The music in the fight is really top notch. Really conveys the struggle of Superman fighting Zod, but also the tragedy of him basically fighting against the last of his people.

Mikeman Jordan Superman and Zod aren’t invincible. They’re invulnerable to most forms of attacks. Kryptonite and magic weakens them to the point they can die. They can be killed by physical attacks too. They just have to be powerful enough to do it. Superman has died by getting his ass kicked numerous times

The fact they made this movie and reduced to move forward with another project with Cavill made me realize there's something sketch about DC releasing anything other than batman. Almost like some dynamic is ALWAYS screwing over project.🤷🏾‍♂️

Arguably the most underrated Superhero Movie of our generation. I grew up watching and enjoying the Reeves Superman but Cavill's iteration is up there in greatness as well. I'm disappointed that there isn't a Man of Steel 2 because I would liked to have seen which direction this Superman would've taken with the proper writting and direction.

I don't get people complaining about the death toll of this movie and fight scene, anything with two super powered individuals to the level that Kryptonians are is going to be catastrophic and this truly does show what a fight between two Kryptonians would look like, hell even two Amazons would be as destructive as this

Plus, Zimmer's music conveys danger, desperation, and tragedy. The viewer is excited and emotionally invested in this scene, but there's no fist-pumping to be had, and thus, no revelry in destruction.

Man, I must be getting old, because concerning myself with how much damage is being done to the city, and how much it'll cost is taking me out of the fantasy.

That's exactly what happened to me when I watched spiderman into the spider verse. Scorpion was chasing Gwen stacy across the rooftops, smashing house tiles and the only thing I could think about was the poor people who had to replace their roofs.

He learns martial arts as he gets older. In comics he knows Kryptonian martial arts and other forms of fighting that he learned from batman and Wonder Woman. He primarily trained with Mongul Jr and he also done some boxing training with wildcat.

To this day, the best fight in a comic book film. This movie has some of the best action sequences in any film actually. Only Snyder himself could top it. I also love that it's great action paired with great characterizations, drama and depth. MoS is underrated for sure.

Movies have declined since COVID hit somewhat

I came here after Shazam and Wonder Woman 84's final battles just to remember what a real DC fight is. So freaking good.

Superman vs Zod: the light side vs the dark side of Krypton, democracy vs dictatorship, freedom vs tyranny, salvation vs destruction, humility vs self entitlement, tolerance vs fanaticism. Both men are essentially mirrors of each other: Both are Kryptonians, but where Superman perfectly synergies the best aspects of Earth and Krypton, Zod waxes nostalgia over Krypton's more militaristic, violent and competitive past. Superman was born naturally and eventually evolved into a protector, while Zod was genetically engineered and being a soldier at heart, sees no need to empathize with and help the weak. Both call upon their heritage, but where Superman uses it to protect and help others, Zod uses it as his right to rule them with an iron fist. In short, Zod is a much more arrogant and self entitled Superman and is what the latter could have become if he gives into self righteousness.

I am a Marvel fan but this was the best movie I watched after ZSJL for DC universe. Kudos to Zack !

This fight scene is way better than any superhero movie fight scene period. Better than Endgame's finale. Very accurate, no unnecessary quipping to kill the seriousness of the fight, hard hitting, beautiful soundtrack

Imagine feeling out of place since you had consciousness, then finding someone who is so much alike you after years, then you have to kill him

this goes to show he was holding back the entire time. Superman wanted to subdue him, but he had to go there and boom, he dead.

Superman has to hold back his entire life.. Otherwise he cannot be Clark Kent anymore.. Using only "human" strength.. Focusing on not using his heat vision.. And so on.. If Superman does not really hold back.. He is unstoppable

Mark my words guys and gals, this film will one day get its due. One day it will be seen for the amazing piece of work it is. Clark has never had a fight in his life... He would definitely move the fight out of the city in the future. It is such a bloody shame Henry has been fucked over royally by WB... What a cast... From GORGEOUS Diane Lane to the Becca reading Michael Shannon to, and i mean this, the best Superman/Clark/Kal(yes they are three different roles) actor ever in Henry Cavill... This was such a fantastic movie it will one day get its day in the sun

Any action sequence with two Kryptonians fighting is going to be this destructive and on such a large scale. Unless you're a twee nostalgia hound hoping that it's going to be a polite 'pistols at dawn' affair. Some of the best and most believable action in cbms considering the power levels of the combatants.

Um... but he could at least show some concern about it, like how Ironman cared when fighting against Hulk. He could at least try to take the fight to somewhere empty (like Goku would) (not saying he has to successfully do that, just try), or take a few hits to safe some people (since nothing on Earth even scratches him apparently), like that gas truck for example. But nope, let's just punch and throw stuff at each other, don't mind the people you're trying to protect in the first place. I mean seriously, for the whole movie, he never even looked at the civilians unless it's some soldier men or when it's convenient.

This was a real superhuman fight like Dragon Ball if u watched it before zod fight isnt even a combat hand to hand they use super-supernatural powers we cant expect they will do dodges or something cool like in the WS fight. Like we cant compare which fight is better 2 heavyweight boxers or 2 kung fu masters or 2 wrestlers idk U may say then why did i said that this is better than any other marvel movie fight right? I said cause its hard ya know that CGI in 2013 bruh outclasses the first avengers movie tops every other superhero movies in that years i cant still see any fight made harder and looked better than that Thor vs Hulk was garbage

@@mikeamber2528 Let's say , consider game or anime action scenes , why do you think those movies are a flop when live action , main reason is fighting scenes aren't realistic . Warner bros has experience with heavy cgi action . Disney can never do this especially when they are not well experienced in this field. Edit : Detective Pikachu , though not that great but still entertaining to watch , cgi scenes are very thrilling in it . If an dbz movie is going to come out , the production company has to be the best cgi action scenes producing type.

I love the argument that you see a lot 'Why doesn't he take the fight away from the city'. What's to stop Zod from just flying right back to Metropolis and killing more civilians? This is Clark's first actual fight with people as strong as he is too which is something people don't really take into consideration.

His ultimate goal was to ensure the continuation of his species, and to do so he had to wipe out the inhabitants of earth, but superman made that impossible when he destroyed the world engine Before they clash Zod explicitly says"I will make them suffer" Superman took away his purpose for living. Zod says as much and now wants to take something from suparman. So that is very much hurting him emotionaly. Later he says:" There is only one way this ends Kal, either you die, or I do." Hurting him physically. And please elaborate why you think what I just said is false because this is very much what the final fight conveyed.

In life and death situation. the brain just stop working.Some people get stunned when they see death infront of their eyes because they are not ready.

One thing that really stood out is that Superman needed to end the fight as soon as possible. The only thing Superman had over Zod was more experience with his powers, and intially, the advantage of flight. Zod was clearly a quick learner and got the hang of heat vision and flight rapidly. If he had time to master all his powers he would be outmatched by Zod.

God this movie is so amazing!!

yeah probably. MCU Thanos with no gauntlet is still pretty strong, stronger than Hulk, but he wouldn’t be able to keep up with Superman’s speed or be able to defend himself/counter Superman’s heat vision. So id say Superman wins relatively fast. But if we’re talking about comic book versions, than this fight is a looooot closer. Comic book Thanos even without the gauntlet has beaten the shit outta Thor, Hulk, Silver Surfer, held his own against Odin and injured Galactus. He has Superhuman strength, durability, and energy manipulation powers that he can omit from his hands, even without the stones. In the comics, Thanos is on the level of the Skyfathers in terms of power. He’s extremely powerful. And EXTREMELY smart. As for Superman, well, I’ll keep is brief. Superman’s abilities consist of: flight, superhuman strength, x-ray vision, heat vision, cold breath, super-speed, enhanced hearing, nigh-invulnerability, enhanced healing, electromagnetic vision, telepathy, enhanced energy absorption, telekinesis, enhanced memory, enhanced learning, ventriloquism, energy manipulation, mind control, microscopic vision, and even intangibility. And this isn’t all of it. Superman has a LOT of tricks up his sleeve, definitely more than Thanos, but is still MORE than a worthy opponent to him. I think I’d have Superman winning because he has more powers to use against Thanos. The main ones are obviously his many mind powers and his super speed. Comic book Thanos while having an extremely quick reacting time wouldn’t be able to keep up with Superman at his tops speeds. I only see Thanos maybe winning because I think that he’s smarter than Superman, but Superman is also really smart and I don’t think that Thanos would even have time to come up with a plan to beat him without supes figuring it out. The Universe that this fight takes place in is also important because if in the DC universe Thanos with Kryptonite would 100% beat Superman. But if in the Marvel Universe Superman wins in a close fight.

I remember I was playing The Last of Us summer of 2013 and took a break from playing it to go watch Man of Steel in the theater. This movie was so god damn loud with the music and the destruction and the punches being thrown and the buildings collapsing, the alien ships. It was utter chaos. Zack Snyder threw the kitchen sink at it too.

Michael Shannon's Zod is one of the best performance by a DC villain, up there with Heath Ledger's Joker, Tom Hardy's Bane, Jim Carrey's The Riddler, Ciaran Hinds' Steppenwolf, and Aaron Eckhart's Two Face imo
