It's not .30-06, it's .22-250. The advantage of the .22-250 over the .22LR is that the range is longer, and trajectory is flatter. I'm not knocking the .22LR, though. It's a great round as well.
It's so nice to see these great big open spaces. It's good to have land.
Exactly. M. Mason, K. Tanoose showed me this back in 1996 at Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska and a few other places. They had great respect for the observers. Much love, Anthony Strawbridge
Savage has really come along way in the last 15-20 years.
I'm sure that 338 would make a great prairie dog rifle.

That looks so much fun😁
So funny when they explode
Keith warren is such a badass!!
agreed! hell the last 3 to 4 years has been a Major change!
Savage model 12, fluted barrel. One hell of a gun.
If you love Animals, you're pro hunting.
Keith, have you ever tried using the Savage 93r17 in 17 HMR? That's what I use and they do a good job.
The rifles for this trip were provided by Savage and were set up by Savage. I prefer BSA Optics.
looks fun!
Love it! keep it up!
Nice videos Keith!
I have a Savage model 12 stainless steel fluted bull barrel in 22 250 Rem like these guys are shooting. It has a Burris Black Diamond scope and is a excellent shooter. It is a great gun for this type of pest destruction and is not overkill at all. It will kill instantly and humanely unlike a .22 rimfire which would most likely only wound them and make them suffer, unless you are close enough for a direct headshot. If you are looking for a great. 22 highpower look at Savage can't beat the price and quailty.
sweet shooting! I shoot 22-250 in Scotland and I was wondering how you were adjusting for the range and wind when shooting the Prairie Dogs? also what were the exploding targets and what was the range?!
Bein a North Dakota Boy all my life, we do this during the summer with 22-250's and .243's
Awesome!!
Nice to have Keith a shooting the pr dogs in n dak savage works for me just like they do for Keith heat fun
Great video btw. :)
What power scopes were you guys using?
now i have a problem with my acu trigger any chance you guy could get some thing up on this
These guys need to get a sniperschoice shooting bench and then that will have double the fun
I LOVE my Savage 22-250. It kicks the snot out of my friend's .223 when it comes to dropping Coyotes at long range.
Cool video. Why does it keep saying BSA Optics when all of those rifles clearly wore Nikon Monarch Scopes?
Seems a bit over kill... I like it

Where did you guys shoot? A buddy and I are going down around Selfridge south of Bismarck next week for a few days to shoot. Il be sure to upload the video in glorious 1080p, il post a response.
exellent shooting ! the dogs were split in half, damn nice work

+ahmed moursy Why would you care if they are blown apart or not? You can't eat them and they can carry all sorts of disease to include bubonic plague so you don't want to even pick them up after you kill them. There are plenty of scavengers to clean up the mess. Prarie dogs will even snack on the corpses of their dead buddies.

What time of year do you do this and are prairie dogs open all year long
savage is the most bang for the buck. you can get under 1 moa for their 500 dollar rifles, and their higher end 1k rifles can stack bullets like those 3-6k dollar rifles.
Nice video, enjoyed not only the action, but the comraderi with the others...glad you like Savage arms, I would not have one if it was free, mainly due to poor customer service...that being said, I will continue to watch and enjoy your videos.

I have had the best customer service out of savage myself. I own mainly savage rifles. I love mine. out of all of them I have had to send two back to the factory for rebarreling. they did a fast and great job on them.

@@derekthegreatgonzo Thanks for the reply...best customer service I have had has been Mossberg and Marlin...Mossberg, barrel was crooked...they installed new barrel, free..shoots awesome...Marlin, mechanical failure..warranty work, they sent me brand new replacement rifle...Savage, mechanical issues, Savage would not honor warranty on brand new rifle, only had it 2 weeks. Had someone local help me with repair, honestly, the Savage is very accurate...just sayin'

I do have a inside track at savage. I have never had any luck out of ,mossberg or marlin centerfire rifles at all.
Keith warren is a cool guy
Yes 22-250 with 55 GR Vmax is way to go with prairie dogs. 22 LR is good at max of 100 yards against flicker tail gophers or striped ground squirrels.
I am glad he puts in the stuff about the 2nd amendment! It's important to get it out there!
Awesome work on this video. I also have this kind of video on you tube. I have been doing this for over 20 years and love the sport. It I have learned is not always very well receipted with a few in the world. It is unfortunate that some do not understand that these creatures in some areas cause damage to property. I am sure that you also have had some very negative comments regarding this activity. I for one support it as well as the land owners and the states that allow this. Thanks for posting. Mark.

Keith Warren hi thank you for coming back to me so soon. i am shooting a model 12cal.308win savage it hold only three round and am constantly reloading when i am target shooting i find it frustrating
I can't find that Grizzly 22-250 ammo anywhere.
God! It took six minutes to get to the actual video!
I would suggest maybe using a rifle that shots the inexpensive .223 or 7.62 x 39 round. Bass Pro Shops sells both calibers for around $5.00 for a box/20 of Tulammo. I would suggest .22LR but your are limited in range because of the bullet drop. What is the typical range that you are shooting these prairie dogs at?
@ItsTommmm99
9 жыл бұрын
in the video he said they would be shooting them at between 150 - 400 yards. .22LR would be okay out to 200 yards but that's pushing it.
@G19Jeeper

When you want to make the shots he does, a .223 is sketchy and you'll want to leave your minute-of-pickup truck steel case Ammo at home.
@artsmith103

Tulammo style is practice ammo. They are shooting varmint loads. About $0.50/shot at the lowest.
dandelion guy at the end kinda freaked us out
what caliber is this rifle? .223? .17hmr?
I wish there was this many on my land me and my brother once shot 86 on a 300 yard by 200 yard field
what scopes and what caliber are you guys using?
@camdynmcelroy1750
7 жыл бұрын
Joel Jensen IDK what power scope but I do know he is using a 22-250
Was there something besides a commercial ?
Where do you get those prices?
I love how the prairie dogs are so stupid that when their buddy explodes next to them, they stand taller to figure it out.
My dad and I want to do this but we live in Michigan and there are no parariie dogs in Michigan and we don't know where or when to go we would prob use a 30 odd 6 he's dropped a antelope at360 yards
God, what is with all the AR comments??? Screw ar's!!!! Do I want one, yes, but for long range small target accuracy, bolt gun hands down! You guys do realize that to make a semi auto shoot as accurate as a bolt gun, there is a TON of precision machining involved, hence a lot of money. not to mention, the increased fire rate of a semi auto, yeah, go ahead and get that barrel hot, see what happens to it

Feb 1984, American Rifleman magazine declares the Sako 6mm PPC Bolt Action the most accurate factory rifle they have ever tested as it shoots a remarkable .6 inch group at 100 yards. Feb 1984 SWAT Magazine tests the Olympic Arms Match AR-15 that prints several documented 1/4 inch groups. Remember: Bolt Actions are always more accurate than other guns. When long range shooting, a bolt action is what you need!!
.338 Weatherby > .338 Lapua
.22-250
I can't find Grizzly ammo for 22-250
@TXfrontline They must be sold out right now. Mike is the owner and a really good guy. You can call him and request some 22-250 at 503-556-3006.

are you using a left handed gun

Are they going to eat those oversized rats? I saw them selling that "food saver"?
Dead nuts
Who knows if they're hitting any?!
I have a nail that is sticking out, do you have a giant sledgehammer I can use?
Let's be honest, the Monarch is much better than anything BSA makes.
The more these become endangered, the less my cows break legs in their holes. Keep shooting guys. Please come back anytime.

I didnt know cows were native to North America.
i know you like to reach out a little far but 1.75 to 2.15 a shot that gofer is not wort that but then again the guy wants them all out
I love shooting my savage rifles. I had a 300 win mag and used it for years but sold it and still have my 270 that I shoot and will be buying a 338 lapua mag next. I have a DPMS TPR that's loaded and has a 6x24x50 mm scope and Id love to take it once I get used to shooting it at long ranges and go shoot some of them pesky critters! farmers have a lot of animals hurt by falling in them holes and that costs them money when they lose a cow, calf or a horse over these pests and Id love to take a bunch of them out then fill in the holes. my daughter would even love to go on a shoot!
This is great! Definatly something im going to do. And take your endangered crap somewhere else, if you dont like it stop watching it. Keep it up guys great show
No offense but why would anyone need to "register" to volunteer? Give me a bag to fill. I bring my own shovel. Like when Katrina hit our people were required to go through "sensitivity training" before being allowed to assist. Went to Mississippi instead.
I pay 20 bucks for 20 rounds of winchester varmint x 22-250.
the cal 50 is better
I agree about the dog clean up, but the dog killed at 8:19 was just wrong. I'd have waited until they were done kissing and saying goodbye.

You never answered my question. Why didn't they find the need way back then to do what you do? Also, I am not even CLOSE in the same thinking as a Liberal Progressive Disease. By you associating me with that whacked out mindset and being sympathetic to the life of an animal being brutally wiped out by douchebags like yourself only reveals your jerked off ignorance. I am a STRONG 2nd Amendment advocate. That means I am a supporter.

Unprotected for a reason.
Nobody goes out to get the prairie dogs. Do they suffer a long time? I am only 10 years old, but I feel traumatized. I need to go see my psychiatrist.
you guys should use ar-15's; less recoil, more ammo per mag, and semi auto so you can kill more faster!

Not at those ranges. 250yds minimum
for the Prairie dogs I would use a Ruger 10/22 bullets instead, and it will be more humane kill other than shoot a big chunk of them. just my advice really.
@Brainmalfuction
9 жыл бұрын
try hitting something 100 yards plus with .22 LR let alone having enough energy to kill them instantly 22-250,223,243,222 are all better rounds for dispatching these pests and are far more humane no matter where you hit them they are dead in a split second
@9900atm123

so true
@G19Jeeper
8 жыл бұрын
It would have the opposite effect with a max range of 75 yds before you loose too much energy to ensure a clean kill. Guaranteed these dogs don't feel a thing. The higher calibers are to reach out longer and is why they're used
That is so inhumane use a 50 bmg
to much talk I wanna see prairie dog hunting
It always make me laugh watching these guys use high powered rifles to literally blow these prairie dogs completely apart into chunks of meat. I would use my Marlin .22 rifle & CCI Mini Mags & it would be a hell of a lot cheaper than those expensive 30-06 rounds.. The only drawback is that the exploding meat carnage would be less.
One big ad. Waste of time.
You shouldn't do that on KZread or at all relocate them they don't need to be killed. That is very horrific. I do not approve of this at all. It actually is psychopathic when y'all laugh when you kill one. 😤😠😡😰😥😪😭😢

Not cool dood

If you stopped shooting the foxes, coyotes, big cats, and wolves, you wouldn't have a prairie dog problem.
