    An enjoyable beach session Adam, at least you scored a few among the trash you can find at the beach these days. Good Luck next time out. The Nokta Makro Simplex is amazing on the beach.

    I have been discovering detecting videos as I am purchasing my detector soon, I have previous experience with a whites detector two decades ago and left the hobby after marriage. Now I am rediscovering it and wracking my brain over the simplex or just springing for the Legend but the more I watch you and others use the simplex the more I am realizing that it may be all the detector I’ll need, it really seems to be a little powerhouse.

    At least with your steel core pennies you should hear the iron when they start to go, so it should be a clue about what you've found. Here in the US our modern cent coins have a zinc core. When they start to go they give weird readings, anywhere from the 50's to the 90's on the Simplex. They're awful things...

    Take the targets you found higher on the beach. Take them down to the wet beach. Set your detector back to the all metal and see what happens.

  • @DTEKTSUSSEX

    @DTEKTSUSSEX

    2 жыл бұрын

    I've done a lot of experimentation with settings on the beach. You'll find more targets in the wet and on the dry with All Metal. The benefit of using Park on the dry is that it will reject more junk. There tends to be more junk up on the dry. All metal mode is more stable on the wet, plus with much less junk to find you can afford not to have the junk-rejecting properties of Park mode. Thanks for watching 😃😎👍

    Hi again Adam. May I pick your brain for a bit more info. You may recall that quite a few months ago I suggested you use am on the beach. Quite chuffed that you have adopted am as your default for wet sand in particular. After much research and deliberations I have purchased the SP24 coil. Opinions vary about the best software version for this coil however the consensus seems to be 2.76. Do you concur? I rarely ran the stock coil at full or even high sensitivity as the chatter was excessive. What sensitivity are you finding optimal? The stock coil was hopeless in the salt water and I'm hoping the new one will be an improvement! Once again I have to compliment you on the production and content quality of your posts. Easily the best I have seen. Regards from the Sunshine Coast, Queensland.

  • @DTEKTSUSSEX

    @DTEKTSUSSEX

    2 жыл бұрын

    Hi Mike. Go for the latest software: 2.78. The SP24 should certainly be more stable on the wet for you. The sensitivity level you can run the machine at will vary greatly depending on local environment and settings. I find All Metal Mode with a manual ground balance at zero allows the highest sensitivity possible. You'll just need to adjust as needed 👍

    Hi Gary, Happy to help 😊 Here are the settings I use for the beach: Dry areas: Park 2, auto ground balance, iron volume to 1 bar and sensitivity to full ir 1 bar off. Wet areas: All Metal Mode, manually ground balance to zero (vitally important) and sensitivity to full or one bar off. That should sort it out for you. Let me know here or on the Facebook page how you get on 😃😎👍

    @@DTEKTSUSSEX Hi, I'm a newbie and I'm having exactly the same problem as Gary. I'm detecting on a beach. I followed your recommendations but I'm still not getting anywhere. The detector picks up signals everywhere, but there's nothing to be found - even where the signal is strong, e.g. it doesn't matter if it's 20 or 70 there's still nothing there. The mineralization bar is showing 0/no mineralization. I've tested the detector on my own coins/stuff buried at 8 inches in dry sand and it seems to work; I get a clear signal. Anything you can recommend?

  • @DTEKTSUSSEX

    Hmmm...as long as you've ground balanced the machine manually to zero you shouldn't be having those problems under normal conditions. Sounds like something local is affecting the machine. Possibly interference...are there any cables, masts etc. nearby? Is your phone in airplane mode?

    Could be underground cabling to the shop in that case. Cables can run under the beach. Or possibly their WiFi or some remote signalling/alarm system. I've checked the map of the beach and think I've found the shop. You've got the Inshore Rescue building very close with a hefty-looking mast sticking up. That could be causing it. You said it was working elsewhere so it's likely to be environmental rather than a fault with the machine. Only other thing I can think of is to make sure the coil connector is secure (push in, twist collar, push in again, twist collar etc...) and that your coil cable is wrapped against the shaft all the way up (I.e no slack or movement). That will cause falsing as well.

    Generally single frequency machines struggle and so there are a lot of people out there who just automatically assume the Simplex can't as well. But the Simplex isn't just any single frequency machine and if you set it up well it's perfectly fine on the beach. The new generation Simplex Ultra is proving to be the same 😊👍
