They don't make actors like these anymore. Or, maybe, as I'm in my mid-60 years old...? Thank you for your movies from Romania 🇹🇩.

❤ Thank u everyone posting & KZread! I'm 40 & in love with the classics! I haven't seen anything newer than 1970 for about a year now. ❤
Great 50's scenery, great little bars and nightclubs. Real hot summer, lots of beer drinking and smoking. A decent film noir. Worth watching. Always moving along.
the acting back then in those movie studios was outstanding
Ya, a real hard hitter, top tier. Surprise ending too. I recommend this.
Ed McBain adaptation, I remember reading his 87th Precinct novels growing up in the 70s. McBain called the city Isola, though if one scratches it, it smells like NYC. Thanks for uploading

Good one . Loggia in the THE CAT and O'Loughlin in The Rookies , and the other cast-staff members . NICE.

I remember him in The Rookies.
Robert Loggia, Vincent Gardenia, a young Jerry Orbach. A future all star list. The only baffling aspect is the gang was called “Grovers.” What were the name of the competing gangs? The Big Birds? The Cookie Monsters? The Ernies? Doesn’t exactly elicit fear.

Probably for Grover Cleveland. He was an actual real tough guy.

You left some letters out of 'thanks.'
I would call this 1958 production a pilot for the old television series "87th Precent" 1961- 62, many characters are also resident in that series especially the mute and deaf wife- also named "Teddy", which was played by Gena Rowlands in the series. Historical note: Steve Franken who played a boy in the lineup was cast as Chatsworth Osborne, Jr. the rich and snobbish nemesis of Dobie Gillis. He was also the first victim of the dysfunctional robot gunslinger in "Westworld", played by Yul Brenner.

I agree! I became a fan from watching his rare '60s TV series T.H.E. Cat which sadly was destroyed according to several accounts.

EXCELLENT
Many have said that this was not the best adaptation of an 87th Precinct novel, however, it just can’t be beat.

2nd time watching this The vibe of the 50’s from my earliest life memories Yes NY C looked like this, felt like this , people didn’t talk around a subject, they dug right in everyone had a cigarette in their hand or mouth and I remember my father quitting around my 8th birthday I was sad ..he had looked so “cool man”
Always enjoyed those 87th precin movies.
Vincent Gardenia worked with Charles Bronson.

Vincent Gardenia...I don't wanna talk about it!
Goes further than most of this genre. Not only the sexiest angle of a cop in underwear, legs spread, hairy chest, even bare feet, drinking a can of beer in heat, lusting after his cold wife (see 32:00) but dramatic climax with cop and cop hater - much emotion and hitting not faked. Worth watching - not just for the four scenes with hairy chested men.

Me and my husband laughed so much at that scene!! But the bathing suit was great!!
When you Google this movie's cast, the Ellen Parker put up is not the one in this movie. The one that came up in Google was born in 1949 which would have her at 9 years old in this movie. The woman looked nothing like the one in this movie. I looked further and there is another Ellen Parker listed but with very little information.

I'd love a wife who couldn't talk. Unless she could talk like Princess Grace. I could listen to her talk all day long.
4:23 " We went to school together . " That's hard to believe. In the fifties, before the civil rights movement, Segregation was still in place. Black and white students attended separate schools !
