You can tell by the reactions of the fathers that they do NOT condone this behavior. Most households will not let kids get away with this, so don't misunderstand that America is generally like this, because it isn't. It depends on the family, but I can assure you that kids that talk back to their parents are asking for a whooping 😂

@@flannelsone1159 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 I despise people swearing at children, or around them. It’s just not acceptable, I get with this video but damn! It’s shocking. Can’t believe the dad picked up a chair! We don’t hit children in our family either. I used to teach and I didn’t use a loud voice very often, unless it was to be heard. Didn’t need to, treat children with respect, how to respect themselves & others, then you earn their respect. I learned a lot from my teachers at school, most of it was how NOT to treat children, or make them scared all the time. No one can learn or thrive with fear

@@flannelsone1159 That type of thinking is what creates people who don't listen and overly-sensitive people. The pain is temporary but the lesson is permanent or at least long-term. If you get yelled at for something, the only reason you wouldn't do it again is if you're overly sensitive. If you get a whooping for something, you are less likely to do it again because you don't want a whooping for doing it. So, you can have that thought process and that life style as long as you don't try to shame and tell others that they are wrong for how they decide to raise their kids.

@@Lore.n I totally agree, not normal at all. You’re right about it being normalised too. It’s like the gap between people like us who don’t speak to children like that, or fly into a range & people like in the video is widening. There’s not much of a middle ground. A useless boss I had would scream and shout at the children, threatening to stop their playtime/recess, he hated it when I would walk in because the children would fall silent, sit up smartly, a minute before they were all over the floor. They would see others doing it signalling to the others. I didn’t scream and shout, I only raised my voice when I needed to be heard. He just couldn’t deal with it, all he needed to do was copy me. He never learned that as a teacher you earn respect, children aren’t robots, they’re individuals, treat them properly and you get that back. Be there for them if they had a problem, give them appropriate love & affection, put your arm on their shoulder, ruffle their hair, praise them. It’s just not rocket science, one of the most sought after rewards for positive behaviour was a packet of biscuits for the class, it might be a whole class or one child. Especially for the less confident children walking into their classroom, proudly walking in with them and telling the class why, then giving them out…they loved it! An event less ‘expensive’ treat was to use my mini pop corn maker. If adults are always negative with children they can’t flourish, if they’re scared to take a chance in life they can’t be expected to reach their full potential. Give them that confidence and praise to do it. Teach them that if it doesn’t work out it’s fine, learn from it, have another go. So many children are denied that. The families in the video were being taught that if you don’t like something you should fly into a rage and be violent. One phrase I use often ‘do I need to get my cross voice out?’

A lot of people don’t seem to realize-these are NOT pranks on the mom and dad! It is a prank on the dad only, the mom is IN ON THE PRANK! A lot of the time for this challenge it’s the moms setting up and organizing the prank. The kids aren’t just testing out their parents and saying that to their mom, the mom TOLD the kid to scream ‘shut up’ at them, so the moms could film the dad’s reaction. It’s still a stupid prank, but the moms are the masterminds behind them.

Yes, like with my family. When I was a child we could not curse, but as I got older and into a teenager, often times my family would curse around each other and not receive punishment so long as it wasn't used in a disrespectful manner. For example, my one friend said it was weird that my family curses at each other, but in the context we use it, it is just like daily language. Now when I tell my mom ina fight "shut the f up you stupid b" she'd beat my ass but when we are joking "shut the f up" isn't seen as disrespectful. It all depends on the family dynamic and what is acceptable. Of course, I still don't curse around my grandmother and to strangers but in a joking manner with my family or just speaking in general, yes.

I was allowed to swear as a teenager within reason, but never at someone. If someone had ran me over or something was ok. Even in my family now we don’t swear around children or swear at children that’s something that makes my blood boil! 😤 The children I taught thought I never swore, even at home. If a child was overheard swearing, re telling a story after asking permission to say the swear word, we’d all rub our eats to wash away the dirty word. Recently one of the children was with a less ‘bothered’ family home with her friend. She’s 9, the friend’s mum swore at her!!! She was appalled & came home. She also told the mum it was disgusting to use those words. Rightly so! Another child was at a football club for children and one of the coaches swore at one of our children, we gasped at stared at the coach. He said ‘well everyone swears at their kids especially when they’re angry’ not in our family we don’t!

My husband and I don't hit our kids, but my daughter told me to shut up once and I think it's about the closest my husband's ever come to wanting to. She changed her attitude real quick when she saw the look on his face.

6:50 in the US it's very touch and go with step children, there are parents out there who regard their children and their significant other as separate if they're not the biological parent and it quickly becomes a "you don't punish my kid" situation so some step parents will leave the discipline up to the biological parent.

Lol I’ve done it for real, many times. My mother hates me, always preferred my brother even after my father threw my brother out for sexually assaulting me. My moms solution? Nightly the small window I’m in the same room as her (just one hour for dinner) she begins to attack me verbally, either directly or anytime I speak she begins to talk over me to my mom and have a conversation with only him so I’m left alone or she will in the middle of me talking say “what does that have to do with anything”. My dad spends so much time trying to maintain a peace that he wasn’t noticing all the attacks she did until I told him straight out the damage he was doing to me and how many days I hoped to simply not wake up. He’s now trying to do better and he’s noticed she’s doing it but he still doesn’t do anything and just assumes cause I’m “fine” that it can all be ignored. So yes I tell her to shut up frequently

LOL that's what my mother used to say. My mom is very understanding and usually does not get upset but when we are blatantly disrespectful, she will say this as a last chance before we get whooped (that or she would get a leather belt and stand in front of us) She also used to say "see these fingers, see these thumbs, see this fist, you better run." I rarely got whooped as a kid (mainly just soap in the mouth when verbaly disrespectful with curse words or the leather belt in view) but my sister and I knew not to push farther.

I tell my mom to shut up but it's mostly us just playing around. She never whooped me growing up but when her, my brother and I had to live with my aunt and uncle growing up, my uncle was abusive and would hit us for no reason when my mom was at work. We never said anything until we were older and we got our own house away from our aunt and uncle. But my mother never whooped us and I have nothing but respect for her. She honestly never harshly disciplined us at all. Whenever we did something bad she would just sit us down and explain what we did and why what we did was wrong. I'm 23 now, I joke around with her and tell her to shut up all the time. She also likes to incorporate herself into the stuff we like, like anime, certain music, movies, shows, etc. We also do the same with her hobbies. It really helps us bond and understand each other.

No idea why this would be a challenge, I guess because they don't KNOW what it's like to BE a dad and experience it, so they don't know the instant shock and raw anger that erupts from it.

Of course these reactions vary from household to household, though with children who have developmental disorders such as autism are punished a bit differently than a neurotypical child would. Since a normal punishment such as spanking or yelling because sometimes these outbursts of extreme emotion can be uncontrollable. Of course people with this disability deserve to know the constructs of social behavior and be punished, but punished in a way that works for them. Some punishments just...don't work and do more harm than good. Sadly autism goes under the radar in more mild cases and parents have no way of knowing what their child needs because it slips under the radar.

They'd do this as adults too- I told my mom "shut up" as a 30 yr old, & my dad ran at me trying to pull his belt out. I said "mind your own business" & he said "get out & never come back". Parents in the USA don't play, there is no disrespect tolerated and you will still get hit as an adult.

The famous quote "It's just a prank, bro!" came from a youtuber who would slap girls' butts in public and caught it on camera to record their reactions. Turns out, what he did is actually illegal and will get you beat up. This prank can also get someone beat up, simply in the name of a prank. It's not a good idea to do in a household with a father with a temper and a history of harsh discipline.

some dads' first reaction was violence and in my family where we get the belt for discipline, it's not that shocking. i like the dads' angry shouting response though, because (without instant violence) it immediately sends the message that such disrespect is not gonna be tolerated and there's a threat that there's gonna be a thrashing if they keep it up. on non-prank situations, with kids on the phase of acting out, a gentle molly-coddling response might send a message that both parents are weak pushovers that even if their child disrespects them or gets in trouble, a tender "talk" is all the punishment they're gonna get.

I'm in Texas, and that's NOPE. That is crossing a line here in America as well, boys. These kinds of things are NOT CHALLENGES. A "challenge" is running a marathon. A "challenge" is to get perfect grades in your classes. A "challenge" is to learn a new language and use it abroad really well. Something is NOT a "challenge" if the goal is simply to do something so completely stupid that it baffles all reasonable people.

This would have gotten me beat. My family doesn't care about "challenges" or "trends". I once asked my mom what she needed my car for and my dad came home with papers from a lawyer saying he would sue me for abusing her. When I was 6, I said a rhyme without my dad's permission and he used my head to break the ceiling. When I was 7, my dad used physics to optimize a paddle to maximum pain and tissue damage. On my 35th birthday, my fiance's family and my family went to a dinner to meet for the first time. I told my parents that my fiance's mom offered to pay all my school if I went into nursing. They were ashamed and told me I'll never be anything but a fry cook. I was raised in Florida.

I swear this is a funny memory for me:When I was 12, I desperately needed my mom to pay attention tome one day. She was on the phone and wouldn’t get off. (No matter how many times I yelled MOOOOMMMM!) So I yelled her Name instead. I didn’t even know my father was home. I thought he was at work. I swear he materialized out of thin air and yelled,”What did you just call your MOTHER?” And slapped me for the only time in my life. He passed away almost 15 years ago, and they had been divorced for 8 years by the time he passed. I’m 50 now, my mother is 77. I still get nervous introducing her to people by her first name. 😂 My parents were amazing, and if my father, even after they divorced, had ever heard me say something outright disrespectful to or about my mother he still would have ‘smacked me down’.
