To be fair to Southgate he's team has done well in major tournaments bar the 2022 world cup. 2018 WC semi finalists (lost on penalties), Euro 2020 finalists(lost on penalties) and Euro 2024 finalists. Southgate ball maybe boring but it's hella effective🤷

Nail on the head with almost everything you said. Exactly why I didn't celebrate the goals against Slovakia, Switzerland or the Netherlands. The worst possible outcome for England this tournament would be to get to a final and lose, because it pulls the wool over the masses eyes on just how bad we are as a football team. Still yet to score a well-worked team goal in the KOs, Bellingham, Saka and Watkins goals were all great individual strikes and a Kane penalty (which many people think wasn't). I can honestly see it being 3 or 4-0 Spain on Sunday, they've been brilliant all tournament and already beaten 2 of the strongest teams.

The complete opposite of how United treated Ten Hag. He needed to win the FA Cup in order to stand even a small chance of getting 2 more years in charge. At least wait and see if England win the Final on Sunday before even making a decision on Southgate's future.

Seems a lot of fans want england to play pretty attacking football, which they’ll probably play and never reach a final. Like a repeat of the previous years before southgate.

You've made it to the finals twice in succession, so you definitely have the manager to get there. Question is whether he's the manager to actually win a trophy.

Just keep hating on Gareth & the team mate.. you cant celebrate when we lift the trophy, not properly anyway. And that goes to all the so called fans that have done nothing but try to bring the team down in this tournament. You can try to cheer the boys on for the final but no1s gunna hear you.

Well done for sticking to your guns and not having your mind changed by the last gasp semi final triumph, unlike every other media muppet.

The problem has been: the best potential managers were either loose canon big mouths (Clough) or financially crooked (Rednap etc). Leaving the mediocre (Southgate etc).

Anyone who didn't think Southgate would be manager for the WC is an idiot. This was always going to happen.

Reaching the final again was a big reason. If England go out vs Slovakia, i don't think Southgate would have stayed.

lose the final but keep your Job makes perfect sense to me, 99% of jobs if you fail your out the door apart from England manager and Mps, where you can consistently under achieve scrape by paper over the cracks and keep your job.

If i was Southgate i would want to prove myself in the Premier league

He is only saying what we are all thinking ! The man is lucky in tournaments, this year he has been even luckier, the squad has saved him and against the Dutch the referee saved him with penalty decision ! If the FA can’t see he has been lucky they shouldn’t be allowed to watch football never mind be in charge of ENGLAND ! My mum is 93 and she said that we have been cutting it fine with last minute winners and penalties, she knows nothing about football !

Why respect a manager so much for having some of the best players in the world gifted to him, and a big slice of luck? We stumbled through a very lightweight side of the draw almost losing along the way several times. This is due to his imbalance and poor tactics. There are a multitude of managers who could have utilised these players better. Just because the best players in the world have just about managed to cover that doesn't mean he deserves so much credit.

Why do United want Southgate to come and get them demoted so much? He's not so good at club management.

Everyone outside of England will be Spanish on Sunday.

This case reminds me of my country (Croatia). There is no quality game and players who are dear to him are playing, but he had results at world cups, so he is staying.

Southgate is reaping the fruits of the hard work of Guardiola, Klopp and Arteta. These managers build up the amazing players of England. All Southgate has to do is put them on the pitch and their individual brilliance wins games.

The Capello squad was far weaker than people think. It was far stronger under Sven as all the big names in Capello's squad were also there and at their peaks. Would also say Pickford > Green/James/Robinson etc. etc. etc. the only England keepers who have been better than him are Hart (marginal call tbh), Seaman, Clemence, Shilton and Banks. We are much stronger at RB now Our midfield is about on par (starting options) Our attack is better now

The opposition are much poorer now. Netherlands, Italy, and some of the other typically strong nations are not strong. Germany is slowly getting better, but when England beat them in 2021, they were very poor.

I know, imagine another final. That would be the worst

Who will replace him, or rather who will want to replace him?? With our press and fans, only a very brave or crazy man would be so bold.
