Noise Gate - How To Automatically Mute/Unmute Audio in Premiere Pro
In this video I talk about the Noise Gate (or AutoGate) feature in Adobe Premiere Pro. You can use this dynamic effect to mute (or turn off) a microphone when the volume of that audio signal dips below a certain threshold and have it unmute (or turn back on) when the input level is louder than the threshold. Thus helping you remove unwanted noise when you are not talking.

What do you think, will you be using a noise gate (or AutoGate) on your projects now? let me know in the comments!

I'm going to store the concept away for now until one day I suddenly want it for something... although I'm wondering if I could use it for vlogging in shops with low-level copyrighted background music in. I've been known to chop out all gaps or use the pen tool to try to stiffle/hide that in the past.

Using it now! I've never been that great at editing audio and this tutorial just taught me so much about how features like attack and release work. Amazing content!!

I was able to greatly reduce mouth/saliva noises using this, thank you!
This video is so much better than some others that I have watched, the visuals really helped me understand the buttons instead of just pressing them when someone tells me to! - Thank you!!
This is the BEST tutorial about sound control in Premiere Pro. I'd love to give you 1M likes! But I can't! So sad! You are a bloody genius! 😍

That’s awesome, thanks for watching Weensy!
how do I like a video Twice? For real though, I went through like 20 videos that didn't teach me anything. You had good visual representation, perfect use of examples, easy to follow along with instructions, and you actually taught me what threshold, attack, release, and hold all meant. I don't usually subscribe to tutorial youtube channels but you really earned it. Thank You!

Thank you. I didn't think to look in the audio window. I really kind of ignore that and mostly focus on the video aspect. I assumed the gate was an effect in the effects drawers but nope. Thanks to this video I figured out my issue and learned quite a bit more. Super helpful!
man that's the best tutorial i've ever seen for sound editing. thank you very much

That's definitely something I will try at one point. It might help me getting rid of all the breathing sounds and also some lip smacks as well.
The thing that you said about attack and release, does it apply to the compressor part as well? I mean is the attack in compressor section does exactly what you explained in this video or not?
🔥
I will now use Autogate and pictures of my younger self in all narrations. I had a mullet though, not a fro. You’re way cooler.

hahaha, Thanks Christin!
😍😍😍🙌🏻
Would noise gates be of use when trying to separate voice from background music?
How I use autogate for just down the volume and not to mute?
This is better than denoiser since it doesn't distort the audio
Javier Noise gate shoub be used for live noisy instruments guitars where one wants to control the noise bleed. This post prod scenario you should be using noise reduction not noise gate. You should use plugins like ERA by Accusonus, or take to AUdition for noise reduction
@JavierMercedes
3 жыл бұрын
Guitars are a great example for a use for this. Audition is amazing for noise reduction! For my simple VO tracks in premiere for YT videos and such, I actually prefer use a combination of both noise reduction and noise gate on my signal chain to keep everything inside the software. But I’m sure there are different ways for all types of situations.
Does Hold effect Attack or just Release?
Hopefully this video have caption so I can understand clearly 🙏
AutoGate is our little brother 😂 Really cool video ! Thanks ! Adrian from AutoCut
Why does this have dislikes? What is there to dislike???
