Life-long hunter and Dakota resident. Amazing to have that moment with Quill on video. Started a new lab last year and it's always special to see that first bird and watch them go from pup to pro. Just as you stated, it can be just one moment on that first solo flush/retrieve. The light switches on, and from then on they know exactly what we are out there for. Beautiful to witness. Thanks for sharing!

as a hunter Pheasant hunter of both SD and ND I have pushed cattails as well BIG SUGGESTION where eye protection a cattail in the eye is not fun from experience

This guy makes me less fearful to ask for hunting access. If you do that in most places in Ohio, you'll probably get cussed out half the time.
