The English bias towards Maguire is insane. The reason he's the "fall guy" is because he cost 80 million, is the captain of Manchester United, and makes blatant errors most games. Idk what's so hard to see about that. If Lindelof, Bailly, or Varane were to have the kind of season he's having, they would be slaughtered by the media but because it's Maguire, it's simply because he's out of form and lacking confidence... give me a break. Arguably he should be gone this summer but we all know it won't happen so unless he improves drastically under Ten Hag next season, he should be gone by next summer

Salah passed the ball in front of Maguire from the byline for Diaz, Mane chipped a cheeky ball over Maguire for Salah, Diaz passed the ball behind Maguire for Mane, and Jota came in and passed a through ball between Maguire for Salah 2nd. It has Maguire written over all them, maybe it wasn't Maguire problem but just that Liverpool front men were too good.

Yes, that is his primary job, but when he has a 0% accurace on passes over 20 yards, the whole team suffers. Last season he had huge problems with set pieces... this season it hasnt changed much. He doesnt command his box, he doesnt sweep in high defensive line, literally nothing, besides world class saves. I am almost certain, Ten Hag will replace him by the end of next season

It is so obvious that Antonio Conte was the correct choice in November. The stupid Manchester United board has realized this and instead of taking responsibility, they are telling the press that he wasn't hired because Ronaldo vetoed it. Putting blame on Ronaldo again. As if Ronaldo would be against hiring a world class manager in favor of an interim nobody who doesn't like Ronaldo. Antonio Conte has a great deal of respect for Ronaldo and he wanted to manage him and vice versa. Ronaldo wanted Zidane, but when that wasn't possible, he would have had no problem with Conte. The guy is a winner.

alisson is very very good, excellent shot stopper, great distribution BUT liverpool needs van dijk more. like last year, when van dijk got injured everything fell off. but thats why liverpool is such a great team, they are full of synchronized great players with proper coaching

No we survived the vvd injury in september and were top by 7 points in january ..its when matip ..fabinho ..gomez ..and thiago got injured we couldnt maintain ....and still fought back for 3rd

@@bri1085 If there were no other significant injuries, maybe. What I see about VVD that other CBs do not offer is a very good long ball threat with both feet. Since he is two footed he can be very quick to send the ball on short notice. The opposition back line is forced to respect our forwards and get spread out wide. That leaves space in the middle of the pitch for the midfielders to work with, and ball progression is quick through the midfield. What the opposition figured out last season is that when VVD was not at CB and Fabinho was not at CDM, Liverpool progression out of the back was slow and predictable. That gave the opposition defense all the time in the world to set up and double cover all three Reds forwards when they got near the box. The three forwards were playing fine, but their shots were blocked because they were always double-covered. When Fabinho was slotted back in CDM, and Thiago/Hendo were back from injury, the midfield engine started working well. The midfield progression was not quite fast, but it was no longer painfully slow, and service to the forwards improved.

For me, ever since i started watching Maguire, I've noticed that he has the strangest running form and body positioning ever. It just seems so awkward, his arms out wide by his side, body half turned, the kind where he's boind to be flat footed if the opponent were to change direction. If he were to be up against super agile attacker, he's basically a breathing orange cone (or red, because thats man u jersey) lol. In addition to that, he lack humility and the ability to keep his head down and just focus on improving his game. He's busy with 🙉 and trying to fight the media. In short, he doesn't deserve to be in Man Utd, heck not even Premier League quality at the moment. He's stealing a living.

I agree, there is something odd about his movement. He lacks the agility of a CB. And I believe he has niggling small injuries that make him a bit slower still. Frank I think had the right diagnosis: Maguire cannot be a last man CB in a back four or back three. He is just too slow and clumsy. He should be a defensive CDM who plays in front of the back line, and is allowed to roam forward. He does well in a well-organized back five for Southgate, and he did okay for Ole when lined up in a very defensively minded 442. He has no recovery pace to correct any kind of error (his own or someone else's) when he finds himself as one of the last three.

I am going to stick my neck out and say 80% of goals that we have conceded this season have been a mix of mistakes from the 3 English defenders with Maguire being the most culpable. Just watch the highlights. Too much focus has been on Ronaldo "disrupting" United. However, anybody that's been watching closely would see that this team suffered a lot of demoralising dropped points due to the defence being leaky.

It really comes down to a front office that didnt address the main issues of Man U during the 2021 transfer window. The fact that Man U's forwards cant press effectively and their midfielders cant win the ball back means that Maguire and the back line are always taking on a barrage of runs and shots on them from every single angle. Maguire has not played well but neither have the rest of the team in front of him. The thing is that NO center back would be able to succeed in Maguire's place due to the sheer volume he is asked to defend against.

Maguire deserves criticism, there's no other excuses He's just not at the level of top tier football Spanish media would kill him for his performances if he played in Spain
