Non Ideal-Transformers (Full Lecture)

In this lesson we'll examine increasingly sophisticated models accounting for inefficiencies of non-ideal transformers. We'll examine copper losses in the form of the internal resistance of the primary and secondary windings, explain magnetizing or excitation current, discuss iron losses in the form of hysteresis and eddy currents, and finally we'll examine efficiency, voltage regulation, and the less than ideal performance of a transformer with no load on the secondary. Just like an ideal transformer, the power input to provide these lectures is being fully utilised by me, the load. There are no losses in boring vocal delivery, no umms or ahs, no useless diagrams or oversimplification. Jim Pytel, If I could divert my university tuition fees to support the work you do, I would. CAN YOU DIG IT?

At 24:47 Smag= 7.1 VA not VAR. That shows how attentively I watch and digest Your videos :)

How do we account for the frequency-dependent inductive impedance of the primary winding itself?

I just want to raise a question, sir. How come that the angle in Smag is not negative 90 degrees?

Complex conjugate operation. Inductive elements are known to have + reactive power (ie: +90 degrees). Check out the AC Power lecture at: kzread.info/dash/bejne/oKeZlNiMnLLVfag.html
