Jaguar's Test Driver, Norman Dewis, talking about his 'Mad Dash to Geneva' in 1961, driving the first E-type Roadster 77 RW from Coventry, overnight, all the way to Geneva. Then spending the following day taking the Press and potential customers out for test drives. Taken from an interview recorded in 2015.

This makes me feel so nostalgic ,I was 8 when this was all going on makes me feel sad what an era , the e type struck my heart as soon as i see it lol nothing has changed I'm almost 70 now ,still get a proud feeling it was British

Great story! Google mapped Coventry to Geneva. 11hr 33min for the journey. That includes rail transport under the Channel, NOT the ferry which takes 4 hours. So he beat today's time by 33 minutes. I reckon you could comfortably take off another two to three hours off his time if that option was available!
