POINT!!

I met Ms. Patti Labelle on a plane as a flight attendant in 2007. It was my mom's birthday and she stayed after and sang Happy Birthday to my mom on the phone. She also gave me one of her personal pictures and autographed it. She was so amazing. She has always been my favorite. I was star-struck at 27 for sure.

I do think I understand what she was trying to get at with the whole "submissive" woman thing. There were parts that sounded nice and commendable, but then there were portions that sounded like she was describing a son rather than a husband. Like Angel, I don't wanna knock what makes another woman happy (she sounds like an Acts of Service lover), but I do agree that this type of thing isn't sustainable especially after kids come into the picture. Of course, we don't know anything about their relationship other than what they've given to us but something like that does have the potential to get unhealthy. And Kevin definitely brought up a good point: people describe what works for them but then others hear that and will automatically assume they're trying to say everyone should do this; it's just not true. The topic of submission can be very annoying and triggering (especially in the Black community) for this very reason. That, and people tend to have a completely distorted view of what submission should be

I think the Jazzy interview went viral because she just posted a video a few months prior on how being a "pick me" woman will get you nowhere. Now she's doing all the things she was speaking against.

Angel must narrate ALL other performance, she is just so hilarious!!!

I'm always looking forward to who Angel will imitate next. When she imitated Chaka Khan, Kandy's Legs and Hips and Bowdy, Ray J's IG Live shenanigans, and now Summer Walker and Patti Labelle. 🤣🤣🤣 I live for Angel's imitations and Kev's genuine reactions to her madness. Submission for a lot of people is total servitude and they struggle to do what comes naturally because of what people they know will say Edited to add: And baby girl is gonna overburden herself trying to be everything for that man who will become so dependent on that attention from her, that if she's tired sometimes or sick or sad etc...she's still gonna be expected to perform those acts and if she doesn't, it can cause rifts. And she's not married yet nor does she have kids. All these things have the potential to drastically shift the dynamic. She would suffer in the end. And this is my story. And I'm correcting the problem with my husband's full support and we are still so much in love with one another. Thank you for coming to my TED Talk

You guys were spot on with Essence Fest revenue. Summer had zero business on that stage. She looked very uncomfortable and never smiled or really move. I felt a little sorry for her. And Kev, you weren’t the only one that couldn’t understand a word but she did look good. Jazmine Sullivan just made me even more of a fan. What a voice and she looked stunning! Patti and Janet just put on a clinic!!! I hope them young girls took note. They were magnificent! I’d say the coolest surprise was Dru Hill and Dougie Fresh. So much fun 🤩. Thoroughly I enjoyed myself!

Her Soldier of Love song with a dozen dancers would have been great on a huge stage. For her older stuff without the dancers, the band has such big presence too.

I liked the fun at the beginning and the wisdom at the end of this podcast.

As a fanatic of Patti Labelle for the past 24 years, I enjoyed every bit of todays show.

I would have lost my mind at Patti's entrance and performance. I LOVE HER! I was in NO in June. FACTS about the heat. My down time was sitting in the hotel room in my draws, 66°F.

Kev explaining how he was introduced and met Patti was exactly me trying to introduce myself to Kev and Melissa at Essence. 😂😂 Patti was amazing. I cried at her performance. She brought me to tears.
