Norfolk Southern 994 Northbound power move makes a pit-stop in Austell,Ga to get some burgers from the Burger King!!! Yep, watch and see!!!
As the crewman comes back and they proceed North, G5A sneaks by them on track 2! I have NEVER seen them do this before, so it was a treat!
Also they had a CSX engine on there as well, FIRST CSX I have EVER seen in Austell, especially since it's so close to the CSX line and the yards in Atlanta are both CSX and NS.
NB Power:
NS 9082 D9-40CW
NS 9002 D9-40CW
NS 2507 SD70 with wash job!
NS 9085 D9-40CW

My stepfather was an engineer on the Southern in Rome, GA. They would often stop below Troy's BBQ. Someone would have to scramble up a steep bank, but they would all have BBQ for lunch. Little things mean a lot on road crews.
The bathroom is on the loco right in front of the driver.
Who says train crews can't stop to get Lunch? This is such an Awesome crew!

Just because they stopped to get food they are awesome💀
I have seen something similar in Mentor, Ohio on the CSX mainline. There is a restaurant right next to the tracks, offering sit-down dining, outdoor dining in the summer, and a volleyball court. There used to be a signal right by this place, before CSX changed the signal blocks to make room for longer trains. I saw crew members climb down, go inside, and come out with styro-foam take out dinner packages, while the train was stopped for a block signal.

A new meaning of having it your way.
Love watching uploaded train videos. Wish I still lived near a railroad track that was active. I used to but it has been 20 years.
I've seen UP 844 do that in Central City, NE. She was on her way from Omaha back to Cheyenne and was scheduled for a refuel and water stop in Grand Island, but there was a Dairy Queen trackside in Central City, so they stopped and went to eat while the trucks drove 20 miles to refuel. It was pretty neat getting up close to the locomotive and talking with crew.
We have a line behind our McDonalds and Burger King restaurants here and I have seen several train men go in for lunch and dinner. Not often I might add.
CSX two track mainline runs right next to a restaurant in Mentor, Ohio. It is not a fast food place; ,it has seating and an outdoor volleyball court. Several years ago, there was a block signal (which has been moved to allow for longer trains) near the restaurant, and more than once I saw a crew member go inside, and come out with dinners all wrapped up in styro-foam "to-go" boxes, while they were waiting for a red signal to change to green.
Back when I lived in Wake Forest, NC, I saw CSX F711 stop at Shorty's Hot Dogs, which is right next to the track. And I remember seeing it stop a different time at Snoopy's in Raleigh.
I lived in a small town and the crew would stop next to my home place and walk up to the tavern for an evening meal!
That was so cool
Great video. Also Subbed. It turns out I am your "2014"th subscriber!

@GTRailroadVideos

Probably 20-30 mph
These engineers make a lot of money every year and they have all day long ride so they do a train pit stop for so good ol’ food on the trails.👍🏾
One time, up in Morristown,TN, I recall a train stopped next to a church, and one of the crew members stopped in at Krystal.
Some local train stations like Septa in NE Pennsylvania have a McDonald's nearby like the one in Suede Rd. and Main Street/Ridge Pike in Norristown, PA.
I didn't actually believe the video title until I saw the fast food bag in the engineer's hand. Nice catch!
Most all locomotives have bathrooms on them

I was thinking the same thing. What happens when you are out in the middle of no where with no bathrooms around? What do you do, Wait until you explode?

Yes I was watching a video it’s in the nose of this particular train
I like that shot at the end where you can see them racing beside each other. Nice catches!
Amazing catch, has anyone ever notice that some Norfolk Southern locomotives horns sound better than others?
@GTRailroadVideos

There are many different types of horns on the engines.
Yep that's a first for me in Austell too, they do it in Folkston all the time.
CSX is very common where I live the couple of days ago I saw my first Southern Pacific and this was in TENNESSEE for gosh sake
Great video Gene. Just had it pop up and this is absolutely hilarious. Ive met the conductor on a business trip with my engineer friend. He is out of Inman
LOL! Great catch Gene. I have only seen one CSX in Austell too and that had to have been a good 10 years ago lol.
BUGER KING: How can I help You today? ENGINEER:Yes...I would like four Norfolk Southern double woppers with extra cheese on it.
Horn Battle!!!!!
Nice video, Gene! Stopping at Caseys general store, Dollar General, Etc. is pretty common here. Especially when MOW's are out and about or a meet is going to take longer than expected. It's a good chance to go and talk to the crew as well! I remember when I drove one of my engineer friends to Dairy Queen while the conductor stayed on the train. It's awesome! Nice view of them racing at the end!!!!!!
I Like This One
Back in the day, when locals still used cabooses and railfans could hitch a ride, our local crew would stop at a restaurant by the tracks and eat lunch each day. Another time the conductor brought his fishing gear and had the engineer stop the train with the caboose on the trestle. He spent the next twenty minutes fishing.....didn't catch a thing.
Nice video! I took a trip to the UP of Michigan. When I was up there I saw a CN crew stop next to a carry-out to get ice cream.
They use to stop and come in B3 too 💗
Talk about an EPIC CATCH!
thats awsome man,nice catch
The birds are Killdeers. They have a habit of playing "wounded bird" when close to the nest.

SMOBY44 ???? What are you even talking about?
Very nice catch
I grew up in Downtown Marietta and you're right Thornton, tons and tons of trains.
LOL That is awsome man!!!!
Lol. EPIC. It's train crews like this that make railfanning fun. Also, epic lol @ "When the king calls, you got to go." Good one, Gene. We have some crews like this around, but not alot.
Thank you! I know you mean it too. But I always remember Captain Picard said one time 'wishing for a thing, does not make it so'...
It's only NS here? you get the amtrak and not CSX but we dont have amtrak and have CSX lol theres always a catch lol great vid!!!!!!!!!!!!
@DJGENEX71 Thanks!!!!!!!! I do really wish that this line up here ran Amtrak on it,it would be alot better, except it is a pretty short line from Newark, NJ, to Allentown, PA.
Here in our little town, the train actually stops at Dominos Pizza quite often.
I saw another crew do this again just the other day...11 engine power move that day...Thank you for the comment also!
Instant classic.
Sorry dispatch, got a small problem. Need to stop for a moment.😊😊😊
I imagine it went something like this.."Hey, Frank man, you hungry?" "Yep George, I am..what do we do? "Well, about a mile up here in Austell is Burger King..I need a Whopper..and some nuggets and a Coke..we need to stop, I'll run over and get it. Don't tell dispatch."
I recently saw the third unit NS SD70 #2507 pass through my town in Rutherford, N.J. There's a burger king a few hundred feet from the tracks, but they didn't stop for lunch.
This would be me if worked for the railroad
Ok this was really funny 😅😅😅 and is CSX rare in your area?
@GhostFearMe Thanks! hey I was the first time I'd seen any CSX power on a NS train out here in Austell in my life.
where is that in Austell ? this is soo cool.
nice catch, railroader do have to eat occasionally LOL
Thanks my friend! That was Tommy's mother, we weren't married, and no matter how sweet or nice I was to her she still accused me of cheating on her when I was out here recording trains...even with my video proof.
@pwalpar This is true, and what better when you're hungry than a double cheese or whopper from BK!
@FutureBNSFEngineer Thanks! I wanted him to bring me one back too!
I saw the crew of NS P59 do this in Sylva N.C.. Engineer got off and ran into downtown. Also saw the conductor get off one time and go into the local pub. He just left with a stack of papers though.
I've seen eastbound NS coal drags (all with BNSF power) that're waiting in the hole at the NS Elko siding in Huntsville, AL send the conductor out across the main, past the Dollar General store, and across the adjacent 4-lane street to the Subway Store in a strip mall. Makes sense to me. ;-)
there are some times when my dad and i go to missouri to get cheap gas[i live in iowa] and i get to see a stopped coal train on the bnsf track by the gas station. anyway, nice catch.
@NJCoastExp There was 2 of them, one actually did the Killdeer bird dance to scare of predators, right in front of the engine!
(From Lethal Weapon 2) "Don't ever go up to the drive through! Why? 'Cause they know you're gonna be miles away,,,THEYYYYY **** YOU AT THE DRIVE THRU!"
cool video and that is funny
Burger king: drive thru and drive by open
@lespaulguy32 In Austell yes, totally NS. There are CSX tracks around Atlanta but not within 10+ miles of here, they're usually totally separated for the most part in this area. I/e not likely to see NS power on a CSX train, same with CSX on a NS train. It happens from time to time but it's pretty rare in Austell.
the guy had the runs haha-- at Ridgefield Park, NJ CP5 the NYS&W crew went to get pizza right across the tracks lol i believe they ordered it ahead of time cuz he ran in and out while the loco was moving lol - they should make a drive-in for locomotives lol train race and CSX lol nice!!
@CQDX018 Thanks my friend! Yea sometimes they'll stop in Mableton and go over to the KFC as well, but this was the first time I've seen them go to the BK and stop right in the middle of the E/W line! They were cool guys, I asked them when they came by where was my burger! LOL!
I see a train raced him as he departs to get on the move agin
How times have changed...when this line was Southern Ry, before the NS merger, these would be high-hood Southern units. G5A's horn sounds like a Nathan P5, very much in the old Southern style since that's the horn Southern used on their locos up until the merger with N&W.
When the king is calling you gotta go
Lol should be a BK commercial!
@gordondavis4 There wasn't any chatter. Just 'G5A clear signal Austell' and same with the power move, they called clear signal then stopped at BK! LOL.
I think he did a great thing by pulling up at Burger King for some lunch 😊👍
That was sweet how you were talking to your wife on your cell phone Gene, especially when you told her you'd be home shortly honey, I thought that was so cool. :)
brave bird
@GenesisSanctuary Ha Ha! Especially when they got the grill running and the smell is coming across the street!!
I know, it was odd to see it on a NS train. I use to work right over on Atlanta Rd. NS is way better than CSX, a LOT nicer crews and better equipment.
Are you sure this should be on KZread? Is that crewmember breaking any rules?
@guitars14 Thanks Kyle! How'd you like the crewman going to Burger King? LOL!
@pele6922 Yea I was talking on the phone to Renee at the time.
@gordondavis4 They did that again on Saturday...same train too! 994
CSX does this all the time at Folkston. They stop and make a break for McDonalds. LOL
He had the munchies lol.
Even trainmen gotta eat . =)
@FireCaptE9 LOL! It's true!
yeha can i have a whopper with chesse french fries and a drink 2 go i got to get back to my train lol lol
@Boots1282 Ha Ha! True true! NS forgot to install the drive thru track!!!
how funny
were they here to get some BURGERKING?
Something different Make another one please !
Okay let's add the bill up now,......3, or 4,5, locos? Idle time,? Oh I don't know, let's say.......hmmm, 10-15 minutes? That's $3,000 for each burger, oh and I forgot the fries! Make that an even $4,000. AHHH AND YO JAHHHB!!!!!

If you want to see alot I mean alot of csx visit Smyrna GA about 15-20 minutes away
@gordondavis4 That would have been better food, but not as fast as they needed it! LOL!
he had the muchies lol.
@benschlechter LOL! A lot of the time they go to KFC in Mableton if they stop there too!
I wish you could convince her that you weren't cheating on her while you are out recording trains, I wish you could convince her to believe you my friend. :)
@admydragon He wasn't breaking any rules.
@gordondavis4 See great minds do think alike, I almost said that in the previous comment! LOL!

@gordondavis4 Yea but it's not 'fast' food. He had to grab it and go! LOL!
hey i'll trade AC44's for GP38-2's or C40-9W's any day of the week, I work right beside CSX's Kanawha sub and I'm serious all I see is either AC44's or ES44AC's.
Lol America in a nutshell
