I personally think that Lloyd was going to be the green ninja from the beginning, even before the og ninja were introduced. We learn that elemental powers are hereditary, so it makes sense that Lloyd inherited the first spinjitsu’s abilities.

​@Minute_Meth yeah, true. But Lloyd was not even a main character before being introduced. Plus, he was just a bratty troubled kid when he was introduced. It kind of just felt like they found a random kid on the street and made him the green ninja. Like you said, Kai was too overconfident. BUT that's what could have made the show awesome! Kai being the green ninja and finding out through challenges and course of events that his overconfident behavior is a problem. That could have made an arch where he learned how to better himself for the sake of the other ninjas and himself. THAT would have been better to see than some random kid that was introduced later in the show.

@@Dogen-we1si good point but Lloyd being chosen put tension into his thoughts and descions, a pressure of father vs Son, Kia, who hated Garmadon would have never felt, he wouldn't have learnt as much as Lloyd did. Not to mention Kai not being chosen was a lesson for him, a way to sort fo tell him that hes not the most important ninja, (a reality check if you will) and I think saving Lloyd really helped Kai grow (sry for the spelling mistakes

I feel that Lloyd becoming the green ninja was super important to the overall story, it added a bit of sadness to the show, due to the fact that he had to face and defeat his own father. Plus the redemption story of Lloyd added so much to the plot.

I think that Lloyd should've become a green ninja, Kai just feels Goofy as green ninja

I personally feel like Lloyd fit best for the dramatic effect but also to five him development. He had to grow up from being a little sh*t so he could master his power and evolve into someone worthy of the label of the Green Ninja. But also after the first few episodes of Season 1 Lloyd did technically join the Ninja but he was mostly just being watched by Wu until he was given formal training once the Golden Weapons reacted to him.

I really liked his character development. When he was first introduced, he would go around feeling all high and mighty because he was "The Son of Garmadon" and wanted to follow his footsteps of being a villain. However, in season 16 ep 25, he said that his greatest fear was becoming like his father because garmadon doesn't care about anyone.

@Howdy Partner I originally watched the show without the pilot and needed no context, the first episode basically recaps everything. And either way the pilot is still the pilot, I’d hardly call two episodes a season. Also the idea of the green ninja hadn’t even been introduced until after Lloyd’s first scene. So the argument of when he was introduced is less effective.

The main thing was that they would leave their colours behind and become the green ninja - the leader, the symbol of peace, the most powerful. They would become the Green Ninja, leaving their old place behind, and solidifying their place as great ninja

He would probably awaken his powers after seeing everyone get beaten and create a giant flame explosion, before fully mastering his ability in mere seconds

I wanted it to be kai when i was younger but looking back, lloyd was the best fit and was a great plot twist and advancement through the story, slowly developing the story and the ninja with us.

“kAi sHouLd hAve bEeN tHe gReEn niNja🤡” y’all should really understand that this was honestly a good choice like Kai was always so full of himself and always wanted to be something the most even Lloyd said it himself in season four asking him “When will start thinking of somebody other than yourself.” Whilst telling him he always thought he should be the one, like I think it’s more important to show your character actually growing up and learning something instead of becoming more powerful, Kai had learn that he won’t always be the spotlight or live up to his own image even in season 1 he learnt that all his training wasn’t to become the green Ninja, but to protect him this is a sign of character development and was a good lesson for Kai it’s been 13 years of Ninjago and you guys are still bitching about this like seriously just stfu it’s annoying and makes it obvious you clearly didn’t see the good writing behind it annoying ass fans
