I always felt like the Paul George and Russell Westbrook duo was just a discount Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook duo. I never really expected them to get out of the 2nd round and in reality they couldn’t even make it out of the 1st round.

Yeah, it wasn’t really all of George’s fault. He and Westbrook just didn’t have enough chemistry and couldn’t work well together. Not to mention, the bench wasn’t exactly the best in the league at the time.

KingDavid Actually he didnt. Their offensive rating was only slightly lower with him on the court. However their defensive rating dropped from first to 6th and after PG's and Westbrooks injuries to 11th.

This duo will be in the background of that iconic Lillard shot every time it replays in highlight reels during the playoffs every single season for years to come. Other than that though

Let me explain something , as a Thunder fan, about this situation. You’re right at the end about OKC low key liking this team more than the past two season’s teams. SGA is loved, and hopefully can be built around CORRECTLY this time by the org... And there’s no harden trade 2.0 with all the draft assests we got.

i remember this vividly, even though i’m a lakers fan, i loved okc as well. they were actually on pace to be the 2nd seed last year, but a losing streak brought them down. and then dame time happened

I think in that 2019 season they could’ve gone deep in the playoffs. Ha PG not tore his labrum and rotator cuff, he wouldn’t continued to have monster mvp performances and possible won, along with getting them a top 2 seed. And the playoffs would’ve been a different story, Westbrook and PGs chemistry was amazing, the defense was insane as a team, they had a LEGIT identity as a team who puts on the clamps and gets out on the fast break with they’re athletic guys of course, and then PG lighting it up everywhere with Russ being an elite playmaker. All these people talking about not remembering the duo, I remember that 2019 season being fun to watch and seeing how well they would’ve done had PGs shoulders not got fucked causing them to lose their swag, identity defensively which pg was anchoring as a possible DPOY, and big drop in the standings. Hell even in 2018 with melo, the team was really starting to get hot until Roberson went down. That team had found its identity too. Then their defensive anchor went down and the team got sloppy and lost their identity. It happened both years. Injuries were okcs problem those 2 years, they had teams that could’ve done something in the playoffs.

The only thing I would remember of the duo is me saying they would lose to the Jazz and Trailblazers, and my classmates saying I'm "crazy", then proving them wrong.

The 2k19 thunder is One of my favorite teams to use on 2k

@@tlkzay_32 For me it's very difficult. As I said, they are very disfuctional. You can't get easy buckets frequently. Maybe with some Westbrook post up but that's it, you don't have a lot of options and is you can counter them pretty easily

What’s fascinating is that Shaq/Penny played only 3 years (1 more year than Westbrook/PG13), yet that duo is anything but forgotten

Lillard hitting that shot to end OKCs season is pretty much how you can describe OKCs existence in this whole decade.

I remember being on a beach trip last summer and going to a restaurant and finding out Kawhi(Who I expected to stay in Toronto) and PG13 went to the Clippers and was like uhhhh wtf

Dre going down hurt us big time we went from 1st to 6th in DRTG team had more potential in 17-18 but PG also suffered with injuries to his shoulder and in 18-19 russ had leg/shooting issues. His loss of explosion hurt him too so much happened after he sprained his ankle.

Besides the Lillard shot, all I remember is the “unfinished business” IG post after PG resigned
