You could inspect your reefer's cooling unit/burner area three times every day, and STILL fail to catch a cooling unit leak before it gets bad. By the time you see yellow residue, 99% of the time it's all over ! Both Norcold and Dometic have recall info on their websites. THAT is what an owner should be checking regularly....websites for recall information. Operating the refer level is the second thing an owner can do to prevent fire hazard due to cooling unit failure. They are much less likely to burn through and lose refrigerant when operated level. I am surprised someone in the fire protection biz did not address this issue, the most common cause of cooling unit burn through..

The fire is real I know just two months ago it happened to me and insurance company doesn't want to give me all the money needed to make repairs. Why have insurance and pay out deduction fee if we can't get back to what it was like before made whole?

Norcold 'recall' worked for three trips over a two year period. Circuit power would not start after three month storage until I disconnected the recall box and restored the 12 V back to original control logic board. Red LED would come on after 15 seconds, shutting down the 12 V circuit. Brown sheath wire containing the sensor red/yel to the heat chamber, has 5 ohms and Reverse polarity of 10 ohms. What resistance is correct when new? Should the brown sensor wire be free to pull up, out from under the heat chamber insulation, for examining? Is the sensor replaceable? No schematics available?

Seems as if Norcold and Dometic refrigerators since 1995 have been made with inferior boilers that crack do to heat stress fracturing! I'd love to know if they switched from USA made to Chinese or something. They have not fixed the problem just covered it up. Strangely the replacement cooling units made by the Amish don't seem to be affected! Better made?

I have not heard bad things about Norcold but I also don't have any personal experience with them so I can't say. However in my CamperVan I have a Dometic and the thing works flawlessly even though its super old haha. Thanks for the info!
