    It's not .30-06, it's .22-250. The advantage of the .22-250 over the .22LR is that the range is longer, and trajectory is flatter. I'm not knocking the .22LR, though. It's a great round as well.

    I have a Savage model 12 stainless steel fluted bull barrel in 22 250 Rem like these guys are shooting. It has a Burris Black Diamond scope and is a excellent shooter. It is a great gun for this type of pest destruction and is not overkill at all. It will kill instantly and humanely unlike a .22 rimfire which would most likely only wound them and make them suffer, unless you are close enough for a direct headshot. If you are looking for a great. 22 highpower look at Savage can't beat the price and quailty.

    +ahmed moursy Why would you care if they are blown apart or not? You can't eat them and they can carry all sorts of disease to include bubonic plague so you don't want to even pick them up after you kill them. There are plenty of scavengers to clean up the mess. Prarie dogs will even snack on the corpses of their dead buddies.

    Awesome work on this video. I also have this kind of video on you tube. I have been doing this for over 20 years and love the sport. It I have learned is not always very well receipted with a few in the world. It is unfortunate that some do not understand that these creatures in some areas cause damage to property. I am sure that you also have had some very negative comments regarding this activity. I for one support it as well as the land owners and the states that allow this. Thanks for posting. Mark.

    I would suggest maybe using a rifle that shots the inexpensive .223 or 7.62 x 39 round. Bass Pro Shops sells both calibers for around $5.00 for a box/20 of Tulammo. I would suggest .22LR but your are limited in range because of the bullet drop. What is the typical range that you are shooting these prairie dogs at?

  • @ItsTommmm99

    @ItsTommmm99

    9 жыл бұрын

    in the video he said they would be shooting them at between 150 - 400 yards. .22LR would be okay out to 200 yards but that's pushing it.

    God, what is with all the AR comments??? Screw ar's!!!! Do I want one, yes, but for long range small target accuracy, bolt gun hands down! You guys do realize that to make a semi auto shoot as accurate as a bolt gun, there is a TON of precision machining involved, hence a lot of money. not to mention, the increased fire rate of a semi auto, yeah, go ahead and get that barrel hot, see what happens to it

    Feb 1984, American Rifleman magazine declares the Sako 6mm PPC Bolt Action the most accurate factory rifle they have ever tested as it shoots a remarkable .6 inch group at 100 yards. Feb 1984 SWAT Magazine tests the Olympic Arms Match AR-15 that prints several documented 1/4 inch groups. Remember: Bolt Actions are always more accurate than other guns. When long range shooting, a bolt action is what you need!!

I have a DPMS TPR that's loaded and has a 6x24x50 mm scope and Id love to take it once I get used to shooting it at long ranges and go shoot some of them pesky critters! farmers have a lot of animals hurt by falling in them holes and that costs them money when they lose a cow, calf or a horse over these pests and Id love to take a bunch of them out then fill in the holes. my daughter would even love to go on a shoot!

    for the Prairie dogs I would use a Ruger 10/22 bullets instead, and it will be more humane kill other than shoot a big chunk of them. just my advice really.

    try hitting something 100 yards plus with .22 LR let alone having enough energy to kill them instantly 22-250,223,243,222 are all better rounds for dispatching these pests and are far more humane no matter where you hit them they are dead in a split second

    It would have the opposite effect with a max range of 75 yds before you loose too much energy to ensure a clean kill. Guaranteed these dogs don't feel a thing. The higher calibers are to reach out longer and is why they're used

    It always make me laugh watching these guys use high powered rifles to literally blow these prairie dogs completely apart into chunks of meat. I would use my Marlin .22 rifle & CCI Mini Mags & it would be a hell of a lot cheaper than those expensive 30-06 rounds.. The only drawback is that the exploding meat carnage would be less.

    You shouldn't do that on KZread or at all relocate them they don't need to be killed. That is very horrific. I do not approve of this at all. It actually is psychopathic when y'all laugh when you kill one. 😤😠😡😰😥😪😭😢

    Would be a lot better without all his nonsense about the NRA and the 2nd amendment. Especially from the guy driving a Toyota in this video. I'd rather watch hunting than political grandstanding.

    If you stopped shooting the foxes, coyotes, big cats, and wolves, you wouldn't have a prairie dog problem.
