Non Planar Lip and Grooves - SOLIDWORKS Tutorial - Fantastic Plastic 07
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
SOLIDWORKS has a plethora of tools for designing and modeling injection molded plastic parts. This series of video tutorials will cover workflow and modeling strategies that will help you quickly and efficiently transform conceptual design models into manufacturable plastic part designs.
This SOLIDWORKS video tutorial discusses how to quickly and efficiently model non planar lip and groove geometry present on many two piece clamshell plastic part designs.

Thanks for this presentation! Very useful and currently about to use this process.
Thanks u v much for this vid tut. It helps me alot.
Hello, i would like to know if theres some feature similar to this lip-groove on Siemens NX software. Thanks in advance
we can add non planar lip/groove in solidworks directly from lip/groove feature
I have used a similar method to this before and I kept getting sketch errors on converted edges when I made changes to the geometry early on in the design tree. Do you have any tips on making converted edges more robust or is it inevitable that big geometry changes will cause converted edges to fail?

Big geometry changes will most likely require fixing sketch relations, the higher up in the feature tree a change is made, the more opportunity for downstream rebuild errors. That said, I always try and use the replace sketch relation tool instead of deleting the sketch entities and re-converting. Any repaired sketch relations mean less rework fixing failed drafts, fillets, etc.

Thanks for the tip! I will try repairing relations in the future, normally I just delete the sketch and start again but I do end up with at lot of failed fillets.
