OFFICIAL LYRICS:
christian music or music that christian use
to get they fix just another hit of the clicks and views
officially i don’t play by your silly rules
we independent cuz that’s how I felt the Spirit move
looked for Yeshua I didn’t see him on the tube
i couldn’t find him on the web or in triple letter news
I saw him on the corner begging for some drugs and food
I couldn’t stop cuz i’m a little late for sunday school
christian music or music that christian use
I read epistles and take a sip of the liquor too
and everyone you listen to I saw they did it too
I saw a lot of dying happening in livin rooms
is that a preacher or a wolf that’s covered in the wool
is that a fetus or human covered in the womb
we disagreeing or are we just politicians tools
can’t pledge allegiance to a system feeding off of fools
christian music or music that christian’s use
I looked for Jesus and I didnt see him on the news
saw him in palestine, the powerlines were out of juice
he was a 9 year old her body had been battered bruised
saw him in zion too, a missile through a tattered roof
a father clinging to his child pleading out to you
saw him in Kyiv + Moscow
the bleeding won’t stop now
the cop and the black body he shot down
christian music or music that Christian’s use
looked for Messiah i couldn’t find him in interviews
sitting in silence i felt an ancient pull
he said to be Samaritan to every single Jew
right then he showed me rockets over top of tel aviv
colonizers shipping people across the 7 seas
televangelist devisin petty schemes
you don’t know Jesus til you see him in your enemy

I didn't write the lyrics, but it made me think of many Scriptures (even Red Letters within) that say to "love your enemies"??

If God is love, then we must see Him in everyone, even more so our enemies 🙏
Video and lyrics are an absolute masterclass. He mentions looking for Jesus and not seeing him in the news, but rather where people are suffering. he saw Jesus in a father holding a suffering child in the aftermath of a missile attack, Jesus was a battered/bruised 9 year old girl suffering in Palestine, etc. Then dyl says he saw Jesus in a cop AND the black body he shot down. Here Jesus isn’t just the one suffering, but the one inflicting suffering, which is interesting. Then he goes an about feeling a pull, and Christ telling him to be a Samaritan to every Jew. Then he showed him attack rockets inbound, colonizers shipping people, and televangelists trying to take advantage of people. He concludes this section by saying “you don’t know Jesus till you see him in your enemy” which clears up the setup initial confusion of the cop/body lyric. THEN, in the video, dyl’s whole expression changes and he’s fist bumping people as if he’s done with this (reflecting back to the start of the song where he’s getting his makeup don’t for the video and there’s a director etc. as if he’s faking it all) and it’s like “cut… on to the next song”, emphasizing what he’s been saying: “Christian music or music that Christians use”. Does he really mean all this? Is it dear to his heart? Or does he just need to rap and make people bop their heads for a check? His demeanor at the end portrays the latter. Then his lyrics express frustration at this: “I hate the people that we became” repeated because he hates that he has become an ineffective Christian who just talks the talk in his music, but then almost like he realizes again: “you don’t know Jesus till you see him in your enemy”, he begins to cry: “I love the people we became” because he knows he must love his enemies - which earlier was the cop, the colonizer and the televangelist because of the evil that they do, but now is himself because he uses “Christian” music just to give people a replacement for things and not to really inspire change and drive fellow Christians.

Thank you bro for taking the time to think through this and share with us. I was perplexed by the rap. Had to listen to it a couple of times and read some comments to see what others understood.
I LOVE the imagery of the many voices at the end saying “I hate the ppl that we became!” and then hearing the solo voice crying out over it, “I love the ppl we became!!” Absolutely insane. This is one of the hardest tracks I’ve ever heard ever in anything
THEOLOGICALLY EXCELLENT. MELODICALLY BEAUTIFUL. HOLY SPIRIT POWERED. Real rap! Bring the renaissance!!!
Not even Christian but this is the song we need rn 💯
“I saw Him on the corner begging for some drugs and food/I couldn't stop 'cause I'm a little late for Sunday School” 🔥🔥🔥 This is the energy that Pastors need to be piggybacking off of in their sermons… As Christians here in America it’s too often that we are too busy living our Christian life in our Christian bubbles to remember to actually live like Jesus did…
"I saw him on the corner begging for some drugs and food, I couldn't stop cuz I'm a little late for Sunday school" I feel this.
dyl and a one take vid GENIUS! Especially for this song. The speeding up at the intense lines to the slowed down pace for the slowed down verse fireeee

LOVE YOUR KZread PRAYERS BRO
Feels like dyllie is having the type of creative shift Mac had, where his music began to sound the most like "himself" and it resulted in something beautiful. Love the new album and so excited to be along for this creative journey moving forward
Broooo we killed it!!! So happy to have been a part of this, love the track and the video came out great! 🔥🔥🔥
Lol so that guy in the EVEN QnA chat who guessed that this was dropping before the album was right 😂

Tribe on the move❤
I love the people we became 💜✌🏽
This is easily my favorite track off the album and one of my favorite tracks you’ve ever put out. So much powerful truth in these bars. Timelessness in the making.
This one is going to make a lot of people mad, but that’s where the problem lies.
This song hit so hard the first time I heard it, and boy I knew it was something special when you said it was so important. This is so thought provoking, it’s art
Years of listening to nobigdyl and this just moved up to my favorite verse. hands down! You were preaching on this one brother!

STIX used to be my favourite 2 minutes-ish song. That just changed. This is profound.
I wasn't that excited after renesons, honestly, but now I'm 30× times more exited
POWERFUL.

AAAAAAAAHHHHHHH! The beat sounds like Imago.

Ride in sir
WE'RE MAKING DISCIPLES OF MANY NATIONS WITH THIS ONE 🗣🗣🗣🗣🔥🔥🔥🔥
This is SO deep! Lyrics you have to marinate on.
christian kendrick, but you are making it your own. Wow. This reminded me of what rap is about AND it glorifies God. Rhythm and poetry. WOW.
Sheesh! I felt that.
Yo that was spot on, every line. This is one of those songs that blows your mind a little bit by the way the artist excellently uses words and rhythms to communicate so clearly. Don’t look for Jesus in the things of this world. Keep up the good work dyl.
"Can't pledge allegiance to a system feeding off of fools" 😮💨 Brotherrr

Christian music or music that christians use is so powerful omg keep it up dyl, cant wait for the album!! #God1
Fire dyllie!!!
Beautifully uncomfortable. The way the Spirit moves through these words and into the spaces I've been wrestling with - that warm, aching conviction that makes you feel so uncomfortable yet it feels so right. That feeling is perfectly expressed in this song. Thankyou.
