@@TURQOlSE The F-5C Skoshi Tiger, specifically. In 1965, 12 F-5As were modified with extra armor plating and an external refueling probe, and sent to South Vietnam under the Skoshi Tiger program. After the combat evaluations were complete, the Skoshi Tigers were then sold to South Vietnam, as well as multiple F-5A Freedom Fighters. Back in the 60s, the F-5A was part of a package meant for less fortunate nations (this was created by Kennedy). The US intended to sell the Freedom Fighter, and while other countries were interested, they only wanted planes the US was using. Thus the US came up with the Skoshi Tiger combat evaluation program. Think, this is JUST the history of the F-5C.

Even though I have jets in almost every nation, I still bought this thing a year ago during the sale. Within the first 2-3 days, I shat out 6mil SL and to this day, I maintain a near 4:1 K/D. This thing is a beast in the hands of someone who knows how to fly the thing. The main letdown, but this could be for all prems, is the teams full of new people who bought and die within the first 2 minutes of the game.

I have F-5C, SPS-K and A-5C (Su-7 and Yak-38 too but they won't matter for my point) and like the SPS-K the most. I use it as an interceptor with a cannon and 2 R-13M1s and get 2 to 3 kills a game because of that. 90 degree downwards the R-13M1 isn't almost never seen and even if, they don't care for flares when not dropped perfectly. F-5C gives me almost constant uptiers and I am still positive in it K/D wise but the matches aren't fun because they are quickly decided by the up to 1/4 11.3 planes allowed by quantitative matchmaker. A-5C compresses a bit to hard and the cannons are just a nightmare. They all are very good but it is important that the plane fits your playstyle.

A-5c on min fuel is equal if not better compared to the f5c in a dogfight and absolutely trashes any mig 21 it encounters. One you get used to the guns they're nasty.

@@pauliusUwU That's true but sadly most fights don't happen on these low speeds where it doesn't compress at the controls. For these it is really great but most matches evolve to a big furball.

I have a point to make, the soviet props also have a similar "problem" of being good at everything but not great at anything either, anyone who knows their strengths can find a way to beat the f-5 but it eill be hard because the f-5 can also play to the enemy's weakness So uhhh its a gamermobile

The F-5C has the biggest strength that any plane can possibly have: versatility. No matter where you put it, it is at the very least "decent". Low altitude dogfighting? It's good there, though not as great as the MiG-19 or something like that. High altitude interception? It works okay there, though one needs to be careful with the low amount of missiles and it is not as fast. It has 2 good missiles, a decent amount of CMs, good speed and acceleration, great maneuverability, amazing energy retention, good guns, and it's small. No matter what happens, it'll almost always have at least one advantage, if played correctly. I love it.

10.3 only because of the 9E, but in uptier it's pretty painful relying on guns, have the Chinese F5A aced and haven't touched it since the F14 and Mirage 2k dropped. At 10.3 I'd rather fly the MF/SMT or F8E, it's actually fine right where it's at. Ppl who know will use it well, and noobs can go full monke and still do alright since it's so small and nimble and takes damage well. The A5 is actually OP lol, creeping up on 3:1 KD using only 2 braincells.

The F5A also genuinly has a worse flight model than the F5C for some reason. 11.3 is just a huge dissapointment regardless of the plane you are using.

I know you have loads to take care of in your life and such. But i am just wondering when or if there will be a stream or video for your airlift challege. I love your content so i hope that there will, but I totally get it if you cant find the time.

The thing is that I want to make a video showcasing my two favorite aircrafts from that challenge, however I currently find it extremely draining to work on said video. A video like this WT video requires much less of my mental capacity to produce, so that is why you are seeing despite the fact I haven't uploaded anything for SP in a while. I've been doing a lot better over the past months, and hopefully when december rolls around and my uni winterbreak kicks in I will find the energy to make a few SP videos. During my hiatus I came up with a few video ideas that I would like to try. In any case, thank you for checking in and for showing support.

The amount of times I've killed F5C players with my harrier is probably criminal, sure if an F5C gets on my tail I'm usually dead but a lot of the time people that fly the F5C don't know how flares work

The one issue with the f5c is the muzzle velocity but since your turn fighting 69% of the time you never really get effected by that

F-5C is my favorite victime when a play the premium Mig 21 spk

I've had these things run me down in a Mirage III at 35,000 ft... k... I've also beaten them in gun only prolonged dogfights with a stock Su-25 Their flight models are complete BS but the fact that their generally being flown by nooblets renders them pretty harmless most of the time.

I love it, but it will be more balanced IF we ever get decompressed

The F-5 in the hands of an amazing player will never 'lose', it will always either be a draw or win because the F-5 can always exploit the enemies weakness even if it is disadvantageous in one category since it's a jack of all trades. The only thing that CAN beat it is another jack of all trades jet that's faster than it.

I disagree about the plane taking no skill. Because 4 of my friends have it. And they all suck in it because... well they have no skill lol. It takes a solid pilot to make this thing work. But if the pilot of an F-5C is at least decent... yeah, easy ace games all day. I will happily go 1v3 in this thing, and win. It's a beast if you know your basics and have good situational awareness.

If I am honest, that statement is the one thing I would change about this video in hindsight. It does take skill to get good at the F-5C, but once you understand how to use it you don't need much neuron activation to keep doing well in it. For myself, the F-5C is a very braindead machine, but then again I've also played it quite a bit.

I tested the F4s phantom ll for 3 months finding its weakness so I could fly it when I’m only rank 4. Im level 13 and I have an average 4 to 5 kills a game, not the best but it will do for grinding the USA

F-5c is not a "easy" plane, because of exactly what you said, you got all the right answers but the wrong conclusion. On the contrary if you wanna braindead plane, you have to give the players the best performance on the easiest aspect of the plane, i.e. AAMs. So true neural deactivation planes would be like the su25k with the R60s, or in turn the a10 (though a little harder due to the immense lack of flight performance). As far as braindead goes dogfighting, understanding enemy plane strengths & weaknesses, knowing tactics (BnZ, Turn fighting, Energy Fighting, 1/2 circles, etc.) are actually closer to the pinnacle of skill.

I partially agree. The 'hihi I clicked on you' planes like the A5-C and the SU-25K are most certainly also very easy to get kills with. However, in my video I'm really more focussed on the actual dogfight performance of the F-5C. The F-5C requires no neuron activation to dogfight with, the SU-25K requires no neuron activation because the missiles are one click guaranteed kills.

@@WalvisYT I've had the F-5C for a while and I struggle to play it well consistently because I don't have textbook knowledge of every other plane's strengths and weaknesses in a dogfight so no matter how i try playing it because it has no strength or weakness; migs with outrun me before I can ever hope to get my guns on them if they see me coming and the kite makes the F-5C feel like a A-10 in a dogfight and I have experience with not top tier air up to G/91 R3/R4 but the transition to top tier air has been painful with the F-5C in my experience I also just outright play WAY more ground so my textbook skills are better with that than air as far as the advanced stuff goes

This can be one of three issues: 1. displaced CoM 2. displaced CoL 3. displaced CoT Also, keep in mind that propellors exert counter torque on the airframe. I hope this helps.

You should use the armored target belts then.

With all the time I've spent on the 5C and the 5E, here's how I would describe both: If you've ever heard of the legends of the Halo CE Magnum, the F5C fits the bill almost perfectly. It's a great jet at dogfighting, and very good in most all situations. In specific scenarios, there are other aircraft that can outperform it, akin to the Magnum. At close range, the shotgun was better, at stripping shields, the AR or Pulse Rifle were better. For the F5C, Swedish Jets can out turn it(Bit cannot retain energy), Russian jets can out speed it(but not out turn it). The only distinctly bad thing about it is the missiles, but even then, they're okay at hitting targets not paying attention to their 6 for whatever reason. The F5E, however, is a different story. The F5E used to be the dogfighter king at 11.0/11.3, as long as you avoided radar contact and played with at bar minimum 1 braincell. It even has a midway decent missile that could somewhat ignore 2 flares. With the advent of 11.7 and near permanent uptiers, the poor thing now faces the dilemma of the F16 death. If the F5C is to be spared the F104 treatment, 2 things must happen. First, the matchmaker must be tightened to +-2 Br, instead of +-3 Br(Aka, F16s can only face 11.0, not 10.7). Second, it's BR would need to be tuned down to 10.7. There's one innate problem with this, however. The F5C fighting most 10.0 aircraft would *dominate*. It's energy retention, acceleration, and overall avionics is superior to it's already dominant Premium counterpart. It'd become an unstoppable monster with little competition to fend it off.

Yep, just got this thing... on steam. With a gaijin account... but i use steam as the launcher... and buying GE works fine... and gaijin wont return my texts... So im still stuck reverse space climbing in my trusty A2D-1

problem is people who buy it dont know how to play it, that somewhat includes me, as i can only do good when playing with squad mates, and thats still a 50/50

My favourite jet is the Swiss Hunter (I have a 58% win rate and 3.1 K/D in it) but the only jet I routinely struggle against is the F-5... It's just better in every single way other than armament. Seriously, they should remove the countermeasures to a) be historical and b) be balanced.

I'm not sure I'd want to see the Harrier any lower, so suggests the F-5E should really go up (and the C should lose its unhistorical flares). Yeah, I still don't get why the A-10 and Su-25 are still so low.

Listen I'm a US main and that joke at the end about US players was sooo accurate lmao. Got some real dumb/salty players over here. Some A-10 fr tried to kill me when I told the lobby I was 1 kill off from 1k kills in the F-5E. I aced that round 😂. With the F-5C, while it is bad for low level players to buy into it as it's a lot to get used to, I'll say that I was level 50 or 60 something when I bought the F-5C at rank 5 jets. Let me tell you, I was just as bad as those below level 20 players for a looong time. Low level/inexperienced players make the mistake of relying on their missiles too much. For me, I also only played arcade until I bought into higher tier jets, so my aim was atrocious, to say the least. I could very easily waste all 560 rounds on a guy without killing him. A mistake I still occasionally find myself making, but that newer jet players make a lot more, is tunneling in on one guy, especially when there's other enemies around. Use your C key. Mine's actually starting to wear down I use it so much 😂😂

It is only op if people stop to dogfight it. You definitely don't dog fight it in a delta wing. Just cruise on by if you overshoot and if that F5 comes after you it is a nice snack for your team

Literally 99% of f5c players either fly directly at enemies and full-commit over and over until they die, don't use their flare key or their C-key, or just fly straight over bases, hit spacebar then lawndart... it's a cash cow for gaijin and they'll never stop pitting this thing against 9.3 sabres and su7s and f100s. Just like the su25k is still allowed to lob all-aspects at F-sabres, scimis, mysteres and g91s.

F5C: Good engine but kinda slow acceleration up to 700kph. Loses speed quickly in dogfights because of AOA. 2x Aim9Es (meh) Decent guns, kind of unreliable in a way, lots of hits and crits. BR: 10.3 A5C: Basically a better F5C in all ways except guns. 2x Magics BR: 10.0 Harrier GR.1: It's a harrier. Awesome acceleration under 900kph at which it just doesn't really accelerate anymore. Turns like a bathtub. and bleeds speed while doing it. 4x SRAAMs that can only be used within basically gun range. (max launch distance 1.0-1.5 km depending on speed) SRAAMs also love flares so easy to flare off. No countermeasures. BR: 10.0 I would accept the BR of these planes, if the GR.1 got countermeasures and the F5C got aim9Gs. With the way it is now, F5C should be 10.0, A5C should be 10.3 and GR.1 should be 9.7

I have test flied tons of premium jets and the f5 has got to be one of the worst ones, it handles and accelerates worse than a tier V jet, and takes forever to gain speed, i would rather use any jet other than it.

I disagree with your analogy. Good players are capable of using a plane to its fullest potential, in essence they can be competative in a objectively bad plane. For example, the one of the CL-13's was moved to 9.0 because a handfull of very skilled players managed to do well in the aircraft.

The only "fun" I can have anymore at its BR is trying to guess if the enemy (which is guaranteed to be the US) has more A-10s, F-5Cs or AV-8s. The second part of that game is what I like to call "What will outperform me first". 90% of the time it's an F-5C. It's honestly absurd how goodit performs, especially against the Su-25(not the K), when the frogfoot is supposed to be "Broken OP"

@@WalvisYT wallet warriors are just a smth else lmao. I grinded my first tree (germany) with a prop premium to rank 5 and continued with tech tree jets..after i got top tier for that nation i bought a5c and f5c and got us and chinese top tier. (F5c kdr is about 2.25 and a5c about 2.5)

This plane does not belong at 10.3 what so ever it belong at 10.0 for one reason at 10.3 it's getting mixed in too much with 11.0 br and higher and at 9.7 it would decimate and at 10.0 it will constantly get a mix and alot of downtime but the su25k takes care of it alot I have no problem shooting these things out of the sky in my 25k but the funny thing I'm absolutely terrible at this jet the missles are literally absolutely utterly terrible I lock the missles in under the range constantly and they don't even flare and yet I come up empty 9x out of 10 on my missle shots you have to use guns with this aircraft otherwise its pointless to play this craft if you expect to jump in this plane like the su25k and shoot planes down with missles everyone is severely mistaken you will just die endlessly

Effectively what you are saying is: 'I need overpowered missiles to play the game for me, and I do not understand how I actually dogfight in jets.' I hope you realize that the SU25s are an even bigger issue than the F5C; its even more undertierd and is therefor a terrible comparison. The missiles that come on the SU25s (and A-10s) are way to good for their BR. They are all aspect missiles that belong at 11.0+. Yes, you cannot just click on people and expect them to die if you are using the 9E's on the F-5C, because they are not broken good missiles. They are still good enough, but yes you cannot just fling them around like and idiot and get guaranteed kills.

@Walv!s woah friend I didn't say that but if your gonna base an aircraft of its speed and maneuverability than that's stupid the f5c cannons are trash it's more critical shots unless you get behind an su25k lol or just a plain idiot but of course as all people will say "skill issue" fact is any plane at 10.0 or higher needs good missles because of the massive uptier it gets constantly there is no surviving against f14s and j35s when dog fighting them skill or no skill any noob with an f14 can OWN and as I said and I'll say it again the f5c belongs at 9.7 or 10.0 not 10.3 speed -trash guns -trash missles +speed +maneuverability +armaments for attacking base or ground targets in Ground RB So they need to at Air RB lower to 9.7 or 10.0 and at ground RB can put at 10.3 because of its armaments but at 10.3 it gets to much uptier and the survivability literally goes down 10 fold and of course you clowns always say "skill issue" nothing to do with skill the plane can't properly use missles against 4th generation jets it literally needs to be sitting directly behind people and they are paying attiention I took a shot earlier should of been guranteed kill and literally the missle just dissappearEd for no reason its a terrible missle and because of that in AIR RB it can not sit at 10.3 and the su25k is so dirt slow yes it needs decent missles otherwise who would use this jet? Suggesting the F5C should go to 9.7 is incredibly dumb, that I do not think you understand the games BR's at all. 9.7 gets to fight 8.7, have you played any of the 8.7 aircraft? I'm sorry, but your suggestion is so wildly problematic that either you are trolling, or you have not been playing the game for long at all. It appears you have no understanding of the game outside the SU25K and the F5C. For example, have you tried playing the mig23bn? Have you experienced that the SU25s are making any 8.7+ jet without flares unplayable? Putting the F5C at 9.7 means it would fight Sabres and Mig-15s... Wtf

I can understand why, it a lot of fun to play. What is your winrate and KD? I'm currently over 100 battles in, with a winrate of 63% and a KD of 2.27 playing matches mostly meming with some friends.

@@WalvisYT I don’t have great stats cuz the first couple hundred battles I were using it as a bomber cuz I was trying to get the phantom as fast as possible, currently my k/d is around 1.5, but on the F-5E I have around 2.2 with 162 battles

Stats can be used as a metric, but if you kill AI planes then it will pad you stats. You should go based off how the planes compares against other aircraft and not someone’s stats. Plus you might just be the best pilot in the worst plane so you would have a good KD.

Gonna be real with you here sir. The F-5C is NOT good at everything. It's not good at one thing. Basically everything you just said here is invalid. I do well in all sorts of jets such as the F-5E and F-100 but the F-5C is terrible.

Fr, the whole "It is a good dogfighter thing" is bs since half the time you lose all your speed even with burner running constantly, and when you can make good turns your pilot blacks out after 2 seconds. Smhh

Good vid Id agree with the last conclusion but the mig21smt is also at 10.3 with cracked performance and isnt a premium BR is just all over the place tbh

The F-5C can win against any player who can't play to their aircraft's advantages, and can't win against anybody who can. Faster jets can just blow past them and extend out of their honestly pitiful range, and slower jets can turn inside it and have better missiles. This is a legit skill issue.

Except for the fact that top tier people rely on missiles and F-5C is given literally one of the worst AIM-9 Variants in existence, AIM-9E might be good for cold war era servers, but NOT 10.3 also I feel like this vid is edited because you never know when a missile is gonna come out of nowhere and scare the shit out of you, to be fair the only way to keep that from happening is to constantly look back which is not very good because you kind of are trying to get kills. Not just not die

Of course f5c is a greate plane but to do good in it you need to have a brain and thats what 99% of wt playerbase lacks
