GAMEPLAY TIP: Around the time you hit Level 15, you will get introduced to your first dungeon, BEFORE you do that dungeon, look for an NPC called the "SMITH" and do his quests, he is in the any of the Adventure's Guild halls (any of the 3 cities) or at the outpost building right before the location where the first dungeon is located. The "Smith" is an npc that teaches party mechanics and concepts for dungeons/boss fights, and the REWARD is a full set of good armor and a ring that boosts EXP gains.

Additional Tip because I've noticed sprouts who didn't know this: You can repeat these "training" duties as each role: Tank, DPS, Healer. Each have some variances specific to the role, as well as providing gear (chest, arms, legs, feet) for each role. So feel free to replay them when swapping roles, so you get that extra bit of info, it really helps.

Everyone is holding onto the hope that you stick through the early game and make it into the late game DLCs because goddamn, it gets really good. Like someone else said as well, try to avoid spoilers as best you can. There are some great moments in this story that have solidified ff14 as one of my favourite stories in gaming by far.

How soon they grow up. Seems like only yesterday when he was watching all of the trailers. Won't be long before he is ready to move out and do all of the ultimate and savages....WELCOME! HAVE FUN!

I strongly suggest you avoid spoilers I know it's a meme but seriously, at some point during Shadowbringers, the story gets so compelling that I NEEDED to complete Endwalker, and it was amazing This I say from the perspective of a player which tried to play AAR four times before, each time leaving without looking behind at level 30 or so, bored out of my mind, even after HW landed, and was widely praised, I didn't care about FF14 But, after my former mmo went into rampaging lunacy, I tried again last year, and stick with it because magic happened! FF14 cleaned up the intro to the game, and I chose Black Mage as my class

Yeah, I feel this. ARR is way better in hindsight, I didn't realize at the time that the slow pacing and world building would feel like 'the good old days" in retrospect, Then the end of the patch content of ARR popped off hard which builds into HW which was was decent, but its Shadowbringers and Endwalker where the story popped off. (I wasn't a fan of the story in Stormblood). But year, the most recent 2 expansions were amazing.

Glad you are enjoying it, Jocat has class guide videos that are funny / spoiler free. Kind of like Lazy Purple with the TF2 guides. I recommend trying everything at least once, you never know what in FF14 you wanna do outside of MSQ ( Main Story Quests )

It's so adorable that people are dotting the maps with helpful guidance so you don't get lost, or you get a big sense of welcome 😂❤ Also don't underestimate the power of DoH, Dark Matter, and the art of self-repair!

That first dialog choice wasn't just for flavor. It determines what ring the merchant gives you when you arrive at town. While the other two give very minor combat stats, the best option is technically "Fortune". It gives you a ring that adds CP for crafting. It's a great pick for early crafting stages. However, it also consistently sells for over 700,000 gil on the marketplace.

Welcome to Eorzea! A Realm Reborn may seem less chaotic than Genshin because the FFXIV devs hand new rpg/mmo players in mind. Also, ARR is all about building the world around you, introducing you to where you live, important characters who live in that world with you. That is one reason why I loved ARR, I'm all about the story and to understand the story understanding the world you're in is just as important I think. :) Anyway, I'm sure others have mentioned this, but when doing your quests, just stick with your Main Scenario Quests (MSQ) and your job/class quests. That will be more than enough xp to get you through. Anyway, hopefully I can catch a stream soon! Enjoy your journey!!

Welcome to Eorzea! hope you enjoy the main senario and the gameplay! little tips: if you feel uncomfort about the movement of the character, you can change the movement setting to "Legacy" in Character Config at the setting menu. Some of my friends feel dizzy when using the Standard movement but feel well when changed to Legacy.

Ayeee!! Welcome to Eorzea! Hope you enjoy yourself! Always good to see fresh faces ^^!

If you think you'll keep up with FFXIV, I highly recommend customizing your UI layout early on, especially for your hotbars. For example, I keep mine lined up from top to bottom on the left side of the screen, so that when I'm head-on looking at stuff, I have a clear view between my character's personal space, and my target's personal space. You'll need a minimum of 3 hotbars to squeeze all of your job/class actions, though I go with 4 so I can include some extra buttons like the Limit Break button, Duty Action buttons, and other things I'm likely to click during battle or dungeons. On the topic of Hotbars as well, personal recommendation is to read through all of your available class/job actions, see what they do, either support / attack (single) / attack (aoe) etc., and place them all onto the hotbar immediately, in a position you think comfortable. For example, on a DPS, I have my melee combo taking up the first 3-4 on hotbars 1 and 2 depending on the combo actions of the first, have the AoE combo around 5-7, with hotbar 3 having the buff/auxiliary actions like movement abilities, oGCD's, and so on. I do hope you keep up with playing it, and if you do, I wish you the best of luck getting through the ARR/A Realm Reborn portion of the story/MSQ/main story questline. It's a slog, I know, others have probably told you a lot as well, but its an unfortunate necessity in any foundation-laying for any storytelling. EDIT: Oh, and don't be afraid to pick up all those sidequests as you play. Often, there'll be a bunch that will have subsequent quests that follow the MSQ area, so you can do them as you go. Some sidequests also reward you with unique items that can be used for glamour, or unlock further quests down the line. I'm not speaking of the unlock sidequests which have are blue and have the plus icon on their markers, but general sidequests. I learned the hard way when I found out I didn't have access to a particular popular side story (a large sidequest chain that has its own story, separate from the MSQ). I had missed a sidequest somewhere, which locked me out of the side story.

Quality of life tip: (Armoury chest) in Character-settings, you can set (Do not place items in armoury chest) and it will go to the main inventory instead. Its such a time saver you wouldnt believe!

ok, I have to say this. I've been playing since 1.0 ARR and DID NOT KNOW THIS. how did I not know this?! I hate playing the game of "find that low-level piece of junk clogging up my armory," this will help out so much! im still flabbergasted I didn't know this was an option.

Bruh I did NOT know you could manually make minions sit on your shoulder with Beckon. I thought they just sometimes did it LOL

Nice choice on the Moon cat, a little less common played race...and he looks like mine's near twin...almost same skin tone, same hair, same tail...

Just resubbed to FFXIV this week. My character is in the middle of Stormblood, the 2nd expansion. Hopefully I’ll make it to max level this time. Very fun game. I hope you enjoy it!

P.S. : You get a free character change (fantasia) after completing ARR 2.0 to change your race if u are looking for variance.

On your reaction channel, you should watch the Joe cat guide to Final Fantasy if you haven’t already

If there's one single thing I could recommend, it would be for you to change your control style to "Legacy". Press Esc, select Character Settings, and it should be the very second option in the main menu. And, check the "Disable Camera Pivot" box. Trust me when I say that it is a game changer when it comes to controlling your character. The biggest immediate change will be that you'll need to use the mouse to turn the camera, but now your character is free to move instantly in any direction based on your WASD, instead of having to spend time turning with A and D. For split-second dodging enemy attacks, you definitely don't want to be keyboard turning and having a slow backstep.

Good luck having a social life after playing this story gets really good in the expansions

For story purposes later down the road (Shadowbringer) I suggest you at least level one of each class type (IE, Tank, melee dps, range dps, magic, healer)

My biggest fear for any new player, especially a streamer, is the fact the early game is so insanely slow. Until around level 42, it can put you to sleep. The mid 30s MSQ has claimed MANY a potential player. If you tough it out though, the payoff is more than you could ever imagine. Shadowbringers and Endwalker combined are maybe the best story ever told in a video game.

Today I did day 2 and the game is still fun imo. I'm around lvl 20. It's definitely slow but I'm used to games having a slow beginning. I played The Trails in the Sky series and it's very similar.

If you want guns, open world rpg, great villains and a giant dose of chaos, play Far Cry 5

queueing up isnt like how it is in other games. ffxiv logs people into the game in batches. its quick and easy and painless... unless its new expansion day... then things get dicey.

im sorry buddy the trailer wont magically made the gameplay better the no voice over alone is a dealbreaker for me, ironic from a game that ask you to pay subscription but cant fully voice acted their whole game 🙄
