Noa Deane Flairs Out On A Dane Reynolds-Inspired Channel Islands Fish Beard

Спорт

Noa Deane and Dane Reynolds share a lot in common, not least of which a beefy physique-both are 200lb grown men who fly higher than surfers several weight classes lower.
In fact, after Dane buckled the two CI Neck Beard II's he'd brought to Stab High to play around in the Waco pool, he grabbed one of Noa's LSDs, markered over the conflicting sponsor stickers, and paddled out for his first heat.
Noa for his part is an unabashed Dane apostle, a fan since day dot and one of the highest profile of his generation to wear Dane's influence on his sleeve. We first started talking to Noz about being our Acid Test subject after hearing how many times he'd watched Dane's first film with us (30+ when we checked in two years ago, double now, at least).
While we were immediately enthused about having Britt Merrick and the Carpinteria CI crew into basically building an exact replica of Dane's Acid Test Neck Beard II, we were more than pleased to find out Dane and Britt, along with Parker Coffin, had been working on a new modified Neck Beard model, the Fish Beard, a twin-keeled swallow tail with an outline from the tail's nadir forward ripped straight from the beloved chop-tailed best seller.

I had a purple California Twin fin right when the first of the Fish tails started to come out. We were so antiquated back then. The California would catch a fin on the inside of your ankle duck diving and gouge out some meat . Then the fish or swallow tail was released and started to take the shape. no one was thrusting this bulky short board I had . It was kind of shaped like Ben Gravys trash board . You have to remember back that far we called board shorts........ Doggers :) we referred to the board as a stick too. 70s

I am Clyde Beatty's cousin, Steve Brom made my first Twin Fin,Then Jeff Ho came over to Santa Monica from Hawaii, to a shop called,Pacific West,he started making double winged, and single winged swallow tails, really shaved down rails, light fast ,and such refined boards, they were so magic, easy to do 360s on,yet would sit right right in the pocket on hollow waves, mine never slid out,I wish I had some of those boards today, they were the future, I acknowlede Mark Richards, and his boards, but Jeffs boards were more refined,my family through Clyde Beatty brought fishes out,but none of those boards worked like a Jeff Ho, this Brett guy is trying to capitalise on something we did literally 50 plus years ago

Twenty years away from surfing after growing up In Florida surfing Ponce Inlet, I'm getting more and more into the Fishies. I just got a cheapy foam top twin fin Fish and I can't wait to take it out. Living in Surf City NC I just want a board that can surf all the lame waves that this beach gives me. My short board just couldn't do it anymore, or my old ass just couldn't do it anymore like when a was a teenager.
