Excellent thanks for sharing. //About Waylon, I LOVE when my favorites (Norm as a joker) love my favorites (like Waylon). // Also love hearing Norm explain he is a non-religious theist, studying Tolstoy to develop his belated spiritual life. Beautiful he got a few years to do so 💗. Tolstoy’s Gospel (as Norm references) is posted on here in full, as is a summary, “What I Believe.”) // Love Norm’s take on sports-it has an objective score, not aesthetic judgments. His note on the haunting hockey buzzer is moving too, as is the positive take on the indifference of the ocean at shore. // Hate his childish take on Musk (granted, this is a decade old) : “Wow this silver spoon South African boy from a slavedriving family wants to go to Mars in a rocketship!” Frustrating Norm can’t see the dyslogic of his own statement-‘Musk is cool because he ignores the 99.99998% conclusive science on climate change (being dependent on industrial and military carbon emissions, oil spills, corrosive farming practices, strip-mining as Musk employs, &c.); instead he (superheroically) increases it with his rockets.’ This grandiosity is not utopianism, but the dangerous dilletantism of a Hearst-like tycoon (who also, you know, takes over towns like Ford, wages coups like Reagan, does amateur neuroscience on chimps, is openly a adolescent bigot online, collabs closely with the DoD and CIA in multiple projects, is (ad hominem) a divorced dork loser, &c.)

Did you? Theyr’re professional showbiz interviewers. For all the fake ”Thats awesome!” which theyve been trained to say, these guys were very human and conversational. Most people who interviewed norm for podcasts were hack comedians and dull, just as fucked up as most people are and not good at driving interviews forward or making the guest feel comfortable

The universe is actually 14 billion years old. The reason life seems to wants to propogate itself is that life which didn't, didn't, and therefore their genes were not propogated.

This sounds clever, but the logic you're offering amounts to: life propagates because life propagates. By some definitions, life which doesn't try to propagate isn't life. Nonetheless, it does little to address the philosophical motivations behind the question "why is there life?" From our rational understanding of the nature of the universe there seems to be little to no reason that life should exist, other than the fact that it does. The universe and the rules which govern it work equally well without it, although there might not be anyone there to ponder that fact.

If I know my Norm-think: White people are called "white" in the U.S., not European or Scandinavian Americans. So it sorta sounds condescending (in a pc way) when white people call black people "African Americans". I hope that's what he meant because I agree.
