NORTH KOREA | CYCLING ACROSS ICONIC BRIDGE IN PYONGYANG
Pyongyang, is the largest city in North Korea and also the capital of North Korea, with a population of around 3,183,000 people in 2023. Bicycles are still one of the main transportation for people in Pyongyang. The average North Korean person walks 10,000 steps every day (7.6 kilometers), so you can imagine how much distance they can get if they use a bicycle. Bicycle ownership in North Korea is recorded by the government, as is motorbike and car ownership. In this video, I will take you cycling across a very historic bridge in North Korea, namely the Taedong Bridge.
Taedong Bridge was built by the Japanese and completed in 1905. It is one of Pyongyang's two oldest east-west connections via the Taedong Gang, along with the Yanggak Bridge, built in the same year.
It was largely destroyed in the Korean War. When Chinese troops advanced near Pyongyang in the winter of 1950, thousands of civilians fled to the rubble of the bridge to cross the river in which several people were killed. The crossing of the ruined Taedong Bridge was part of the larger evacuation of Pyongyang during the Korean War.
Thank you and happy watching.

Jaka , 10000 steps walked everyday by the average Korean must keep them very fit ? Pyongyang like Copenhagen the capital of Denmark most transportation around the city is by bicycle and why not ?. The city design suites it ,planned bicycle paths everywhere you can see them in the video. With cycling there is no pollution, fitness for the rider , and less to no car accidents .

if bicycles were really a promoted means of transport, they would let them ride on that empty roads, and probably put a bicycle lane, be it narrower on the bridge. Instead of having cars as the king of the road. If DPRK is truly regarding about the people, then cars should be labelled as bourgeois, just like in Maoist China.
