If risk of slipping is universal, then the shower design is flawed, and shower manufacturers should be held accountable to improve.

🙌🏻 agreed! They’ve created more pre-manufactured options, but for so many that can’t afford to change out their whole shower setup, these options can be helpful.

Thanks for the great info. I bought the Gorilla shower mat for my elderly mom and she said it hurt the bottom of her feet. My brother also tried it and agreed with her. I told them it might take some getting used to, but after a month of use, they still feel the same. The non-slip sticky strips seem like a good option, so will try those next. Thanks again for all the wonderful information you share!

I prefer the stickers compared to the mat. They are easy to maintain and less noticeable under foot.

Hi, you mention scoring? How does that work with a tiled wet room?

The main problem I have with mats is that most tubs now come with pre formed anti-slip surfaces on the floors, that always collect and fill up with the girls hair conditioners. This renders them useless and even more slippery! Those pre formed anti-slip services also prevent the mats with those suction cup to not stick at all, which again, makes the tub even MORE slippery. Oh, the peel and stick strips don't stick to the anti-slip services either. I'm now hoping that roll on stuff works!

I just had an American Standard Walk-in tub installed. Is there anything to put on the seat to keep me from slipping off when trying to get up?

I had a significant back injury that made it impossible to get out of my large garden tub. I bought a walk in tub with a no slip floor, but it didn't stop me from losing my footing & bruising the heck out of my arms. Next I tried a no slip mat, but that slid & once again resulted in significant bruising. Last week, my husband put down the no slip strips & I couldn't even tell there was anything on the tub floor. I'm now in search of something that has a little bit of grip, that I can actually feel with my feet. I'm missing my garden tub more & more & I am seriously considering taking the walk in tub out & having my garden tub reinstalled & buying a lift chair to raise & lower me in/out of the tub.

I tried the stick-on strips and they are cheap and easy to install. The con is they stain if you use hair dye or hair color. I found after a few months of use I have to remove them and install new strips, its hard to clean the hair color stain underneath the old strips because enow the shower floor has strip color stains. I need something that can be sprayed into the shower floor that's gritty and easy to keep clean. I know hair sometime gets snagged on the grit and might need a little work of rinsing off.

What do you recommend for a textured surface?

The paint on texture works best with that. It will increase grit and stick well to the textured surfaces.

The important thing is to remove noticeable soap residue, dirt, etc. with whatever you normally clean with. Then let it dry all the way. You can wash the floor with regular cleaners, but expect some edge lifting on the stickers after 6-12 months of use.

I just slipped and fell in a Hampton inn with just a plain white plastic or fiberglass step in shower.. No mat or grip surface! I fell out on the slippery tile floor. I can't believe it. Why?
