Not to give leeway with how cursed this game is in just about every way, but 20-round trench mags (grabenmagazin) were a thing for Mauser pattern rifles (specifically the Gewehr 98) in The Great War. They didn't put it on the correct rifle in this game (K98k v G98), but given that it's a real thing Germany did with that style of rifle, that's not as cursed as it may seem on the surface. There's also a Garand with a drum mag that still pings on empty despite the fact that the clip wouldn't be there if converted for use with a magazine. And the amount of optical sights is just shameful.

its amazing how dumping a ton of money into something doesnt actually make it good when the remainder of your budget is spent on dollar store writers. Conversely Brothers in Arms had pretty lackluster, even for the time, graphics but a really good writing team and it was immensely better and more historically correct

this mission was awesome, just wish things where more historically accurate that was the thing the bugged the sh*t out of me in this campaign because the visuals and sounds where incredible but the poor historical accuracy killed some of the immerision for me however this mission was still awesome. my great grandfathe was a british paratrooper in WW2. Was a POW in North Africa before escaping the camp and getting sent back to England and then being prepped for the d-day jump. He survived the war only to die to cancer in 98'. He also burnt his uniform after the war as his regiment was the british regiment that murdered innocent Irish Civilians in Belfast during bloody sunday ( Irish Catholic family)

that's a really interesting story and one i can relate to alot. My great grandfather was a career soldier for 20 years when the war broke out and was stationed as an noncommissioned officer in north africa for the brits. He had previously been in Afghanistan in the 30s and also india. But my family are also off irish catholics and still have family in Donegal to this day, so when all that happened in derry it really turned my family against the british army big time, and to this day it is a rule in my family to never join the british army due to their multiple massacres committed in northern ireland and all over the world.

I like how at the point where they take out the MG42 on the bridge the NPGs say "we made it!"...yeah, after Kingsley was shot like 50 times.

When that last WW2 campaign you've played were MOHAA and CoD 1. This hits different Bloody hell this is well orchestrated ! Besides the gun mags it was awesome !

The immersion on this mission was insane..

4:50-5:05 They took something that used to be a button press and turned it into a fifteen second cutscene.

How many times have we invaded Normandy by now? Game devs need to take a page from 'The last Tiger'. Nobody turned into a nazi after playing it and it was cool to actually see a snippet of the other sides perspective.

Would love a more historic accurate game where you jump out of a c47 with 101st or 82nd US Airborne. Likely band of brothers as a game. I know we have seen ww2 and normandy quit a lot in the past, but I can't get enough of it.

It truly amazes me how many k98k shots these guys can survive.

Of all the things I could mention, I'll keep it simple. The first troops to land on D day, were in a Horsa glider and had the element of surprise.. not a shot was fired until they attacked the guards of what has since been called 'Pegasus bridge' in honour of the British Airbourne.

As a German soldier defending the beach post, it was very accurate.

Looks like how i thought WW2 looked like when i was 5, also how theyre obviously going for at least surface level realism, but later in the game becomes the WW2 avengers

i like how when he got to the box of ammo, he said no to all the ammo but the single stripper clip worth (maybe 10 rounds) vs the 30ish or all the full boxes full of ammo

The animations are always similar, I don’t see any realism added to the animations of the game other than some reload animations. See Unrecord for example, it’s trillions of times more realistic than any COD game as was initially produced by only one guy. COD doesn’t innovate, it’s always the same thing.

It's a pretty game, I'll give it that. Could you imagine Call of Duty 1 and 2 remastered on this engine? One can only dream... I feel like they focused so much on the atmosphere and cinematics that it took away from the gameplay experience. It almost feels like you spend more time watching cutscenes than actually playing (Call of Duty WWII had that same problem as well). If you're going to do that, at least make the game true to history so that I can actually learn something, you know?

As historically inaccurate as this game is.. You can't deny that it's the most visually stunning CoD to ever release.

yeah i was done with this game when i saw them load a kar98k by pushing the entire stripper clip into the magazine. when you're buying a game for this much money you expect a certain level of quality, and when that quality is absent in the form of something the company got right for the past 20 years, there is a problem

I see this mission,and think of Brothers In Arms. Difference is Brothers in Arms is alot more accurate than it.

Idk why but I find this game fun. I’m not like those other nerds finding everything unrealistic

As a history nerd this game hurt me more than my dad.. the transition between the cinematic and the gameplay is incredibely smooth.
