We are in front of quarters of Tarrytown Fire Department at 50 Main Street, where we see and hear the fire whistle as it gets tested at noon. The whistle originally came from a factory down by the Hudson River waterfront in town and originally ran on steam. It now runs on air and is controlled by the police department down the hill at Village Hall. This is the only place I know of where the fire whistle is actually a whistle, as opposed to a horn or siren. I am not sure who made the whistle. Enjoy the sound of it as it goes off.
