Some advice, unstrap the transom straps after you put the plug in. Keep the Routine you'll never forget. Stay calm at the Ramp. Especially on the Pull-up.

Lou, Great info, never look at it as a fail it's only a mistake. Hopefully we will never make the same mistake more than once and we learn from them. The most important thing is not making mistake that ham someone or ourself all other we can laugh about and keep it moving, be safe Bro.

Ive done all of these more times than i can count on both hands and feet! glad we can all relate, now i dont feel like such a dimwit. When i bought my second boat i didnt have the right hitch size for the drive home and she popped off doing about 55mph down the turnpike, thankfully i had a buddy with to help me lift it back up. last but not least i couldnt figure out why i had no spark coming from the plugs so i took the flywheel off to check the wiring for the stator but i wrecked it in the process. A new one cost me 150 bucks and a day later i come to find the safety shutoff chord was unplugged! Good laughs is the second best part of owning a bass boat in my opinion

Hey, we've all done it at one time or another and you're absolutely correct! we have our routine and we get distracted and miss something. The worst i've seen is someone trying to power load and the water level was lower... what happened... their nice new prop didn't look so great after a few times hitting the concrete!

Man this video hits home on so many issues lol. My dad and I went fishing one morning and I have a process I do before launch. Well he's talking to me and telling me to do this and that which threw me off my routine. He goes to park the truck and trailer and I take the boat for a run just to make sure all is good. Well I head back to the ramp to get him and notice a lot of water in the boat. Well you guessed it I forgot the plug and we had to back the trailer back down load it up and bilge and drain the boat which of course blew some of our best times for fishing. Everyone has issues and I've been boating for about 20 years now. I've learned a lot of the things you don't do. LOL Keep it up and enjoy

I have just started checking out your channel, but i already believe you are the kind of person who will move up the standings faster than the next guy. Fish the methods you are most comfortable and have most sucess with. Relax and dont get caught up chasing baits to use. All the best and i will be following your progress.

This past year was my first year ever owning a bass boat as well. Bought my VT 17 Crestliner in June 2017. Here are my 3 biggest "learning" issues... Trip 1, Couldn't get motor to start, then realized after a half hour of WTF's, I didn't have the kill switch lanyard plugged in. Trip 2, had a great day, went to load up the boat, but had trailer backed in too deep. Didn't know, and was frustrated why I couldn't get the nose up on the post. Trip 3, Forgot to trim the motor up pulling out of the water and away from the launch ramp at the end of the day. A guy chased me down and pointed out how my skeg was dragging. Can't wait for some pre-spawn action!

Thanks for sharing. Ive got several doozies, I guess the classic of all time is not putting the plug in Striper fishing Clarks Hill at night. Crossing the Dam, fish were busting herring all over the place. Launched, hauled ass to the dam and on the third fish stepped of the front deck into three inches of water. Hit the bilge and drove slowly to siphon water back out enough to get back to shore. It was only 130 feet deep and that was the third time I did it. Guess everything is best done in three's.

Props to you for standing up & owning your " Learning Experiences". So many peeps are TOO GOOD to admit mistakes. I have no shame, and all about accountability. If we live through these shining moments, we can usually laugh about it later. I'm not a bass flogger, I classify myself as more of a passive fisherman. Occasionally I will work trees & structure for crappie. For the most part, I tie up & minnow fish and/or catfish. I've had my share of MOMENTS. The lady that fishes with me often can testify to some of the experiences as well. Things can happen quickly, the best we can do is----the best we can do. I'm HUGE on courtesy at the ramp. Other guys....not so much. Experienced an episode of RAMP RAGE just the other night. Certainly not proud of it, but I had a genuine meltdown on a fashion statement with cap on backwards about previously mentioned COURTESY. I'll bet you 4 dozen minnows that he didn't learn a damn thing. Be safe brutha.

I always forget something when other people are “trying” to help. I just ask them politely to worry about their stuff and I’ll take care of mine. I am very particular on how I pre-check for launch and also when we get back to the fish camp. I start inside the boat first making sure everything is turned on and stored. Then work the outside. The load up! Maybe takes a few more minutes...but it’s worth it. Wreck Em Tech!

I forgot to unhook my cord to the battery charger and had it hooked into the cleat on the boat and drug the cord 3 miles down the road to the pond I was fishing. When i got the the lake I found the charger hooked up but no power cord, so i figured it pulled apart at home. I fish for about 4 hours load the boat up and driving out the primitive road that goes down to the lake I find my 100 ft power cord in the road. It has a little road rash, but still in good shape and I still use it. lol

Yup. Done most of these things. The trolling motor down is the worst when you get going. At least on my boat, once you hit a certain speed, a ridiculous amount of spray comes over the bow. Funny on a warm day, not so funny when it's cold and windy. Haha. I've also driven away with the electrical cord still attached. Twice! Have you pulled the boat out of the water before turning the motor off? I've done that a few times. =(

the absolute worst for me? first time putting in my new rig, FIRST TIME camping/fishing Possum Kingdom. that evening was perfect for a night of topwater. absolutely destroyed them for HOURS! (one of THOSE kind of nights) fish turned off late, maybe 1:am, time to go back to the campsite. we had gone SO far and we were lost on a moonless night. no compass/lake map, (everything new) BUT, i had my flood light. ok, no problem? BIG PROBLEM! that lake is so big, and so many little twists and curves, it took us till first light to finally find our wives and trucks!? so damn tired and pissed, we ate breakfast and of course went right back out. that next night i slept like a caveman.

Well thank you first of all....alao i just got my first boat a few months ago. Its an older boat around 1980. I forget to pick up the damn anchor from time to time. But one thing I've realized is that at least im starting out with a boat that cost me a couple hundred dollars i stead of a new one. Thanks for the info

I’ve made the mistake of taking off with the trolling motor down too. Broke my shaft in half. But I think one of my most embarrassing mistakes was getting up from my seat with my pfd and safety lanyard still on, backed up my truck, went back in the boat and I couldn’t get the boat started. After about a good 5 minutes, I finally realized that the annoying string that kept getting tangled around my arm was my safety lanyard for my kill Switch.

Lol first time out we tried starting the boat for a good 10 min. Checking the gas air valve pumped the primer looked at the gey start wiring etc it was a brand new 2017 murcery 40. In a brand new boat!! We were like omg wtf is it us? Or is there something wrong with the boat! Then realized, we had it in drive not neutral. And it was a fairly quite busy early summer afternoon.. uuugh the thought of it

I did the opposite. I drove to my first spot, put it in neutral, was excited to catch 'em, jumped up to get to the deck and the cord was in just the right position that it tripped me and I fell face first onto the step to the front deck.

Have owned a boat for years, but got a brand new Skeeter ZX200 a little over a month ago. Have done all of those with the exception of the jack. My trailer pin was not only out but I forgot to drop the latch down (because I was talking) and drove 15 miles before my friend told me. The other thing I did was on day one of breaking in the boat was I took my rear seat out of the seat hole and placed it on the back deck to do something in the live well. Forgot it was there. Broke it in for the first two hours then got to drive it fast for a little and when I got back noticed that I was missing a seat. Yep, that was $350.00 on the first day. With my old boat, I had a process that I went through. This new boat is much bigger and has more things to do so it is just a matter of getting that routine down. In a month I have lost a seat, towel, hat, 2 fishing poles and gopro equipment all because my old boat went no more than 40. Had to learn the hard way. Pay the dues to get a lot faster! haha. Great video.

I towed my boat trailer to my buddies house for storage and could get over to the far right line and the stop light. Tried turning in the far left lane and watched the trailer hit the curb and go up in the air. Also towing down really bumpy roads in the city. Trailer went airborne yet again. 🤣😂 years ago I launched the jon boat I used to have, undid the straps and as I was backing down the ramp I hit the brakes cuz I wasnt lined up good and the boat slid off the trailer. I've also launched without the drain plug too with my best friend smh lol

Early morning drive from SW Houston to Matagorda Bay by myself. Launched boat, tied to dock, bought bait, took off for honey hole. About 10:30 was run off the bay by a storm. That’s when I remembered leaving the truck and trailer in the water with the motor running. DOH! (I’m not a morning person)(my initials are DF)

Yeah I did all those things. Worst was when I didn’t secure my transom saver properly and hit a bump when going over a bridge and my motor fell down, couldn’t pull over, no emergency lane and was on a parkway so couldn’t stop. Probably ground 3 inches off my skeg. Good thing is my motor don’t rub when I forget to trim it up when pulling out of the lake.

We all have been there the busy boat ramps are the worst. Your right take your time make sure the boat is ready to launch the people waiting didn't pay for your boat it could be a Z18 nitro or a Bass tracker don't matter your hard earned money is not going to have some stupid thing happen because people are waiting. That's life but with practice and a few times you will be good to go on launch and load . I had a buddy make me a sticker I put on my inner console that say " make sure the plug is in don't be dumb " . Do you think you could do a video on Transducer location and running more then one unite with multiple transducers. I know run one unite at a time but having 3 transducers and a custom transom saver board how far what is the proper spacing and the 3rd one is on the trolling motor . I want the best readings I can get seeing the money I paid for the units . Thanks keep on grinding
