My father never raced and died of cancer at 46, I raced and retired fit and healthy. b) The phrase that "he died doing what he loved" is misleading. No racer WANTS to die and if you knew it was coming, you wouldn't race. A much more fitting expression is to say someone "lived doing what they loved". They dreamed of being a road racer, and that's what they became. They lived their dreams. I lived mine and raced at the TT, even though I wasn't much good. Not many people can say they really lived theirs. c) The idea that families hate it is misleading. Some do, mine weren't keen and personally, I wouldn't have raced with kids. But some families love it, the whole family goes along. It's a way of life for them. Of course they don't like the risk but to see their loved ones chasing dreams is an extremely positive experience and real family affair. In a nutshell, if it's not your bag then no problem, it's not for everyone. But you take risks racing motocross that others wouldn't understand. I don't understand that attraction of people smoking their way to cancer. But we respect each other's right to make our own choices. Please don't allow the fact you don't personally understand the attraction of road racing, to lead you down the path of calling for it to be banned. Each to their own.

I agree it’s not morally right for married men with children to be dying for selfish reasons. I love these races. The wives know the risk marrying somone like that but the kids would never consent to having a dead dad because of a bike race
