Merry Christmas!
Now this might not be the coolest, most entertaining truck on the road to most people, but I was beyond thrilled to see this truck again. In 2019 I heard there was a company up north that bought a few trucks from Tennis, including my childhood garbage truck. After a while of searching I finally found Nordstrom’s Sanitation, a small 3rd generation hauler in Moose Lake. When I saw they posted a picture of my old truck 44 I couldn’t believe it. I reached out to them and the owner, Lance, sent me a bunch of pictures of trucks and invited me to check out their yard. I knew I had to go back again to get some video of their amazing fleet but just couldn’t find a time.
Fast forward a couple years, I went back up there again on a Friday to film. Unfortunately they weren’t using the truck I was looking for but this truck was enough to make it worth the trip. Originally truck number 5 from Tennis, now 55 for Nordstrom. Although this Lodal wasn’t my regular recycling truck, it’s nearly identical to the Tennis Lodals I watched as a kid. I remember it doing my route multiple times throughout the years as a spare, then eventually a regular truck for a short period in 2018 just before my HOA got recycling carts. Also cool to see this truck in original Tennis colors before it gets painted like the rest of them.
It’s really cool to see this and many other Tennis trucks get a second life up north. Especially since Lance has kept the skunk and numbers on the ones he’s painted orange and blue. This definitely won’t be the last time I film Nordstrom’s, be on the lookout for more.
