How do you get off surface mode with the little house?

Mine just continues to say "Er1" even though there is nothing odd about the temperature of the environment.

Would have been nice if you could have summarized the directions instead of flipping through the manual with tiny font. That’s the entire reason I looked up a video.😭

This is not changing to F. I did this 100 times and it never changed back to F. It just kept turning off and on and going to memory bank
