This video idea was suggested by my girlfriend Aleks, who thought the idea of a detachable collar for the holidays was super fun. Turns out it is so easy to do and even better, it's entirely customizable to your taste.
The collar will totally transform based on the embellishments you do so raid your craft closet and have some fun.

Oh my goodness. You’ve done it again. My mind is racing! This could be used over any top or simple dress! You could also do velvet with no embellishments! Silk? Denim? Gold Lame? Contrasting color, matching color would work, too. Matching wide silk, denim, or velvet cuffs could provide even more choices! You could stack a black silk collar on a white silk blouse or vice versa. The collar doesn’t even have to be dressy but could be more tailored like menswear. The removable collar allows so much versatility without having to be fussy in the washing process. Thanks so much for the idea that can be taken so many directions! Mind blown.

Go major Christmas holidays - do it with plaid taffeta and wear with the ubiquitous LBD. so much better than reindeer antler headbands, yes?

I'm thinking I'd have to cut farther down into the shirt to make it more like a dickey. Or, use the magnet idea from a video a few years back (fur collar) to hold it in place. I can imagine it turning wonky on me and being crooked. 😂 But GREAT idea!!!

@@TheDIYDesigner 👑Queen of Street Style. 🤍Love Sparkle💎! Two ✨️BEAUTIFUL✨️ custom projects that offer max 💫 joy. 🅱️rilliant for 🅱️ig 🅱️usted girls who typically find that button-ups add unnecessary ⬅️bulk➡️〰️particulary when needing to size up ⬆️ to close the shirt w/o tension & leaving extra material around middle😂. Plus, adore layering, but sometimes it simply doesn't suit temps🌡in our extreme 😎LA climate🥵. 🎉 Great customization options listed here 🎉. Proving the skies the limit with our imagination😊💭. As a more modern minimalist these ideas work wonderfully. 🤫Like a magpie attracted to pretty pattern & even bold festive holiday gear, but often find these things 😔WEAR ME. 😳Most prints have an unfortunate habit of diminishing my spirit ⬇️ & amping up⚡️my frump factor👵, but I think I could tolerate them in smaller🤏 accents. 🎉Yay! 😉It was a lost opportunity to 🚫✂️ snip the cuffs to repeat this terrific technique. 🤔Now, to be 🌐 sustainable & smart, any clever thoughts to reuse ♻️ the rest of the shirt!? What a great way to use a shirt that you've outgrown or is stained/torn/worn and no longer wearable! Awesome upcycling idea. ♥️

@@TheDIYDesigner You could even keep the cuffs. That would be a very preppy look. I love preppy style. Or just use short sleeve shirts (I always think of using clothes the same they were intended and often forget how much things can be changed). 🤷🏻♀️
The collar thatvyou made we actually had and wore in the 50's. In the 60's the were made out of pearls. Glad you shpwed how to make them. Thank you.😊
😊rly this is au Courant, Elegant yet a simple reboot of old Hollywood embellishments... Thank You & your friend for the reminder❤
Hi Orly, I have a video idea for you! I would love to see an end of the year video, where you react to people's diy's that they created based on your videos. I would just love to see how many people you have inspired! Love ❤ Joanna
Thank you for continuing to make these videos every sunday. I have watched your shorts about how you are feeling right now & let me just say, I am right there with you. It is so hard to function in the world right now with all of the horrible things that are continuing to happen & I just wanted to say, please hang in there. Your videos do bring a relief to our week and just what this gal here waits for each weekend. Much love peace & joy to you and your loved ones

VERY Cool!!!! You've given me an idea. I have tons of beads and a machine embroidery machine. I think I'm just gonna make a BUNCH of collars from scratch and either machine embroider designs onto the pieces before cutting and sewing them. OR just make a bunch and hand sew my beads on in lovely appliques.

Oh man I might have to try this!!
I can’t thank you enough for this week’s upload! I have collar picture ideas saved and couldn’t figure out how to do this. I can’t believe I didn’t think of this. I ended up buying collars that are attached to a little bit of a button up shirt to put under other garments. They kind of look like bibs with collars but they move around quite a bit. This is perfect. I can’t wait to make them.

Just add that double side tape for holdin bra straps in place or to hold fabric closed on button down shirts that open up.👍 your collar shouldn't move with that tape. Good luck🤗👍

✨️Love this and how versatile it is !!! What a great way to jazz up a shirt you already have. ✨️ 💐❤️
Very cute diy. So many fun possibilities. I'm thinking about doing something similar but including more of the shirt base to create a faux layered look for under some of my v neck sweaters. Think like a dickie colar with some of the buttons included. I love the layered look but run way to warm to have a full shirt under a sweater.
Looks chic. Hoping to make one for myself.
What a great idea. ❤ Thank you so much for sharing. 😊 Love it!

This is cute!!! Great way to freshen up an outfit. You could even carry it in your bag to do a very quick “day to night” change. Ooh….if you have some random fabric you can make a collar if you don’t a a shirt to sacrifice.
Great job!!!!

Happy Hanukkah ! I've done this before from preexisting collars that I loved. I took a Pearl collar off of a dress of my moms and do up the button and it looks great on many things. You gave more great ideas. Well done
I would be interested in a video about your thrift store shopping... Do you go with something in mind? Do you go every Tuesday (as example) to just look? Chicken or the egg - what inspiration is first - the idea or the shopping?! 🤪

Love all your diy. You always find nice stuff at thrift stores. I’m not so lucky. Does the guy that you buy rhinestones from have a website because I don’t live in California and I can’t find any places like that.
So cute ❤
Very pretty 😀
Hello Orly! Heading to the craft store! Any tips on finishing the bottom of the collar or is it unnecessary? Thanks for all you do.
Great combo with the Rocknot accessories !!! Where is the silky salmon colored shirt from !
These are beautiful! Any recommendations on where to get the different shaped rhinestones with flat backs? Or what they're called maybe? I checked Amazon most look to have a cone shaped back. Thanks!
Thank you and happy Hanukkah from Israel
OH my! I have already done this. Also have collars from coats. Once wore a fur lapel shaped collar that I secured with a fancy jeweled pin. Fun. Someone saw it and moaned ' I just donated a collar like that '. And just a couple of weeks ago, received a mink collar. I have not worn yet as going to add some beads etc so it Just doesn't look like an Old dead animal. Bye.
