My job has its paid tied to the wages of federal employees, so even though it's menial, it pays quite well. They always act like they're being generous, but it's completely out of their control. They, too, use the fact that we're paid extra to say we should do better work for them. Like, no, this is still less than what minimum wage would be if it kept up with the cost of living.
I had a prof that makes children books, she had 2 suggestions to get in the industry. 1) enroll yourself in the society of illustrators, the HQ is in New York. 2) look for artist and directors with the same art style in your target industry (movies, comics, etc) and once a month or once every two months send them a post card of your artwork, eventually they’ll take notice and reach out

I wish. I started at the current company I work for (2 years) as an associate making $9 an hour. This was for about 9 months before I got I promotion two positions up as a shift manager and started making $13. Few months ago told my district manager that the current pay just could not cover the cost of living and that I would either be paid more here, or I'd have to find a new job. She told me she would see what she could do. She could do a .39 cent raise. That was it. I only stay because I love my coworkers and my store (and the employee discount helps me care for my animals) but the job is so godawfully horrendous that we've all been talking about leaving and people from multiple other stores in our district have already done that.

Some states get so strict about this that even asking a work-related question on break is enough. I mean 9 dollars per hour isn't much for a decent living I dunno I think a looking elsewhere was better of a choice.
Maybe stop quitting? Like it was a questionnaire lmao that was too much for you?
HOLY CRAP THATS BEAUTIFUL! YOUR AN AMAZING PAINTER!
“I can’t do that to myself” is such a valid response and statement… I’ve used this so many times and it works every time ❤
That was the longest way you could say that you just don’t like to work…
It must be nice to be able to walk away from a job with regular pay.

No Fr that's what I was thinking, and like she didn't even work yet she was just watching the videos telling you not to be like discriminatory
"I still don't,they don't like me" Is so real😂
This art looks beautiful
Trim the fat off the story, other than that, same! I went in for a welding job and they thought they’d be funny asking me to grind and cut something apart someone else fucked up before I hired in, I said “I’m a welder not a grinder!” And walked out.
I cant get enough of your coloring! Seriously, it always awes me
“I still don’t, they don’t like me-“
Same! Everyone else was reading chapter books, but I was still reading picture books because I loved to draw and I liked looking at the colorful pictures.
I know you’re talking about a story but damn that artwork is better than mine
