My daughter's great grandpa remembers riding in the wagon from the homestead in Coulterville to Chinese Camp to catch the train to Oakdale. This is along what is now Highway 49. Been through here many times, and yeah, I wouldn't doubt it being haunted.

I live in Tuolumne County about 15 minutes from Chinese Camp. Kiddos and I were just there a few weeks ago (again) reading the amazing centuries old headstones around the little Church of Europeans (one Native American women/mother, zero Chinese people) who’d immigrated to the new world, lived & worked here in Chinese Camp. Each headstone includes the person’s name, dob, date of death along with the Country of their ancestral homeland in Europe most of who’d come from Ireland and England. The little Christian Church & graveyard is now owned and cared for by the Catholic Church in downtown Sonora, locally referred to as the “Red Church”.

Tuolomne and Sonora are more central CA, but many people just label everything north of Los Angeles as ”NorCal”. You mentioned that the “surrounding town” was creepy. While I’ve never been to Chinese Camp (though I had been quite near it frequently), the town proper of Tulomne is just a quiet little small mountain town with a couple shopping centers, a couple gas stations, and a Foster Freeze burger joint. More recently, the Black Oak Indian Casino was built (about 15 years ago). Anyway, my point is that there’s not too much creepiness to be found in the surrounding town. It’s a historic place, lots of easily accessible hiking trails with astounding mountain vistas.

@@danielamaro4439 yes the halfway marker for north and south is located in Madera, Ca. Around ave.13 and hwy. 99. Its marked in the center of the freeway with Sequoia redwood tree marking northside and a palm tree marking the southside of the state.

I know all about the palm tree on 99 marking the halfway point. I’ve lived here my entire life, except for college. My point is that there is more than just NorCal and SoCal. The Central part of the state in fact does exist, not just geographically, but culturally. Yes, you can just look at the palm tree and say everything on one side is NorCal and everything on the other side is SoCal. But I would venture to guess that everyone who lives in the 209 area code would more likely identify as Central Californian.

I grew up in Antioch, graduated AHS in ‘76. Used to party with friends at the Black Diamond mines, & can tell you stories of ghostly encounters different members of my family had out there, including my grandmother who was taking pictures of the oak trees & saw bodies or heads hanging from the tree branches, and my step dad who ran out of gas near sundown on the road (before it got closed off) that went from Kirker Pass to the mines & on out to Sommersville Rd…he was walking with his gas can toward Antioch when he was given a ride by a silent man driving a 2 horse team wagon…when he got off the wagon & turned to thank the man, the man had vanished! My dad was FREAKED OUT! The Mines are pretty spooky too! Well, they were b4 they were turned into a tourist attraction…

It's Chinese Camp not town and the town your investigating isn't the original town. The original town is under Don Pedro because it was flooded to create the reservoir. The mansion of the town founder and mine owner became visible for the first time in God knows how long because the water level was so low. You could also see the remanence of the old camp and the mine were also showing.

More historical than haunted
awesome vedio! looks like a very peaceful ghost town! great find!

Just because it's old and abandoned does not make it haunted. The music seems to be the haunted part. Is it for sale?
It's Chinese Camp not town and the town your investigating isn't the original town. The original town is under Don Pedro because it was flooded to create the reservoir. The mansion of the town founder and mine owner became visible for the first time in God knows how long because the water level was so low. You could also see the remanence of the old camp and the mine were also showing.

Just a few things that I noticed. For a ghost town, why is there still power meters, A/C's, parked cars, etc. If the place were haunted (and I am not saying that it isn't), I know I wouldn't be hanging around to install the amenities.
I believe certain places give off vibes. I have experienced that feeling once when in the Catskills we found an abandoned house w artifacts! Even an old boot for a woman and a brass bed. The wind pickedvup and I got the chills, the hair on my arms and neck stood up and I said, "it's time to go!"

All the expertly placed "No Trespassing" signs are meaningless. Pigs like to apply the law out of context, to trespass a person you must steal apple from their tree, or drink from their pond. Walking up to a door to knock on it is totally legal. Most people call that soliciting... you can solicit your channel (ask the owner if you can record it, not your fault the owner is irresponsible)

So if you divide California in half Chinese camp is in Northern California. That is why I titled it Northern California.

I grew up in Calaveras, Amador and Tuamie counties areas There is lots historical sites all over the place when I was a teenager in the late 70s early 80s we used to go exploring around in these areas. They’re definitely old, but not haunted. matter fact, one of the buildings that you show in your video is a state historical landmark. If you can see the placard my grandparents old ranch in double Springs California has a old stage coach Wells Fargo stop there, and also the neighbor has the old mine in their pasture. It’s not haunted, your video was OK but it could’ve done without the creepy music
Its look like the movie rongtorn

Not much of a narrative. I was thinking maybe a bit more historical stuff. What were active dates of the town and what happened to cause it to be abandoned? You claim its haunted but never address any of that information.
