Non-duality. Zoom 03.2022

22 and 29 March 2022. James taught on Zoom for the Kamalashila Institute in the Eifel, Germany.
Non-duality is a term which points to the truth that heals all the hurt of Samsara. Due to suddenly occurring unawareness, there is a grasping, a contraction as if you were trying to hold on to plants while slipping down a slope. Actually it is only energy for there is no grasper and nothing to grasp. Direct awakening to the non-duality of appearance and emptiness dissolves the sickness of reification. Very useful!

I am inexpressibly grateful as the 70-years-old "Cockroach of the Dharma" to have encountered such a Nice Illusion (you), with the best English language expressions of Vajrayana. I am a "0 - Realization" peripheral member of the wonderful Vajrayana Foundation, (founded by the late, Wise and Compassionate Lama Tharchin Rinpoche) a highly-realized Ngakpa, and student of Lama Yeshe Dorje (former Abbot of Rebkong Monastery in Tibet), Kyabje Dudjom Jidral Yeshe Dorje, and Thinley Norbu Rinpoche, and others. I am now connected with Lama Yeshe Dorje's son, Loppon Jigme Thutop Namgyal Rinpoche, who compassionately tolerates my complete lack of good qualities. He is a close student of the Great Lama - H.H..Chatral Rinpoche. Your realization, excellent English ability, and skill in finding words to describe Mahayana thought, are so beneficial and amazing! Please continue, and stay healthy and happy! 🙏🌹

Try Mahamudra it is very direct and profound. There is a book I love called "mind at ease - self liberation through Mahamudra meditation" by Traleg Kyabgon which is truly amazing.

Sorry James -regarding the Russians’ “ invasion”; i prefer Dharma teachers not to venture into political opinions and leanings. The US, MATO, Zelensky are complicit and you do need to dig deeper into the background of this huge conflict from 2014 on. Please watch the works of journalist, political writer,Chris Hedges ( also theologian) writings for understanding of wars! But I do like your teachings of non-duality and our human minds! If it is all mind…perhaps our mind can also be objective enough to study political/military conflicts, thus perpetual human sufferings! Thank you.

Agree. I also saw my irritation arising hearing this unnecessary comment. I was almost put off by this not only biased mainstream meedia like comment😢 as if it was black and white situation but also the proof of ignorance of the history of this land and people there, even the most recent history. I also wish such a remarkable Buddhist Teacher not only had more insight and analysed situation before venting his opinions, but rather not mingle politics into his teachings in the first place. Let's treat it as a a lesson for ourselves -there's no authority so don't believe anything nor anybody. Always use your own judgment and remember to keep reasonable perspective.

Which country invaded which land? Which country sent rockets into the other country destroying apartment buildings with families and children inside on a daily basis? Which country has an interesting epidemic of people falling out of windows when they don’t go along with a party line? It is black and white. Good and evil do exist.

Use it as an opportunity to practice! In fact lean into it as much as possible just to see what's there when the ego confronts something it thinks is deeply untrue. Perhaps take a moment to even agree with it just to really hold your ego to the fire so to speak and when all of the tension is built up just drop it altogether and see it for the emptiness that it is.

I find the Political commentary really off putting as your bias is very obvious. There are ways of commenting on the psychology of Nations without showing such bias.

I'm not sure James fully realizes the consequences that today's left leaning progressive ideology carries for western society. One of his masters, Chogyal Namkhai Norbu, my teacher too, was well aware of them. I love hearing him talking about Dharma though.

Political commentary is emptiness. Emptiness is political commentary. Take a look at James' excellent poem: Mt. Sunyata 108 views. Wonderful contemporary expression of nonduality.

Politics is Samsara. Politics is Duality. Nothing should be left out. If you think that speaking about the absurd atrocity and idiocy of War is off limits because it ruffles your feathers, you probably aren't ready for Dharma.
