Last time our army did any heroic deeds in 1965 war. I remember the situation in Lahore at that time. My late husband served as a government officer and we volunteered like many other citizens to help in civil defence side. The officers of that time were true officers and gentlemen and trained in the pre-1947 British Indian Army. Alas by 1966-67 most of these officers retired after that all kinds of unsavory characters and people of no breeding or decent background, they were taken into the forces at all levels. Resulting in the disasters of 1971 and after, until the present pathetic condition.

During 1965 War troops were deployed both sides Itchogil canal,While this song was listened on Radio by both sides and each one claimed that Madam sung thi song for them.This is almost a forgotten story only some of them who were deployed there and might have alive.However no comparison of Mam Nur Zahan Punjabi song during those days of Sep 1965 War times

It was the 1965 Pak-India war but it was just a morale booster as far as I know

Zeenat betay, this was a song originally written by poet Sufi Tabassum as a morale booster song for Pakistani military during the 1965 Pak-Indo war. It was not concerned with any one individual soldier but the general "esprit de corps" . It became immensely popular in the country and was lso included in a Pakistani movie at that time with some actual war footage I think.
