@daviddauterman325 That's funny because I am pretty much on the exact same "side" as he is. I have learned plenty from him. He is a historian. He knows his stuff very well. He is also somewhat frustrated and bitter, which is understandable. Recently, he has started talking about things that he has no competence in. He is practically fear mongering: He says, for example, that the seventh of October showed Iran and Hizbollah that Israel can be defeated militarily. Also that Hizbollah has enough firing power to destroy Israel, even if Israel would nuke Iran. These two things are very much not correct at all. He is letting his emotions and unverified things that he thinks get into his judgment. I understand that you respect him, and he says many many good things that are correct. I am saying he is ruining his reputation when he says things that are almost comical or out of a cartoon or something. Stick with your field of expertise, Mr. Finkelstein, as I have heard, you say that you never say unverified things.

Does Finkelstein pretend that Iran has moral qualms, or that it needs a pre-text to carry out what they've promised to do? And why, then, would at matter at all what Israel does or doesn't do? The end result would be already determined.

America and Israel will always boast about their own power or successess to keep getting support or scare their enemies away, but that doesn't mean others are powerless. America carefully chooses its targets which can be defeated more easily, but avoids targets which can be very costly (as in "can lead to U.S. Army's defeat there"), and it fights proxy wars - the Arab World and Russia have been its primary targets. There are limits to how far people can let things go, regardless of the consequences.

As much as I love Finkelstein... He needs to carefully look at the IMEC (Indian Middle East Economic Corridor) and the Ben Gurion Canal (BGC) link, where USA, India, Saudi, UAE and Israel (and many others) are joint economic/geopolitical players, where massive infrastructure has ALREADY been built. They stand to make a beyond monumental economic windfall (for decades to come) after the Palestinians are removed from Gaza, so that the BGC can be built. The IMEC/BGC is a world trade and geopolitical game changer beyond gigantic proportions. It represents a devastating nuclear blow to BRICS... It explains why these countries do not aggressively support Palestinians in Gaza; why they don't take measures to prevent the genocide (which each could easily do); why they are all suddenly in favor of defunding UNWRA... Until you understand the true motivation of IMEC/BGC and the players implicated, which Finkelstein clearly doesn't, you'll remain in the dark.

@billyboy: The Ben Gurion or otherwise canal could be built with Palestinians living in Gaza, the West Bank, and or within all of Israel or Palestine. There is no plausible explanation for the occupation, and certainly not the genocide other than the "severe racism" preventing a one democratic state solution, or even a two state solution. The apartheid state of the new Israel is due to racism, not theology or religion which the Jewish would still have freedom to practice in a democratic state. If European Christians were there as opposed to Arabs when the European Jewelry arrived there would be no occupation, and definitely no genocide even if a group of militants from among the European Christians attacked the European Jewish settlers and 1200 were killed.

Remember the ICJ proceedings this week feb19-26…..incredibly important pro readings. The court is being asked for their opinion on the legal status of the occupation and I believe the countries supporting it. I think this is very significant. The documents submitted to the court are hundreds of thousands of pages of UN resolutions, reports, etc, outlining the breach of international law by Israel dating back to 1967. This hearing has been pending for years. This is very important. People need to remember to watch it. It won’t be discussed on mainstream just like they tried to divert attention from the South African case of genocide against Israel in jan this year.

It is a fact that without the unconditional support of the US to Israel in weapons and ammunitions supplies, in funds and in political and diplomatic support at international level, Israel would not have been so uncompromising and would have agreed to a complete ceasefire a long time ago. It is also a fact that USA will not withdraw its unconditional support to Israel despite both internal pressure from its own population through the numerous protests in all the major cities in USA and external pressure by almost all the other countries except for a few of its vassal countries and by Almost all international organisations. But the big question that everybody fails to ask is, why does USA unconditional support Israel, when such support is contrary to the will and wishes of practically all other countries and of a majority of the U.S. population? Moreover, this unconditional support seems counterproductive in the long run and is therefore totally irrational. It is counterproductive because in the long run, it is against the interest of both Israel and USA. No country, not even USA and its vassals together can win against a combined non-western countries which include China, Russia, the African countries, the South American countries, the Arab countries and the other Asian countries. We are no longer in a world where less than half a billion people in the western countries can counter six or seven billion people. So, whatever the force in the US that is making the US government acts irrationally in the case of Israel, this force must come to terms with the reality.

And always limited it’s scope eg 2014 Obama during the Gaza war stopped delivering hellfire missiles thus grounding Israel’s aphache helicopters 2021 Italian port workers prevented iron dome. No one in the muslim world has ever said that jews shoulden't exist but they are opposed of zionism which is an ideology and not an ethnicity. There are non jewish people in the west who are zionists for instance.

That Israeli officials are dying to attack Iran... Perhaps in their feverish minds they think that the next day the US would be flying planes over Iran. Perhaps it is their hubris. Just as once they suggested that the US come and administer Gaza after the war and help in the reconstruction of Gaza.

Israel can ask whatever it wants from USA and USA will do what Israel tells it to do, however outrageous that demand may be. Israel had even asked the states in USA to enact a law forbidding any U.S. citizen to boycott Israel or to openly criticize Israel and to have all public officer to sign a paper that forbids the said officer to do anything contrary to the wishes of Israel. No such law exists in USA about boycotting USA or criticizing USA and its government. The fact of the matter is that the people who own, dominate and control the government of USA, at both the federal and the states level, have very close connections with the people of Israel.
