woody I thinking of good stage piano/organ, not to expensive. maybe on the lines of the 970 yamaha, with great backing in support ? what would lean toward (and won't break the bank!) thanks John (uk)

Nice presentation Woody. Do you think that on the Nord piano 3 one is able to reproduce most of the sounds that are available in the nord stage 2 ex? For instance, the organ and string sections, are there going to be the same? If I decide to get a Nord piano 3 instead of a Nord stage 2 ex, am I going to regret my choice? Considering that the nord stage 2 ex is considered the flagship, which the Nord piano 3 is not. Thanks for your advice

+profilo vecchio hi! the Nord Piano doesn't have the B3 organ at all, and not a decent synth section either, it only plays back samples. I like the "less is more" approach, so the Nord Piano does appeal to me, but it's a shame that it doesn't have the pitch stick and mod wheel, so it's not very useful as a controller for your PC or other synth modules. for that reason I think the stage is more versatlie and probably my choice.

just subscribed yesterday, and im torn between the new cp88 and the stage 2, i know the stage 2 has a synth and that seems most important to me for more original sounds paired with y other gear. but whats most important to me is the rhodes sounds. hows the rhodes in the stage 2 to the cp88?

both boards have fantastic rhodes, the CP has the nicer action and arguably better acoustics, but the stage covers your synth and organ needs

do you recommend these as a synth? i'm venturing into the synth platforms from guitar... And want just an all around versatile synth that I could make good music on, kind of new wave sounding maybe. But this is more advertised as a digital piano... or is it also in the class of good synths?

it's a very expensive option if you just want to play around with synth sounds. you're paying for the digital piano and hammond organ engine, plus other stuff you might not need. check out microkorg, roland jd-xi or any used synth. cheers!

Oh I deffs want it to use as a digital piano and organ as well! I just want to know if its synth sounds are even worth looking at it as a synthesizer as well? Or if I should just take it for what it is (a digital piano) and snag a 'real' synth for the synth sounds..

Well Niall, the synth engine in the new Nord Stage 3 is supposed to have most of the functions of their A1 synth, as well as some additional ones, and has a decent sized screen all to itself. Also of note is that their sample library (not the piano library) is part of the synth engine, expanding greatly the kind of sounds you can make. You're not going to get an easier to use and better sounding synth on a stage piano. Give the Nord Stage 2 manual a read (the Stage 3 manual isn't out yet), it's a quick and easy read and explains things well.

you don't say what the amp will be used for. for home use a PC speaker system might be good enough. check my channel, I have some reviews.
