Noctua NF-F12 iPPC-3000 PWM - Fan Noise

Музыка

noctua.at/en/nf-f12-industria...
Overall I don't really like this fan. The design of the blades and the stator vanes - both being straight - means they basically become an axial rotary siren. So even at low speeds, you get a similar sound to mounting a typical 7-blade fan right up against a stamped grill. I think there are much better options nowadays if you want a high quality, high speed fan - Phanteks F120T30 comes to mind. And if you want IP67 ratings, get one of Sanyo Denki's IP68-rated Splash Proof fans, like the 9WV1212P1J001. The only real reason you might go for this over the Sanyo Denki is because that one is 38mm thick. So this Noctua does seemingly occupy the very specific niche of being 120x25mm and IP67+.

    The fact you did mouse clicks while testing noise was extremely helpful compared to other noise test videos. It served as a reference sound and allowed user to adjust volume to match the loudness of their mouse click.

    Yeah. Also just measuring raw CFM isn't that helpful unless you're planning on using the fan with zero impedance. The NF-F12 is designed for good performance at high impedances, so it might be more helpful to measure CFM through a radiator or something like that.

  • @ydihtty

    @ydihtty

    2 жыл бұрын

    I think there are a few factors that contribute to this: 1. This fan is moderate weight for its size (168g, 120x25mm). 2. This fan is designed to perform well in high-impedance applications. It does still move a lot of air in low impedance applications, but not as much as many other designs. 3. The effect of the cable. With the way I have the fan positioned in most of these videos, the cable is behind and below the fan, pulling it backwards slightly. I also have a lot of extensions weighing the cable down, which would increase the pull force. 4. The focus of the airflow. I think fans which create more focused airflow will generate more thrust force per unit of air moved. This fan has straight blades, and straight stator vanes, so the airflow isn't as focused as other designs with curved forward blades, and curved stator vanes. These are just guesses though.

    Just bought 2 of these and both has this very audible rapid clicking noise at low rpm. It gets less noticeable at 1300 rpm and above. I think I can also hear it in this video, is this normal? Or should I look into returning it?

  • @ydihtty

    I think this is normal, I think its due to the higher torque output of the motor. I could be wrong about the reason, but I'm pretty sure its normal.

    @@enlargedquack These industrial fans are high-end fans. I have eight of these industrial fans in my PC case and they are quite at 800 RPM. Definitely not as quiet as a quiet designated 800 RPM fan, but definitely not excessive in noise when set to 1,000 RPM or below. These industrial fans will also run at 450 RPM.
