I’m excited to get another Nook! I haven’t had one since I was younger since I was completely out of the loop of it still being created. I love how thorough this review was.

That's just a limitation of the display technology eReaders use, you can research into it.

i wish you can read and listen at the same time like with kindle

having trouble deciding between this and the 4 (not plus). While this seems a little big as you say, the 4 seems a little small. thoughts?

Can you side load your own items?

Pretty frustrated that it’s so slow. Hope that means it can have a long battery life?

Is there a way to listen to an audiobook while simultaneously reading the text? (Similar to Immersive Reading on the Kindle Fire). Helps tremendously with my focus, comprehension, and retention.

Hopefully they come out with an origami style stand cover for this. I get one for all my ereaders what’s possible. Lets me read during lunch at work so I don’t have to hold my device.

I'd love to have this but why do B&N have to be so stingy with their storage/memory capacity

Not trying to argue but what do you use yours for? I have a 32gb Oasis and I rarely have 8gb full and it is loaded with more books than I'll ever get around to reading. Same goes for my Kobo Aura One, it has 8gb built in, with 134 downloaded books it is only using about 600mb, pocket articles are using 400mb and imported epubs are 200mb

Can you play the audiobook while also reading the book or is it just one sided exclusively?

Can you read along with the Audiobook? Because I don't think Amazon lets you do that. If the Nook 4 lets me "read along" with The Screwtape Letters (John Cleese version), I'm all in. =].

Can you use apple ear pods?

Does it support 3rd party app installation?

If the paperwhite add page turn buttons

Can you read Manga on it?

What about Manga?

Can you set a password on the device so if someone picks it up they can't just access all your content and buy stuff? With my kobo and kindles i can set a passcode you have to enter before you can use the devices.

As of now no unfortunately but I believe you can set it up to put in your B&N password for a payment each time.

@mav48185 yeah that sucks and im out on buying it then. I carry an e-reader almost everywhere i go and i need a passcode in case it gets lost. Seems such a basic easy fix that they didnt include even on the newest nook a couple months back. Thanks for the info!

The no sd card is the deal breaker for me, just like all Nooks since they stopped making them available. The availability of audio books just makes the memory issues worse. Glad I bought a couple of older Nooks as spares a couple of years ago, in case the one I use goes bad. I keep my full epub library on sd, and that takes up most of my 32 GB card, and even with side loading available, I know from experience that B&N will only allow a fraction of the on board memory to be able for use.

Serious question: What is the exact screen size? The actual display size without the bezel included. BN's website shows the measurement of the entire device as 7.8" in their image, and say the screen is also 7.8", which doesn't sound accurate. Seems like they are including the bezel as the screen, when I would like to know its actual view size. Seems like Kindle's Paperwhite Signature edition has the same screen size to me. I will admit I'm tempted to try this one out, but I dunno. I'm fully in the Amazon ecosystem and despite the nice page turn buttons and audio jack...its hard to switch, but that Screen being larger (I hope) could sway me.

7.8 is the screen size. They do a comparison with the Paperwhite. Its screen is definitely 1" bigger than the Paperwhite 5. I think I saw you ask the same question in another video... 😂

Hi yeah, I asked in amny places, Good Ereader was one of them for sure. The thing is the BN website uses their graphics wrong on the comparison pics they have with the Kindle. The "--" markers go from end to end of the device, and well I wanted to know if those measurements meant the screen size with or without the bezel. I did finally get to see someone put them side to side physically to see that yes its actually a inch bigger. But yeah thank you for the reply. Unfortunately I did not get the new BNM ereader..bigger but still lacking sadly.@@Anth230

I’ll be skipping this generation of nook. Gonna wait till they add a bit more oomph under the hood. Way too slow and laggy for my taste.

Audiobooks on an ereader is useless. Virtually everyone has a smartphone nowadays, which means they can just listen to audiobooks on there. Ereaders are getting heavier because manufacturers are putting more garbage like Bluetooth in them.

Complete piece of garbage. Keep in mind Nook vs Kindle is like the old days of VHS vs. Beta. the nook is a Beta meaning your library will have many more books in Kindle format and the process of downloading for Nook is a nightmare. I constantly download and show it as copied them spend hours trying to get it to show up. This one is going in the garbage. Totally my fault was a impulse buy I didn't do my homework and research anything on it.
