P-51Bs, together with the later D, had wooden floors in the cockpit.Tamiya got it wrong in this kit. That is not to say that you haven't done a lovely job of this model. You have. It's a lovely rendition of possibly the most famous ETO P-51B, Don Gentile's 'Shangri-La'. The a/c sadly met an ignominious end though, after he crashed it doing a low level pass for the press whilst at Debden. Urban legend states the wreckage was bulldozed into a pit. Are the remains still extant? Hmmm....

@@alantoon5708 There are photos of the a/c crumpled with a broken back taken at Debden after the mishap. Gentile was immediately sent back to the US on a 'War Bonds' tour in order to save the AAF face.

Tamiya kits are indeed of the highest quality and often are the best. They are, however, only human and therefore susceptible to errors and mistakes. Learn to take a little criticism on the chin. It makes you a better person. Honest.

@@markfranks1329 This kits are a real good base for beginners or scratch building. Ang build them is so easy than you can focus on paint and weathering. So yes, they still are the best even if other brands provide more accurate kits.
