There was an article back in 2004-4 called 'The Vanishing Middle Class' by Dawn or Herold, i don't exactly recall. It talked about that there is no middle class, either your rich or poor (struggling in life to make ends meet). But still, its a debatable topic specially for a developing country like Pakistan with limited or no data.

1. Extreme poor / Beggers 2. Lower class / poor 3. Lower middle class / low income working class. 4. Middle class / Mid-income working class. 5. Upper middle class / High income working class. 6. Upper class / Trend setters 7. Elite class / 1% Class

Mind boggling conversation: Income social class in Pakistan. I can with utmost confidence can claim that the data to define socio-economic classes is greatly flawed. Its so stupid listening to people debate. Whatever the official classification of our government is, its definitely not accurate. The rich people in pakistan is extremely rich and the poor extremely poor. I can with 💯 guarantee say that due to our flawed system and people evading taxes noone shows their real earnings. 7 class system exists around the world and its definitely suited for us. If you start claiming that even a person that has his own house or a car belongs to the elite class, you're definitely not backing up the elite is 1% of our population point. By such a identification of an elite you're basically claiming that atleast or more than 30% of our population is elite; because just look at the real estate buy and transfer figures or new cars registered or sold figures. I definitely believe there exists the untouchables (elite/higher-upper class), then an upper class, then an upper-middle class, middle-class, lower-middle/working class, lower class, extremely poor class. Until our systems or proper income data isn't in our hands which will only be possible is if we go completely digital and cashless until then, "you're an elite", "no I am not an elite" debate is stupid. Come to Karachi you'll know the ones you consider elite are just upper-middle or maybe even just middle.
