North Sheridan Road: Driving in Northside Chicago: 4K Streets of the Americas
Do you know any streets in Chicago area that makes you wanna scratch your head and can't figure out how it was laid out and why. Well Sheridan Road in Chicago does definitely fit that profile. Feels like Sheridan Road has a rhythm of its own, at times running north south and at times east west. After all it is one of the iconic streets in Chicago and north Chicagoland area.
Sheridan Road is a major north-south street that leads from Diversey Parkway[1] in Chicago, Illinois, north to the Illinois-Wisconsin border and beyond to Racine. Throughout most of its run, it is the easternmost north-south through street, closest to Lake Michigan. From Chicago, it passes through Chicago's wealthy lakeside North Shore suburbs, and then Waukegan and Zion, until it reaches the Illinois-Wisconsin state line in Winthrop Harbor. In Wisconsin, the road leads north through Pleasant Prairie and Kenosha, until it ends on the south side of Racine.
From North Chicago to the state line, Sheridan Road is signed as part of Illinois Route 137 in Illinois, and Wisconsin Highway 32 through Kenosha and Racine in Wisconsin. Sheridan Road is known for its historic sites, lakefront parks, and gracious mansion homes in Evanston through Lake Bluff.
Today we will be navigating the Chicago portion of Sheridan Road from Diversey Parkway all the way up to Juneway Terrace at the border of Chicago and the City of Evanston on a quiet and foggy Sunday afternoon.
The trip length is 7 miles and took just about 28 minutes to complete it. Enjoy

This video reminded me a lot when I lived in Chicago. My apt was on Sheridan Rd and Thorndale. I left in 2005 and have not came back to revisit. Thanks.
Great video. I did the entire Sheridan Rd route all the way to Wisconsin 1 year or 2 ago.
I lived on Sheridan road in 1974-1975 as a child. The white building on the right at 9:20 (not sure if it's the same building) was G & L Grocer where we bought groceries most of the time and the apartment building on the left at 9:29 now called Sheridan courts was were we lived on the third floor. Our bedroom window faced the little store were we used to sit in the window and watch the people come and go nonstop through the side alley. It wasn't the best neighborhood at that time but I have great memories of my childhood and walking down that street every day going to school at Horace Greeley that was on Shefield at the time right by a big old storage building called Huburt storage (spelling?).
Sheridan Road is one of the most beautiful road in Chicago. I lived here for over 20 years in a highrise by the lake.

yeah sheridan reall ydoes go MUCH further north than North of evanston.
North side of Chicago where if you don't learn how to parallel park you won't survive.
