the expectations put on normani are funny bc she never gets the same grace her peers get and she still eats.

The last one she had more than 3 days to prepare and wasn’t called in at the last minute. She also didn’t have the help of VMAS production. They said they couldn’t do the lighting and sets the way she wanted. Which is why you saw a plastic see through chair and her team pulling her across the stage with a rope. No smoke or coming down from ceiling or set. Having said all that, Normani killed and was the best performance of the night. Boy in the middle lying, he was mesmerized the entire time. He even paused the video in the start to because he was shocked in how she started sliding. Then acted like his opinion was something else. He’ll say that it’s his opinion and we can’t tell him nothing.

She was last minute. The vocals were live. And the end with Teyana was a tribute to Janet Jackson.

She did that. She had one week to prepare. Ate! Had one of the best performances

Yes since she was in fifth harmony she has been hitting whistle notes for a while. Just look up Normani singing Mariah Carey songs.

This was her best performance because it showed she was able to control her vocal ability and dance at the same time. People thought she was lip singing but she wasn’t. Her mic had auto tune in it. Also she has the ability like Mariah Carey to have a high vocal range she does it all the time.

Also she didn’t replace lorde she was just one of the last performers to be announced. Her ,Alicia keys, swae lee, anitta ,and ed Sheehan we’re the last performers announced

Bankhead the choreographer for the performance and the music video posted on his Instagram that this performance, in particular, was a traumatic experience for everyone. They only had a week to Bring the vision for the live performance together and a few hours before she went on stage they had to alter and change the performance around. The white and red screen was not intended. A lot unfolded behind the scenes. The final product wasn’t supposed to turn out this way. Things had happened up to the performance.

I saw his ig, and they said that she was in floods of tears that day because everything wasn’t going to plan, particularly last minute. I hope she realised that despite all of that, she was the best performer on that night. I really enjoyed that and I can’t wait to hear more of her whistle notes when her album comes out

Normani is an amazing performer! She did that shit! One of the best VMA performances of all time. She’s definitely inspired by Aaliyah. Look up Aaliyah One In A Million Jay Leno performance and you will see where Normani got her inspo for this performance frome. IJS
